About
Sandustry is a factory automation game where every pixel is a resource waiting to be mined, mixed, processed, or destroyed. Explore a vast and fully-destructible open world as you seek out powerful artifacts left behind by an ancient civilization.

You’ve arrived on a vast unexplored planet filled with diverse biomes and beautiful landscapes – time to bring the fires of industry! From humble beginnings sifting gold from sand, you will quickly build a growing factory, unlocking powerful new technologies and production chains as you assess the viability of the planet for further industrialization. Countless options lie before you – will you focus on developing more advanced processing and logistical capabilities across your rapidly-expanding factory? Will you take advantage of local wildlife to aid with your mission? Or will you prioritize the hunt for artifacts, spending valuable resources to unlock access to their boons? And hey, there’s no faster way to mine than with the help of a rocket launcher, right? Build a beacon of industry and automation starting with nothing more than the trusty conveyor belt, incorporating filters, drones, pipes, pumps, and a myriad of other parts as you harness nature itself to do your bidding.

From individual grains of sand and flakes of snow to seeds, spores, and chips of ice, every pixel in Sandustry is a physical entity with its own properties. Discover countless chemical and physical reactions and exploit them to develop your production chains, building a pixel-perfect factory to optimize every step, or embracing chaotic webworks of conveyor belts and lifts as long as they get the job done – but be warned, sand is coarse, rough, and it gets everywhere, which introduces a new layer of complexity. The resources in Sandustry react to each other and the world around them – ice melts into water when heated, which turns to steam and rises if brought to a boil (only to come back down as rain if you let it reach the skies). Sand absorbs water around it, slowly depleting limited reservoirs to provide the wet sand that can be sifted for gold, while watered seeds bloom into flowers that can be ignited with fire to produce vital resources.

Deep beneath the planet’s surface lie countless mysteries for you to explore. Find clever ways to overcome the challenges left behind by an ancient civilization to uncover vaults of great knowledge and power. Nothing punches through a thick wall of ice like a freshly purchased flamethrower, but perhaps you can find a way to redirect some lava instead?

Built with modding in mind, Sandustry lets you explore everything from visual tweaks and hand-crafted maps to entirely new buildings and processes that you can integrate into your production chains. Dedicated modding tools make it easy to customize your experience, share your ideas with the world, and even overhaul the whole game!
As you delve deeper into the planets of Sandustry and expand your industrial capabilities, the challenges will grow, but so too will your ways to overcome them. With fully destructible worlds where every pixel is a resource to be harnessed, your options are limitless.

It's been out 5 days and I have 153 hours into this game. I don't think that adds up properly but the metrics don't lie. Needless to say its an amazing and addicting game. The systems you can design are endless. Great for problem solvers. Here is my rundown so far: It’s an idle-friendly game that you can just let run, but I honestly can't step away because I get completely consumed by the instant problem-solving. If you are into factory building, resource management, and setting up automated systems, this is exactly what you are looking for. What makes Sandustry so uniquely brilliant is the developer's pixel-based physics engine. Every single material particle in the game has its own mass, volume, and density, and the game's gravity topology obeys those rules. It creates beautifully frustrating logistical puzzles. For example, trying to drop specific petals into a sorting bin on a belt mixed with wet and dry seeds gets wild, because the heavier wet seeds will clog the sorters. My solution? I ended up building this crazy locomotive belt system using staggered launchers matched perfectly to the floating density of the target item so it sifts in perfectly while the junk bounces off. It's meticulous to build, but incredibly satisfying to watch run. The game is incredibly open. There are no strict rules other than the physics of the objects themselves. I constantly find myself thinking, "Well, if that's how that component works, I can just do X, Y, and Z," and then I just get to build it and test it. You can build amazing self-reciprocating systems like self-fueling flamethrowers or self-cooling condenser systems. I played the demo first and found some frustrating nuances, but luckily the Early Access release essentially addressed every single one of them. There are still a few buggy things here and there, but the developer has a great feedback process in place and is actively working them out. I've already essentially "beaten" the current Early Access content, but I'm still playing because I'm chasing that $1M gold mark (currently 2/3 of the way there!) and upgrading my power grid. I usually burn out on games quickly after the tutorial on some stubborn mechanic, but Sandustry has kept me hooked the whole way. Highly recommended.
I have a giant rectangular container that starts at ground level and continues to the map's ceiling. It's filled to the brim with 1,000,000 liquid gold. Can't wait to see what's in the pipeline!
the hype is real for some good reason!
I wasn't sure about this game after playing demo. Very glad I bought it. The full game is much more refined and kept me scratching my head to figure out how to advance. Can't wait for next tier!
