About
You can’t fight the Beast. You can only RUN.
Running Horror is a first-person horror game that traps players in a vast, nightmarish labyrinth with a relentless, otherworldly pursuer. You’ve been caught in the aftermath of a miscast spell, and the only hope for escape lies in finding the scattered survivors who were drawn into the maze with you. Each of these motley characters holds a piece of the puzzle, and only by working through fear, disorientation, and dread can you piece together what went wrong and undo it.
There are no weapons. No safe rooms. The only thing keeping you alive is your ability to move quickly and stay calm under pressure. The further you go, the closer the Beast gets, forcing you to balance exploration and urgency. Will you make it out before your sanity breaks... or the creature finds you?

A good demonstration of developer skills. Little to no bugs that I could see on my first play through. I hope to see more from these developers!!! The largest issue I had was the audio balancing felt off, most things were far too quiet i had to have my speakers turned all the way up!

I see this is an amateur project, so I'll start this of by saying to the dev: Good job, and keep it up! ...This kinda sucks... but it's great you made a game and put it out there! So please take this as constructive. The game looks pretty darn nice, and played just fine with no problems...I think? Most of the issues that made this unpleasant came from the monster and the sound. After initially entering the maze, I died in seconds without even seeing what killed me...so I tried again and realized what happened...the monster has almost no sound interaction at all. Occasionally it would gurgle when it was close, but not often...its footsteps were silent...and it moves WAY too fast and has a large kill window...I had no luck escaping it at all unless I was right next to a portal when I saw it...to top it off, when it sees you, your vision darkens, making it very difficult to see in front of you. [Is it supposed to have better sound interaction? I adjusted the settings all over the place thinking something was wrong, but got nothin'] Now, usually in games like this you have a little bit of planning room for an enemy, as if you listen carefully you can hear them before you see them, and you always have the option to run [or hide] if it gets too close... ..but with a near-silent monster, that moves much faster than you, and darkens your vision in tight corridors with many turns and no hiding places....thaaaat's a bit much. Not that dying matters tho, as death just sends you back to the chapel...without even a jumpscare . You don't lose anyone you rescued, so you just go out and try again like nothing happened. I'll be real, if I lost the rescues and had to start over every time I died, I would have quit...But this means dying is more a discouraging annoyance rather than a challenge. It wasn't too hard to find the 5 out in the maze...occasionally I would hear a brief voice...I guess to indicate I was close? But it wasn't really useful, as I couldn't tell what direction it came from....and I had my volume up really high. [...again, was this supposed to be better? Or was I having an issue?] Not much of a story, and the voice acting isn't pro tier, but that's fine for a project like this. I take it you + the shady guy from the start + the 5 rescues were supposed to represent the 7 sins? This is more of a nitpick than a problem, but the characters dialogue felt very same-ish. Mostly amounting to: "Who are you?"---"I HAVE A BIG EGO!" "Why are you here?"---"I WAS DOING SOMETHING VAGUE AND SHADY!" ...but after finding them all...THAT was the ending? Really? You don't get to even see the ritual? Just a "You win lol"? All the seemingly unavoidable deaths to have that as the payoff was very frustrating. ---- To summarize the problems: 1 Needs better sound interaction 2 Monster is a little too fast 3 Vision darkening is a bit too hard in the environment 4 Dying is both irrelevant and discouraging 5 Dying doesn't even have a fun animation/jumpscare 6 Dialogue isn't great 7 No payoff at the end for all your work ---- That all said, even dying a ton to leggy boi, I still won in about 30min, and it's free so it's not like I wasted a lot of time / any money. I'm not gonna lie and give this a thumbs up, most players are gonna get irritated and quit early...but it's FAR from the worst thing I've played. And I see that last post says the dev plans to polish some thing up still...so I may have to revise this later. TLDR To the dev: Looks good, Works good, Isn't good...but good try! To players: As it is now, you're not gonna have a good time.
running around just to die and start all over. no thanks.
