Director's Note/About SantaCorps
Way back in 2017 (I think?) I wondered why there were so many Christmas movies to watch during the holiday season, but so few games to play to get you into the Christmas spirit. I fondly remembered my 2 brothers and I huddling around a single keyboard together and playing the SRB2 (it's a fan game) time-limited Christmas mode every year, and decided to jam out the very first SantaCorps game in about 3 days. Ever since then, I've tried to make it a tradition to set time aside each year to make a joyful game for free/cheap, both for us to practice new skills and techniques, and to simply have fun with the process of making something purely out of our love for video games.
Later in 2021, Seth and I set out to make the game that sits in front of you now, but due to the scope we had in mind and us just having too much on our plates at the time, we couldn't swing it back then. It's bugged me ever since, and mentioning SantaCorps 4 to tick me off became something of an in-joke within the team. Fast forward to now: we spun back, started over from scratch with our newfound experience and tooling, and set out to make the biggest, baddest, most off-the-wall SantaCorps yet. It turned out even better than I hoped when I first designed it, and I'm super grateful to my brothers and my team for not only humoring me, but giving it their all. I hope this game brightens your day, and reminds you of the magic in your own heart. Enjoy :)

This game is actually pretty sick as an arcade game. Not mechanically but spiritually I'd compare it to Nights into Dreams, or something from the dreamcast era. While the handling on the ground is pretty unstable and can't handle itself well often, using the balloon move to turn after dashing on the ground and using the coin dash to refresh the 2 balloons you're allowed midair lets you really go wherever you want as quickly as you want. It feels really addictive to try to stack huge combos, and they carry between stages which is cool. Really tight little game, definitely worth the asking price if you like stylish arcade games and can get used to how unwieldy it is. Feels great once you wrangle it in.
genuinely don’t know why this game doesn’t have more positive reviews… only six? it looks like a 1,000+ review “Very Positive” game to me! to begin with, it’s not perfect. my main problem is mostly the sheer amount of bugs i’ve been having with this game. from the chimney on the airship spitting you into a void which you need to restart the game to fix, and the janky collision, and so on. buuuut, look past that and you have a VERY enjoyable, cute, and short drop in and play kind of game that’s very reminiscent of the dreamcast library. brimming with personality, wonderful colors, and UGH the music (which is the main reason why i’ve decided to pick up this game!). it’s so, so so so good. the titling is kind of odd, cus calling it santa corps 4 implies that there are three other santa corps games, but there’s only one and the ‘4’ is meant to indicate 4 player multiplayer. but hey, i don’t mind it too much. this game is definitely worth the 5 bucks, and if the game receives patches for the bugs, id say its worth more.
