About
Take to the skies above exciting island landscapes in RotorSim, a retro-inspired helicopter simulation inspired by the classic sims of the 1990s. Master accessible yet rewarding flight mechanics as you tackle diverse missions in a hand-crafted world.
As a new pilot for AeroAssist, an organization specializing in aerial support for disaster relief, medical transport, and critical supply delivery, your mission is to bring aid to remote locations. Whether rescuing stranded hikers, delivering vital cargo, or transporting passengers, the places you visit will depend on your skill and adaptability!
The flight model strikes a balance between realism and accessibility, capturing a sim-cade level of helicopter aerodynamics. Easy to grasp mechanics are balanced with key helicopter dynamics like engine torque, vortex ring state, and RPM management, while keeping the controls intuitive and not requiring expensive peripherals.
As of the 1.0 release, there are 3 helicopters, each with their own distinct handling characteristics. One is quick and light, one is a strong, slow behemoth, and one is the classic balance between the two. Learning each platform's strengths and weaknesses will be the key to completing the campaign.
Perform search-and-rescue operations, transport cargo, and ferry passengers while meeting a cast of colorful characters who call the islands home. And if you'd like to practice, mess around, or just chill, choose a free flight mode and go explore the world!
Weather is an active part of the simulation, affecting both visibility and helicopter handling. Missions can include stormy conditions, rain, fog, wind gusts, and turbulence, each requiring precise control and careful attention.
RotorSim is built to run smoothly on lower-end hardware (such as integrated graphics and the Steam Deck) without sacrificing the depth of the simulation.

Short game. Fun arcadey helicopter flight sim. 30 missions of pickup people/cargo here and deliver there. Easy flight controls, Occasional you have to fight changing wind conditions during pickup or landing. My only minor gripe about the flight controls is that you don't have to plan ahead for descent and slowing down like you really would. The helicopter should popup more when flaring to slow down but not having to makes it much easier to fly so it is a reasonable compromise for ease of use. Great fun game. 3-4hrs to complete. Not very long but it doesn't cost very much so still a great value. Can't wait for the next one.
Very cute little game. Would love to see an extension with a new world at some point!
Really fun helicopter sim, I only wish there were more missions. I hope this continues to get updates and attention from the dev(s)
I rise into a sky clouded with fear. Flying between the cats-boys and wind turbines. The helicopter controls quite unrefined. But soon i know it will be clear. I just have to find, the landing zone undefined.
Easy to get into and controls well. The story is charming but felt like a crutch for some of the simpler missions. I would have liked more challenge, either in the form of more complex missions or a scoring system. Overall enjoyed my time with it.
Short but sweet helicopter flight game with great bones. All together the 30 campaign missions are pretty easy and only take around 3 hours playtime to beat, but it's fun and relaxing. Excited to see what the developer builds on because these helicopter physics would be great once I'm flying under pressure!
Fun helicopter game. Nice simcade experience. Runs great on steam deck.
RotorSim is an excellent starter sim for anyone interested in semi-realistic helicopter flight and funkiness (developer has years of first hand flight experience). The approachable graphic design and control scheme makes it a joy to pick up and play in bite sized sessions, or binge all 30 missions in about 3-6 hours for a morning/evening/day you won't regret. You can tell from discussions at the developer Discord that this is a project of great passion and love for helicopter flying. This is also a perfect game to sit down and enjoy with any young gamers that you want to get hooked on the hobby. From the mahogany and leather writing desk of my 5 year old: " - An intense challenge for thrill seekers and guiding hand for the novice flyer (how you can land without [assist] modes on) - The realism of terminology is refreshing and delightful (how you can 'pitch" and 'roll' = real helicopter words) - Daring do and heroism is always welcome content in any game (how you can rescue people & cargo) - I never feel out of place, like coming home to a familiar sight (the compass that tells you where you're facing [east, west, north, south]) - inclement weather is an exciting and enjoyable addition to already riveting game-play (how weather makes it harder) - The diverse helicopter models are not only accurate, but beautiful, charming, and stimulating (the different helicopters makes it fly different)
A small game but decent fun. The controls take a second to learn but they make it feel more helicopter like which makes it fun. The sound was great. I definitely recommend this if you want a helicopter game! I just wish the frequent rain didn't make it so you can't see anything, even though that may be realistic.
Fun little game, takes an hour or 2 to finish. Missions are pretty easy. Good game to practice helicopter flying for other games.
