I has zero expectations for this game going in and... it is pretty brilliant to be honest. The art style is wonderful, the progression is pretty standard in terms of a rogue-lite, and the flow is fun and engaging. It is one of those "just one more run" games that gets addicting. These games stay hidden for a long time until someone comes out and shows it to other people and this one deserves some more love. Two issues I had with this game are: - The tutorial doesn't have a great flow. Some things are not explained well and can be confusing. - The "nexus" where you prepare before going out has some unorganised elements where the player has no idea what they are supposed to do (ex. the mod configs on the weapons, the research area) This is a game worth taking a look at.
I just played the game and I even brought it to my YouTube channel, I recommend it it has very good controls and the commands respond very well, fun gameplay, call attention to the soundtrack which we like a lot I recommend the game for anyone who likes roguelites Reminded me a lot of games I played in childhood with supernintendo my only request is that they add the portuguese language
Highly satisfying and surprisingly deep gameplay. If you love blowing things up, this is the game for you! Once you get the feel of the game, there is also a neat weapon modding system that allows you to customize your playstyle and come up with powerful combinations. Also features some amazing cutscenes and lots of clever details that make the game feel like a real gem.
Rogue Invader is an adrenaline-fueled journey through space that had me hooked from the moment I blasted off into the unknown. What sets this game apart is not just its addictive gameplay and retro-inspired visuals, but also the unique experience of having the developer watch me play during my livestream. From the intense firefights to the heart-pounding moments of exploration, Rogue Invader delivers non-stop excitement and thrills. The gameplay is fast-paced and challenging, with each run offering a new opportunity to hone my skills and tackle the ever-changing alien threat. But what truly made my experience special was the developer interaction. Knowing that the creator of the game was watching me play added an extra layer of excitement and immersion to the experience. It felt like a truly collaborative effort, with the developer cheering me on and offering tips and insights as I navigated through the game's dangerous terrain. In addition to its engaging gameplay and developer interaction, Rogue Invader also boasts a fantastic soundtrack that perfectly complements the action on screen. The retro-inspired music kept me pumped up and ready for action, adding to the overall intensity and excitement of the gameplay. Overall, Rogue Invader is a must-play for fans of action-packed shooters and retro-inspired games. With its addictive gameplay, immersive visuals, and developer interaction, it offers a truly unique and memorable gaming experience that's sure to keep you coming back for more. So grab your blaster, jump into your ship, and prepare to face the alien invasion head-on in Rogue Invader!
Seems to be very thought-through. Every run has decisions to be made. Everything is balanced to forc. trade-offs. Mechanics are generally smooth

Good Game from what I saw, HOWEVER! came back to it after a couple of weeks being away and my save file was gone you definitely want to advance in this game and not lose it so that's the reason for my thumbs down. I'm not going to redo my progress that got erased.
It's good. Feels like a very polished Newgrounds game, but the animations and effects (explosions) are way better than what could be done in Flash. A 2-bit filter with dithering over a 2D landscape and 3D models, if I am not mistaken. tl;dr: it looks good. Shares some similarities with SYNTHETIK (tactical combat, weapon mods), Rogue Legacy (permanent upgrades purchased with collected resources after death) and Dark Souls (the leading cause of death is rolling off the edge of a cliff). Weapons feel good to use, especially explosives. Randomization is minimal, so it can get kind of repetitive. Could use more bosses. The humor is hit or miss – more often a miss. Not too tough unless you're aiming for a hard difficulty, single drop victory, which can get slightly frustrating. Normal is very easy, but it's presented as such – 'for players not used to action games', or something in that vein. Had a lot of fun. A very solid 7/10.
A fun 1-bit graphics (sort of) rogue-lite The graphics are something of a gimmick (I assume derived from a 1-bit game-jam some time back), but do work for giving the game a unique style. As a rogue-lite, it has a lot of progression that persists between deaths, so you shouldn't get trapped more or less repeating the same thing for too long. The actual controls are more or less standard for run and gun on the PC -- keyboard to move, mouse to aim. If you've played one since abuse, you know the basics. Audio-wise, the music is excellent. If I have a complaint, it's about the dialogue. It feels like there's a mismatch between the completely serious humans and the wisecracking aliens. So, yeah, get it. And the soundtrack.
