Director's Note/About SantaCorps
Way back in 2017 (I think?) I wondered why there were so many Christmas movies to watch during the holiday season, but so few games to play to get you into the Christmas spirit. I fondly remembered my 2 brothers and I huddling around a single keyboard together and playing the SRB2 (it's a fan game) time-limited Christmas mode every year, and decided to jam out the very first SantaCorps game in about 3 days. Ever since then, I've tried to make it a tradition to set time aside each year to make a joyful game for free/cheap, both for us to practice new skills and techniques, and to simply have fun with the process of making something purely out of our love for video games.
Later in 2021, Seth and I set out to make the game that sits in front of you now, but due to the scope we had in mind and us just having too much on our plates at the time, we couldn't swing it back then. It's bugged me ever since, and mentioning SantaCorps 4 to tick me off became something of an in-joke within the team. Fast forward to now: we spun back, started over from scratch with our newfound experience and tooling, and set out to make the biggest, baddest, most off-the-wall SantaCorps yet. It turned out even better than I hoped when I first designed it, and I'm super grateful to my brothers and my team for not only humoring me, but giving it their all. I hope this game brightens your day, and reminds you of the magic in your own heart. Enjoy :)

Love the atmosphere and the dreamcast spirit of the game. You can tell it has alot of heart put into it but I wish it had a bit more time in the oven. It's not really clear what you're supposed to be doing sometimes and it's easy to glitch through the ground sometimes.
Okay, so the ability to save the game had been patched to work, which is great news! However on the third stage of the yellow clouds levels there are several chimneys which are completely inaccessable; they're higher than the skybox, as in higher than you are able to go up. Those are kinda necessary for getting a high enough score, made only more difficult by the combo multiplier randomly reseting for no particular reason I can see. It's a fun game but very buggy at the moment.
Very fun and simple little game with great controls and a stylish aesthetic that is brimming with love for SEGA's Saturn/Dreamcast era (supremely based). Hours are low but I bought the original Santa Corps 4 on itch a ways back. Terrific game to get into the spirit of the season with some couch co-op pals. Looking forward to more from this dev!
Virtuoso neomedia)
Very fun gameplay loop. I feel like it can be a little cryptic on where to go sometimes and the controls can be a little slippery but I probably just suck. For $5 i think it's a steal.
we have sonic at home + music since this last update starting on the 2 and 3rd levels im hitting something in the snow that knocks you back, its all over the place. makes the game unplayable. not sure if its every level but didnt play past that wasnt like this before last update. assume something invisible is clipping the floor and im hitting it https://youtu.be/_fM8PYqPDvA
This game is a fun time. Once you have the controls figured out, you're blasting off at high speeds to spread some holiday cheer. The soundtrack is also great at amplifying the rush, and making me want to hear more. More than worth the $5 asking price.
Santa corps 4 is one of the best arcade games I played in a while. And everything, from the artstyle to the soundtrack, really hits the spot for me. So here's why you should give this game a try!
The soundtrack
the soundtrack was composed by 2Mello (big fan, and also the reason i've played the game), DV-I, Crisp and Skybridge. I've not really heard of those names before myself, but I assure you, every track is always so good to listen to while completing levels, so you WILL miss out on those bangers.
the gameplay
the gameplay is really fast-paced with lots of bouncing and absolutely flying over the stage to complete it, with your main enemy being the time (and the objects to decoy/destroy). very simple in on paper, but much more complicated and fun in practice. One little complain tho: sometimes you could bounce too much, clip slightly in a object or clip inside something, but it's VERY rare, and even then, not a big deal. Also, a very nice detail are all the npc you can talk to between levels! most of them are characters from a previous game of the studio (that I will check out in the future), and some being original to the game. The dialogues are also pretty fun and charming!
bugs/tips
even tho I really enjoyed the game for what it offers, it has some problems/ stuff that would be nice to be added/changed. on level 3-3, the skybox is put too low for the level, so MOST of the chimneys are unreachable. the level is still beatable tho! just a bit harder. although every interactable in the level is pretty easy to understand, there's one in particular that isn't really noticable unless you happen to bounce around A LOT, billboards. (they will change that, but at the time of writing this, they patched out some bugs, so I'll still say that).
as for tips
It would be cool if you could make so that anyone can put whatever character they want, just like super monkey ball for example. Since most of the ost for the levels is actually AFTER the 5 stage (if I can call that), I'd change some of the repeated ost for the other ones that are in the 5 stage. And to give the combo some purpose, i'd propose to give more points based around how high is the combo after every level (x100= 500 ex.)
other general stuff
the price tag is alright, and it doesn't have achievments, wich is ok for me, since I'm not really into achievements too much.
