About
Roxanne: The Forgotten Path is a 2D adventure and platformer game with a metroidvania essence, immersing players in a vibrant, mysterious, and challenging underground world. You play as Max, an ethereal soul who awakens in dark caves with no memories, holding onto only one name in mind: Roxanne.
As you explore various biomes, you'll face enemies, unlock special abilities, and solve challenges while uncovering fragments of your past. Max can transform into water to slip through cracks, harness the Essence of Aether to attack and activate portals, along with other abilities that enhance mobility and combat.
Visually, the game blends dark environments with magical lighting, particle effects, and a semi-realistic aesthetic that amplifies the sense of mystery and magic. The narrative unfolds progressively through echoes of the past, encounters with NPCs, and exploration of a world filled with secrets.

Personal Review (English) Roxanne: The Forgotten Path is a beautiful, brave piece of work. Its vibrant palette and meticulous art direction invite you to walk between light and shadow. You can feel the care in every detail—weighty, responsive physics, enemies that adapt to how you move, and quiet surprises tucked into every corner. Best of all, it’s alive: week by week it grows and refines itself. You don’t need explanations—just dive in and get to know it. Every person discovers a different path through the same world, and that’s where its magic lives.
recomendado, me gusto sigo jugandolo!!!
Platforming adventure that thrives on punishing difficulty, throwing nearly unfair enemies at you while denying the tools needed to fight back. You begin the adventure as a blue humanoid creature born from a single drop of water. You have no idea what is happening, and the only thing you can remember is a name. Fortunately, someone nearby explains that your purpose is to close cracks and grants you the power to do so. The English translation is mostly present, but not complete. Small parts of text remain in the original language, which does not stop you from playing but does create an inconsistent experience. It is distracting to see sentences without proofreading and different languages mixed together. Dialogue is also very hard to follow, which makes the story nearly impossible to understand, so I eventually ignored it altogether. The gameplay follows the familiar style of an action platformer. At the start you only have a basic jump and a water droplet attack, but as you explore, you gain new abilities. The first upgrades you discover are a wall jump, which lets you climb any surface without restriction, and a map. The map reveals only areas you have physically visited, so you never see the full layout of a room unless you explore it entirely. At first it feels almost useless, but later you acquire an item that adds helpful icons, showing where important objects are located so you don’t wander around aimlessly. Progression depends on two important resources: keys and gems. Keys can be found in the world or dropped by enemies, and they are used to open chests. While you can spend them on any chest, it is better to save them for golden chests, which contain upgrades that either enhance your existing abilities or grant new ones. Gems are even more crucial since they unlock portals that allow you to travel to new regions and continue your journey. Notes scattered throughout the game add small pieces of lore, but they do not impact progress. Exploration becomes frustrating because of both the enemies and the mechanics. Enemies do not seem to follow consistent rules. They are harmed by traps like spikes or arrows, but their behavior feels unpredictable. Your basic attack cannot be aimed, so flying enemies are especially irritating, as you can only hit them when they move directly in front of you. Ground enemies are not much better since they can shoot at you from any angle, while you can only strike forward. This often leads to unfair damage, especially when climbing. The first area is manageable, but the second quickly becomes overwhelming. Sparks appear that fly directly at you, linger while dealing constant contact damage, and often arrive in groups. To hit them you must move left and right, but they respawn quickly and even pass through walls. This makes survival almost impossible, and health drains before you can defend yourself. There’s also a big worm that runs around and kills you on contact. Health is divided into a stamina bar and hearts. Each hit reduces stamina, and when it reaches zero you lose a heart while the bar resets. Deadly traps, such as spikes or blocks that crush you, are incredibly frustrating, often draining large amounts of stamina or even an entire heart, before sending you back to the nearest checkpoint. This would not be too bad if checkpoints worked correctly, but sometimes they fail to activate. Instead of returning to the closest one, you are sent several rooms back. Since spikes are common, you end up repeating sections many times. To make matters worse, checkpoints do not restore health, so if you arrive at a difficult area with low stamina and little health remaining, you are essentially stuck. There’s an item that supposedly restores health while standing still for a few seconds, but this is also broken. The game shows potential but feels unfinished, better suited for early access. This is visible in poor optimization each time you load a game or enter a new spot; you need to wait for a few seconds for the game to load assets. While it has some moments, I recommend this only at a discount.
Game is promising but for now it in very bad technical state. Impossible to play as for me, so I needed to request a refund :( The developers should do some kind of demo or early access and gather feedback before making a full release...
