Salting the Earth

If you want a visual novel that isn't an anime, hentai or porn and has a rich imaginative story, Salting the Earth is definitely worth your time and money. Salting the Earth isn't one I bought and read for kinky reasons. The premise itself is what caught my attention and it didn't disappoint. I really appreciate the writing in this visual novel not only for being straight forward and easy to follow, it's cleverly enjoyable to engage me in the story, the characters, the world building and even the politics. I didn't think I'd enjoy this game at first thinking it be another modern fantasy story or the in story politics would lead to bloated and pretentious writing that would bore me, but I'm deadly wrong. The post Civil War and world building fascinated me. Again I adore the writing here, two sentences in this VN speaks loudly to your imagination. I also adore the art and character designs. It really compliments the writing. Orange was I think the most used color in the game, but I find it very cozy on the eyes and compliments some characters' appearance (albeit orange is one of my least favorite colors). If the artist created a comic book with this art I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Finally there are the characters. If the beautifully displayed ladies attracted you, the writing will amplify their said beauty. They will entertain you, endear you and a favorite is guaranteed. First, it's fun to see orcs (orogon in game) portrayed in a different positive take rather than the usual sex hungry killing machines we're used to from rpgs and hentais. The orogons in the game are visually beautiful and sensual (again muscular orc women are not my thing) and each one has a distinctive multilayered personality which draws you in. Learning about each, their drives, their attributes and story is enjoyable so romancing them feels so rewarding and heartfelt. The orogon race, fraction, class and history here are very rich and fascinating, easily my favorite portions to read. I also like that the protagonist is a nymph, not a human, which enhances my investment in the fantasy world as well making the VN protagonist's role, agency and her unique fish out of water position makes her own character and one I like to learn about even when she's alone. I enjoy the musical score. Some I enjoyed so much I would lose my train of thought reading the story. However, I don't like the sound effects in game because I feel the game needs more variety for different situations and they can be sharp and loud so they're kinda heartstopping off guard Xp. Overall, Salting the Earth is a really good visual novel. But honestly, because the story, the world building and characters are so engaging and imaginative, they're so good I want more it's even a bit painful for me. I want to learn more about this world, I want to spend more time with the characters and learn more about them. There are so much more to explore in this rich world I feel 10 hours is not enough for me. I hope the developers are planning on a sequel.

[h1]Short Review[/h1] This game has great art, good playtime, okay music, and slightly wonky english. The last mentioned might be a bit annoying for native english speakers since even an ESL like myself raised my eyebrows a couple of times at some of the dialogue. What mainly makes me not recommend the game is the wasted potential that the game has. The day after I finished the game it hit me that the fact that a civil war just ended, Roo belonged to a different faction in the war than the other characters in the story, Roo having issues of her own when it comes to the woman she was and the woman she wants to be and *SPOILERS AHEAD* [spoiler]Roo and Urnba having a connection through the people from their dreams[/spoiler] is completely forgotten for very large parts of the game when it could have been used more effectively for drama, tension and character development. Instead it feels like it was totally forgotten by the writers and it's all just slice of life. Real shame. [h2]In Conclusion[/h2] Maybe pick it up at 50% off. It's not a bad VN per say but the wasted potential really brings the game down for me.

This game costs about 10 dollars on a sale, like the current Summer Sale. It has good world building with some politics that are interwoven in the story, things about wars, royals and rebels; the main focus of the game is romance but it has this other thing too. If you haven't noticed yet, the game is fully lesbian.

This visual novel was okay, but not good enough to really recommend. The character designs are nice and the world was interesting, especially the parts about the dreams. Unfortunately the characters themselves weren't all that interesting or unique, the romances were kind of boring (even the character who was implied to be aromantic had an instalove route), and the interesting breadcrumbs about the world never really led anywhere.

Awesome wlw visual novel! I honestly just ended up checking this out because "wlw VN about buff orc women" sold me instantly, but the plot, the characters and world-building were really great as well. I played through all possible endings and had a really good time. The humor is great, the characters are fantastic and I really enjoyed the political "sub-plot" as well!

You can date cute, gay, buff orc girls. Do I need to say more?
