About
SAMUKID is the story of a child traveling with a blind companion.
Become the protagonist of a legendary journey with your eccentric yet strong partner!

Your blind companion handles the battles, while you, small and agile, take charge of movement.
Sometimes you must pull your ally away from danger to survive, and other times push them into the heart of enemies to turn the tide.
Strategic positioning of allies and foes can also maximize your skill effects.

Defeat monsters to earn loot and gold, then build your skill and loot decks to unleash powerful synergies.
Trade for essential items or recruit mighty allies through special events to strengthen your party.
Combine skills, loot, and companions to craft your own strategies and experience fresh battles each time.
With the perfect synergy, you might even crush bosses with overwhelming power!

Play as unique characters such as a balanced samurai or a powerful but slow sorcerer.
Different bosses and regions await, each demanding new tactics depending on their combinations.
Challenge new builds with every run and enjoy your own distinctive combat style!

The overall gameplay feels very interesting, fluid, unique, and quite fun! Some notes from my short play time; - The movement and gameplay *is* really fun, unique, and cool! Having to push around the units on the battlefield so they fight effectively is interesting, its almost like an RTS-ish roguelike in a way. My only gripe with it is that it uses a tile-based system, but theres no way for me to view the tiles on the ground. The sprites are different sizes and can be drawn overtop one another sometimes, and it can occasionally be difficult to keep track of how many tiles away someone is. This was especially the case around the edges of the map, i feel like im ALWAYS misjudging where the bounds of the field are. Adding an outline to the tilemap to make it visible would help a lot here i think! - Some of the positive and negative buffs from selecting ares seem wildly disproportianate. "all enemies +30hp" feels SO hard when your starting ability only does 4 damage. The enemy attack speed buff is really hard to judge since attack speed is a numerical value, but scales extremely oddly. For example, an attack speed of 14 is one attack per 0.6 seconds , 12 is one attack per 0.8 seconds , but 9 is 1 attack every 2 seconds. It feels like some things i HAVE to roll past in order to not lose. - I personally really dislike the skill upgrade system. Practically theres nothing wrong, It just *feels* really annoying to have 6 skills i like, fail 6 dice rolls in a row, and repeat this between waves to just fail to upgrade them over and over and over again. Especially since the enemies scale SO quickly with some negative modifiers compared to others, having the upgrade fail makes me feel really weak. This might just not be true and i need to play more! I'm not really sure how id fix it, but giving the player even a *little* bit more agency would feel way better. -Opening chests and getting random equipment is really fun, and theres a good variety of items and build varieties! I do wonder if theres something that can be done about all of the chest with nothing useful in them. It feels like my item slots fill up very quick with good things, and then i change no items out for another 5 rounds until i find a +3 poison item to swap for my +1 poison item. Perhaps found items could be recycled into gold or something? I like the concept, cool game, keep it up!
