Rusty height is a short foddian game where you grapple with your mouse, and pull your mouse to pull yourself in that direction if the momentum allow it. it's a really interesting concept which can be fun to master. It also has a ghost system to race your best time and an ingame leaderboard. The map has a lots of punishing fall, but is really short to counter that fact. Unfortunately, there is also no save so you should probably allow yourself 1-3 hours if you want to finish the game in one go.
Superbe jeu un peu rageant quand on ne s'y connait. Peu de contrôle à apprendre mais génial à speedrun contre ses amis.
well worth it for the asking price. the game feels really good and it strikes a good balance between being challenging while offering opportunities to go fast and save yourself before you fall back to the bottom. a short foddian hidden gem

Rusty Heights, developed and published by Trompinette Studio, is a tightly focused indie platformer that builds its entire identity around a single mechanic and pushes it to its limits. It places players in control of a lone robot climbing through a crumbling, vertical world using nothing but a grappling hook, and from that simple premise emerges an experience that is far more demanding than it first appears. There’s very little in the way of traditional structure—no sprawling level list, no layered progression systems, and almost no narrative exposition. Instead, the game strips itself down to pure mechanical challenge, asking one question: how far can you climb without falling? The core gameplay revolves entirely around mouse-driven grappling, which gives the movement a distinctive, physics-based feel. Rather than relying on jumps or precise button inputs, players must learn how to aim, latch, and release the hook in a way that builds momentum and carries them upward. At first, this control scheme can feel unintuitive, even clumsy, as every movement requires deliberate timing and spatial awareness. But with practice, it becomes increasingly fluid, transforming from a source of frustration into the game’s greatest strength. Mastery comes not from memorizing inputs, but from understanding how motion behaves—how swings arc, how momentum carries forward, and how small adjustments can mean the difference between success and a long fall. The structure of the game reinforces this sense of tension. The climb is continuous, with no checkpoints or safety nets to catch you when things go wrong. Progress is entirely dependent on consistency, and a single mistake can undo minutes—or even longer—of careful advancement. This design places Rusty Heights firmly within the category of punishing, skill-based experiences where failure is part of the process. While this can be discouraging, it also creates a powerful emotional loop. Each section you conquer feels earned, and each setback becomes a lesson that sharpens your approach for the next attempt. The game thrives on this balance between frustration and satisfaction, making even small gains feel meaningful. Visually, the game adopts a minimalist style that complements its design. The environments are stark and industrial, with muted tones that emphasize the decaying, vertical landscape without overwhelming the player. This simplicity keeps the focus squarely on movement and positioning, ensuring that nothing distracts from the precision required to navigate the terrain. The atmosphere is quiet and subdued, with sound design that supports the experience rather than dominating it. There’s a sense of isolation in the climb, reinforced by the absence of narrative distractions and the solitary nature of the journey. Despite its narrow scope, the game finds ways to extend its longevity. Leaderboards and time-based challenges encourage players to refine their performance, turning each run into an opportunity for improvement. The inclusion of ghost data allows you to compare your progress against previous attempts, adding a competitive edge even in a single-player setting. For those who enjoy optimization and mastery, this transforms the game from a one-time challenge into an ongoing pursuit of efficiency and precision. However, the same focus that gives Rusty Heights its identity also limits its appeal. The entire experience hinges on whether the grappling mechanic resonates with the player. There is little variation in gameplay, no alternative modes to fall back on, and minimal narrative or environmental changes to break up the climb. If the core mechanic doesn’t click, the game offers little incentive to continue. Additionally, its unforgiving design may alienate players who prefer more accessible or forgiving progression systems, as there are no options to ease the difficulty or mitigate setbacks. Even for those who do connect with it, the game’s content is relatively brief once mastered. The challenge lies not in length but in execution, and while this can be deeply rewarding, it may leave some players wishing for additional areas or expanded mechanics. The experience feels intentionally contained, as though it is exploring a single idea rather than building a broader world around it. In the end, Rusty Heights stands as a clear example of focused game design, where a single mechanic is explored in depth without compromise. It doesn’t aim to cater to a wide audience or provide a variety of experiences. Instead, it offers a demanding, skill-driven climb that rewards persistence and precision. For players who enjoy mastering unconventional control systems and overcoming punishing challenges, it can be both engaging and memorable. For others, its narrow focus and unforgiving nature may prove too restrictive to fully appreciate. Rating: 8/10
Прикольная игрушка.
This game is a fun and inventive platformer at an excellent price! The base mechanic is satisfying and fun to improve. The game is also visually compelling, moody and atmospheric. If you are an experience platform player, this game will likely only take a few hours to beat. It is relatively easy to lose your cursor on the screen, so I changed my cursor to a bright green so I could keep track of it. It would be nice to have an in-game cursor you can reliably see with all background colors. I look forward to more games from this developer, as this game showed a lot of promise.
Très bon jeu du genre, bravo aux dévs !
Petit jeu très frustrant donc très bien pour les vacances. Les musiques d'ambiances sont top.
