Roguecraft DX is a turn-based roguelike set in a Lovecraftian dungeon that rebuilds itself every run. Fight tentacled horrors and scary chickens, and free a caged badger who'll fetch loot for you. Compact runs that respect your time: die, learn, and dive right back in!

About
Pick one of three heroes and descend into the dungeon, fighting your way down one floor at a time. Every level is generated fresh, so no two attempts play the same. When you die, you start over from the top.
Roguecraft DX takes about five minutes to learn. Getting good at it takes rather longer.
The critically acclaimed modern Amiga classic, now on PC.

Yes, if:
You want a roguelike you can pick up without reading a manual
You'd rather a run took half an hour than a whole evening
You'd like your first character to actually stand a chance
You think a badger following you through a Lovecraftian dungeon is a good idea
Probably not, if:
You're here for deep item identification, hunger clocks, inventory management and a hundred-key verb set. We built a deliberately compact system instead.

In Roguecraft, each of the three playable heroes brings a unique play-style and special abilities to the fight. They also represent different difficulty levels, so choose wisely! The Warrior delivers crushing blows, the Rogue blinks behind enemies for deadly backstabs, and the Wizard may be fragile, but unleashes powerful magic missiles.
Choosing a hero is choosing how hard the challenge is going to be.

Somewhere down there is a cage. Open it, pick up what's inside, give it a good scratch behind the ears, and it goes into your inventory until you need it.
Summon your familiar and it'll fight beside you and fetch loot you can't reach, but only for a handful of turns. It's there to get you out of a tight spot. Knowing when to let it out is half the trick.
Yes, one of them is a badger.

Classic Mode
Play the original procurerally generated 15-level dungeon, fight your way through its depths, and defeat the boss at the end.
Endless Dungeon Mode
Looking to prove yourself? Enter the Endless Dungeon, where the challenges get progressively tougher the deeper you go.
Chicken Run Mode
Want a tough challenge with a fun twist? Play as a Chick Un and see how far you can make it!

Every descent is unique. The dungeon reshapes itself with every run, ensuring a fresh challenge and new surprises each time you play.

Designed to respect your time, most runs last between 30–40 minutes, perfect for a focused session or a quick escape.
Every descent is generated fresh: new rooms, new routes, new ways to die. Unlabelled potions you probably shouldn't drink. Secret rooms you'll only find if you're paying attention.

Hand crafted isometric pixel art in the tradition it came from, every monster, shadow and flagstone placed deliberately. The dungeon oozes atmosphere, and the chickens have considerably more personality than strictly necessary.

For time immemorial a legend has been told of a dark, deadly dungeon containing unimaginable horrors and riches beyond belief. Enough riches and magic to make you a king, THE king even.
Tales of the dungeon was found in an ancient Egyptian library many years ago. The scrolls told rumors of an ancient dark presence and a magic amulet. The legend also tells of a wakening and of horrors to come. Your search carried you across the world - one riddle leading to the next.
Finally you are standing at the entrance of a dark and mystical dungeon. You, Zendar, a warrior, a wizard, or uhm, a rogue… are ready to defeat the monsters and gather the riches waiting below!
You just need to take a leak first.
Step into the dungeon. Embrace the unknown. The depths of Mordecoom await!

Originally developed in Assembly for the Commodore Amiga, Roguecraft has been faithfully ported to PC, preserving its authentic retro charm while bringing the experience to modern systems.

Beautiful retro game, however my bones lie scattered on the floor a lot. It gets easier when you stop fighting everyone you meet.
super Spiel! Ich habe es sehr viel auf meinem Amiga gespielt, später dann noch auf dem Analogue Pocket als GameBoy Color Version. Es war auch interessant den Programmierer auf der Amiga40 zu treffen.
Roguecraft DX is the slightly improved version of an Amiga homebrew game (that the devs also ported to the Game Boy Color (eschewing the isometric perspective), the MEGA65 (whatever that is), and also have plans for a ZX Spectrum port). It's a very basic, isometric roguelike with a very Amiga-esque visual aesthetic where you can play as either a fighter, rogue, or mage (mage has to be unlocked). Basically, a solid attacker; a slightly more squishy attacker with a backstab that is cumbersome to set up; and a very squishy attacker with a ranged magic attack that doesn't do much damage and is hard to aim correctly. That said, if you played through the game with either character, you've basically seen it all. This isn't a drawback; the game is simple and doesn't give you the illusion of there being more than what you can see. Which is fun for a couple of attempts to beat the game, which is, compared to other roguelikes, pretty easy with the fighter if you play cautiously and plan ahead when to take potions or pick up hearts. The differently colored potions in the game have different effects each run (though they do stay consistent for each run), like haste, invisibility, strength, armor, uncover map, repel enemies, and so on. Most effects are temporary, though the most useful is either HP regeneration (not to be confused with instant HP refill from the green potions that always have the same effect) or the extra 3 armor points. Throughout the dungeon, you also find hearts that can refill your HP bar like the green potions, and occasionally, when beating enemies, you can get blue diamonds (that increase your attack power) or red diamonds (that increase your HP). All this is very basic, but at least for a couple of runs until you beat the game quite fun. Every couple of levels you get a slight shift in scenery visuals, new enemies, and the core gameplay is quite addictive. It's the usual: just one more room until you look up 2 hours later to realize you maybe should stop playing. Simple, fun, but once you've beaten the game, there's really no good reason to go back to it. But for the time it lasts, it's worth it if you can get it cheap.

I'm really enjoying this game so far - a stripped down turn-based dungeon crawler with awesome Amiga style graphics and music. Although the controls and goals are simple, there's a skill in knowing when to fight, when to walk away, when to use your limited potions, when to lure creatures into traps and when to UNLEASH THE BADGER. Also, bonus points for letting the player fuss the badger. Really good for playing fairly short runs and getting a little further each time. If this had been out on the Amiga when I was a wee 'un, I would have lost my mind. Nice work Badger Punch Games.
if you know what a" true" Rogue game is then you'll love this !!!
I had bought the game first on itch, in its AMIGA version, but to be able to play it, I would have to set up Whdload in an emulator, and that process is very stressful, which gave me a headache. In the end, I requested a refund, and now the developer is releasing the game on Steam, recoded in the Unity Engine. Really, thank you very much for releasing this game here.
Well, in the game description the devs clearly stated that the game is quite basic but I think it is still quite a good game for what it is. Even though it is quite simple, you can't really play it on auto-pilot. It still requires some decisions to be made about your resource management or knowing when to retreat. The graphics and music are great.
It's a simple, beautiful and to the point roguelike that plays exactly like the original rogue. I have only nice things to say about it, and the only suggestion I have for the developers would be to have a skip turn button on the interface to click on. It's much more relaxing to play with just the mouse and it disrupts the flow when I have to use the keyboard to skip the turn.
Controller controls are horrible To the point of asking for a refund and no i drank no potions this game is just a major disappointment
I'm going to say positive with caveats, because the game is exactly what it says it is - a very simple and short dungeon crawler. +Gorgeous pixel art and fun soundtrack +3 different characters to play with well defined roles +Very easy to pick up and play -For the extreme simplicity, the game is too long. 15 levels doesn't sound like much, but when you don't see more than 3 potion types per run and your move set is minimal, even that feels like a tall order -Secret rooms aren't very rewarding, and from what I saw always included enemies and a yellow potion - nothing more. If you rolled a crappy yellow potion when you started the run, they're worthless All in all, had a decent time for 10 bucks.
