Your aunt’s dead, your cousin hates you, and you’re stuck in the dead-end town of Scarlet Hollow. Choose your path through a branching narrative so dense that you'll see less than 1/5 of the game on a single playthrough. You won't be able to save everyone. Good luck, and welcome home.

About
From the developers of Slay the Princess, Scarlet Hollow is an immersive horror-mystery with sharp writing, impactful choices, and meticulously hand-drawn art.

Coal mines sealed off after a deadly collapse. Strange creatures preying on livestock. Houses infested with vengeful spirits. The sleepy town of Scarlet Hollow has suddenly come alive with horrors, just in time for your arrival. This was supposed to be a quiet getaway in the rural mountains of North Carolina. All you had to do was finally meet your long-lost cousin and comfort her through her mother’s funeral. But now, each new day welcomes new nightmares.
You only have to survive a week. But can you get to the bottom of the horrifying mysteries haunting Scarlet Hollow before they claim your life?
The first five episodes are available now, with one major content update planned before the story reaches its conclusion.
Features
A heavily branching narrative where your decisions (actually) matter. The relationships you forge and the decisions you make will dramatically alter your journey.
A complex paranormal mystery. Investigate haunted houses, strange sightings in the woods, a deteriorating mine, and more as you try and piece together what happened in Scarlet Hollow.
Trait-based dialogue and role-playing. Scarlet Hollow's dialogue system is driven by role-playing elements that let you choose who you want to be. Are you quiet and observant? Hot and clueless? Can you talk to animals? 21 different character builds change how you interact with the world and how your story unfolds.
A dynamic relationship system that reacts to your every choice and changes how your story unfolds. People won't just like or dislike you. Become friendly rivals, bitter adversaries, best friends, or mild acquaintances with everyone in town based on how you approach the story.
Original monster designs inspired by Appalachian myths and cryptids.
No jumpscares. All of the horror in Scarlet Hollow comes from dread, tension, and a sprinkle of disturbing imagery.
A touch of romance. Whether you're into goths, dads, moms, paranormal investigators, mysterious recluses, or actual monsters, you'll find something waiting for you here. And if you'd rather avoid that entirely, your story won't be any less for it.
Hundreds of meticulously hand-drawn and traditionally inked backgrounds. Every background in the game is hand drawn and inked by Ignatz-winning graphic novelist Abby Howard.
Fully immersive art. Each major character has dozens—and often hundreds—of hand-drawn sprites that interact with backgrounds and capture a full range of lighting, emotion, environment, and outfit changes.
Sums Steam only; GOG publishes no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

If you aren't playing Scarlet Hollow... why aren't you playing Scarlet Hollow? Stop depriving yourself of the good things in life! Buy it. Buy. Buy. Buy. Support lovely devs that truly love horror and romance. You won't regret it.
Literally life changing, it alters your perspective on digital novels. The amount of detail and thought put into it takes literal days to fully interpret and leads to an incredible experience.
Fantastic game! Love all the heart that was obviously put into it. Dialogue is fun and catches interest easily. Characters are rounded out and interesting, and the choices you make actually impact the story. 10/10!!
Scarlet Hollow deftly navigates the various subgenres of horror and gothic fiction, occasionally weaving in moments of comedy without ever compromising its Southern Gothic heart. Its identity therefore feels both creative and distinctly its own, particularly thanks to the way in which its various literary tropes manage to communicate and coexist with one another. The characters are well-crafted, and even if some of them may come across as annoying or unpleasant to certain players, the fact that such reactions can vary so greatly from person to person speaks to the effectiveness of their characterization. Personally, however, I feel compelled to point out that Tabitha is perhaps one of the most narratively compelling characters I have ever encountered in a video game. From a gameplay standpoint, Scarlet Hollow offers an incalculable number of choices and an outstanding degree of replayability. Five of the seven chapters have been released thus far, but considering the excellent work the developers have accomplished up to this point, I highly doubt that my opinion of the game will change for the worse.
It's a great visual novel. The characters, story, and mystery lured me right in. What's best is that you can play it so many times with different traits and explore different paths, and you don't get bored. It always uncovers something new. I'm 47 hours in and still haven't uncovered everything. I highly recommend it and can't wait for the other chapters! Also appreciate the fact that you can try out the free demo for chapter 1 and see if it is your cup of tea.
super intriguing story, so many conversation options and a really great sense of dread that brews into wonderfully creepy moments. if you're a fan of mystery and the macabre with interesting ways to navigate a story, this is a great game for you.