Final verdict
BUY THE GAME! it's great! UNDER THIS REVIEW, LIES THE OLD ONE THAT I WROTE (with a bit of anger) REGARDING THE GAME'S BUGS. THE WORST ONE HAVE BEEN FIXED AND IT'S IN A PLAYABLE AND ENJOYABLE STATE. I DID ANOTHER RUN BEOFRE I GAVE MY FINAL OPINION ON THE GAME. And for the old one, don't give it too much weight now :p
I would love to give this game positive attention, but with it's current state, I cannot do that. I'm also very angry while writing this, for various reasons.
good parts
I've heard this game from 2 Mello, since he composed some of the OST's of the game. and having seen MOST of the game has to offer, I can confidently say that the music, is a banger. Not only 2 Mello's work, but also the other stuff from the other composers (DV-I, Crisp and Skybridge). the gameplay loop is not bad at all, and also the artstyle and dialogues are very nice and charming.
Now the BAD parts
I've decided to put the biggest problem up here before saying everything else.
THE CONTINUE BUTTON DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY
. For some reason, if you decide to quit the game and come back to it later (and saving after the first "world", or 4 levels), you CANNOT continue with your save file. I've tried to do it with a keyboard (wich works for some reasons? even tho it should be played only with a controller), tried deactivating my bluetooth and mashing/not mashing anything before and after the game presented the logo. nothing works! So I'm pretty sure it's the games fault.
now for other stuff (but still, important)
This game is VERY fast paced. you always bounce arround stuff and you're always going fast. The problem is, you get stuck in walls a lot. a quarter of the time spent on levels, is you getting stuck in a wall or loosing momentum for going too fast, wich is very frustrating at times. Not only that, but the camera sometimes will go too far if you (for some ungodly reason) happen to be in the starting zone of the level. There's also some problems with the skybox, where in the level 3-3 is too low so some chimneys are unable to be used, locking you from getting more points (the level is still beatable though, you just need to be faster) and for the 4-5 level, (and this is not really a huge problem but still I will talk about this, I'll put in a spoiler warning for those unaware)
how am I supposed to know that the ads are a thing to break? there's nothing that makes it clear, where with literally anything else in the game, is pretty much obvious
. And for last, in the lobby/ship where you load before going into a level, there 3 MAIN problems. 1. Sometimes, certain npc CANNOT be interacted with. 2. The cimney on the ship sometimes puts you under the floor, bringing you back in the top
AND THE CHERRY ON TOP
3. There's a chance that when you go in the chimney of the ship, you're placed UNDER the zone that makes you go back up into the ship. YOU ARE STUCK FALLING FOREVER.
And now that I have finished the game
once you know every thing you can decoy and destroy, the game becomes not too hard, but neither not too easy. Finishing the game left me with more questions than answers, and to be honest, I was left with a sour taste in my mouth. obviously this is an indie game, not all games are made equal and have the same resources. I still loved playing the game despite its flaws. and I'm more than happy to change my review after they fix the most annoying bugs. Heck I'd pay 10 copies of this game, rather than play 1 hour of any souless game like highguard or concord (wich is not available anymore, but you get my point). a combo system that does nothing, the last batch of levels that have a lot more OST's than the other levels, and probably much more stuff then I can't think of. that was pretty much it. Here's the rest of my review by the way. I've replayed the game 5 times now. And unfortunately, the cons are much bigger and notables than the pros. And I'm sorry that this game is so buggy, because it's honestly very good design and gameplay wise! but those are problems that can't be left behind and I hope they will get fixed sooner than later.
ok i do like this game enough to where ill give it a positive review its very sonic and nights and crazy taxi gameplay wise and actually very unique and surprisingly original despite its foundations that inspired it. its also something you`d see in an arcade machine and would wanna play very very fun. HOWEVER my biggest grip with this game right now are the SLOPES if your gonna add them to a physics based game like this and make a dedicated level for it the number one rule to games like this is you gotta make sure they work and coincide with the level design, the slanted slopes are fine the curved slopes however, just dont work right and thats a big flaw for this type a game, may i say jank and not the good kind either. otherwise good game overall if you love score attacks like crazy or nights id say give it a try its just 5 buckaroos it wont kill ya. and as for the devs if your making another game like this(which i hope) make sure those slope physics work right i and probably many others would appreciate that because this game is rad.
