An effortlessly fun game. If you like 16-bit arcade games, perhaps something in the vein of Rodland, this is most definitely a good game to buy.
So simple yet so fun. I love this. I have just bought this game and I am happy that I did.
A reminiscent of old and not-so-old arcade games. It plays off with a kick mechanic similar to that of Snow Bros. However it doesn't stop there as it adds a few twists here and there on its level design to keep the player on their toes. Indeed, the difficulty curve is not sharp as the game can be beaten in an afternoon but it does get noticeable as it goes on. There are some exceptions to this such as the end game boss weirdly enough. Nonetheless, completionists may have a bit of a hard time with some of the achievements. The flavored details are appreciated as well. From the way the different fruits are called to the cutscenes for every transition or new mechanic, it shows dedication to make the user experience more than just level traversal. Also, there are different characters to choose from, which wasn't the case in my experience but at the very least they were available. In the end, for an indie arcade game that promises a bit of challenge with pixel art and the question of which ice cream flavor might be your favorite, I give it a definitive pass.
More or less completed it but not 100%, its a good game for both casual gamers and ones that cut their teeth on achievement-chasing. Alternate characters are available to play that you can unlock with earning medals, nine altogether. I think being able to hold r to restart and spacebar to skip a cutscene helped when I was getting stuck and wanted to just throw myself at the level. Storyline is simple, as is the case with the genre: fruits steal your scoops, you go get the scoops back, no dialogue. That's not a bad thing, its an arcade game after all. Sometimes that's all that's needed to sell the premise. The creator added an endless mode in beta, there's a video on how to access that here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXB5exhd-tI
Very fun! :D
This game is REALLY good. Like many say, its a fun Burger-Time and DK like game. I'm having so much fun, and if you like arcade games then this will make a fine addition to your library. BUY IT NOW ;)
I love the simplistic Arcade Feel! It's clearly inspired by Burgertime, but I think this game is does things better. Although the bosses can be a little TOO difficult. Especially the Bananas and Melons. I think a difficulty setting and Endless mode would benefit this game greatly!
Ryemanni, best known for their fantastic remake/reimagining of the original Rayman under the name Rayman Redemption (an insanely amazing game available for free!!!) followed their major work up with Scoop Kick! and they did not disappoint. Scoop Kick! is just as fun, creative and difficult as RR and, just like it, has an insane amount of content (including so much post-main game stuff). It is designed as a combination of early console platformers and classic arcade games (one small gripe: a bit too many levels where the enemies easily corner you) and it is obvious how much love and passion went into designing every single stage. I had such a great time playing this and I am now even more excited to play their next game Connie and the Essence of Chaos.
