I love visual novels, so i was predisposed to like this anyway. But i ended up loving it! I won't spoil anything but the themes in this game are very relatable to what a lot of us are experiencing in quarantine right now. I laughed at the cute little jokes, i had feels over the story, and i thought the ending was perfect. Tip: click everything every day! The descriptions and thoughts your character has about them change every day, sometimes twice in a day :)
This is a really nice, warm game that lightened my night. I couldn't explain why, but the general aesthetic, dialogue, and gameplay just put a smile on my face. I would have paid as much as $10 for these 30 minutes of my life. I really hope the developers make more games. On a more personal note to the makers of Robot Island: Thank you. I needed this. I needed a bit of a wake up call, and a spike of happiness in my life. You help make the quarantine bearable.
There is one theme in movies, literature, games and all the other types of storytelling media which interests me most - how one person's words and actions, even very small can influence other people's life. Some of this influence is light, briefly noticeable, but sometimes it can shape other person's future. Robot Island, though a tiny project, is about small talking person into life's decisions. I'll be homest and say that I got the best ending for the first try and was somewhat scared to move the plot to worst ending (if there is any, I belive, there is). Graphics is charming and cozy, dialogues are well written, I wholeheartedly enjoyed Nim's point of view on different things in human life - games, furniture, jewelery... Nim is written as a robot-companion should be - he has his own perception of things and he is also cheerful and exited. A lot of chances to melt your heart! Enjoyable little game, comfortable and wholesome, although it's in your power to darken the event horison if you desire so.
My Experience The more I think about this game, the more incredible I think it is. The description on the store page really tells you everything you need to know about the game going in. It's given me a new and creative way to perceive a familiar issue, and for that I'm thankful. I'm glad that this game exists, although I'm not sure that the individuals who should play it will. The main question I'll leave you with is "why is this Captain on this ship by himself?" There is a reason given in-game...but I'm not sure it's the main one.
Courte visual novel plutôt feel good :)
I loved this game! Really relaxing atmosphere and good story. There isn't a single boring point in the game and the story uses the limited time really effectively. I also loved the characters as well as the level design. The captain is such an interesting and relatable character. It's easy to get attached to the people you meet in-game as well as our little robot attendant pal. The ship design is gorgeous and it's really fun to just wander around and explore. The controls may take a second to get used to, but once you get the hang of it the game is a breeze. Everything was gorgeous! The only thing to be careful for is the flashing lights, there's a lot of it in the opening and if you're sensitive to it, it might be overwhelming (they include a warning for it at the beginning of the game and you can also see the effect in the trailer, but I thought I would include it as a note just in case). I would highly recommend this game for anyone who loves visual novels, robots, and sci-fi themes! Enjoy your space adventure!
little robot man funny
robot island asks the player to be patient, to be thoughtful, and to empathize with an angry person who's life has gone off track. it speaks to the loneliness within/around us all, but also to our endless possibilities for growth and understanding. it reminds us how toxic capitalism often isolates us and mutilates our personal dreams into unrecognizable things. it also assures us that there is always a way to get back on track. the dialogue has a whimsical, lighthearted feel.. not to mention the music and visuals are totally enchanting ! i finished the game feeling humbled , and with the desire to increase my capacities for empathy and understanding. i can't recommend this game enough.
I loved it. It made me kind of sad at times, but it felt kind of realistic in a way. A character cannot express themself effectively and is hurtful to those around them, but is also hurting a lot. I think this game did an amazing job at capturing some of the intricacies of interacting with people that might be going through something. The sound is amazing. I love the art style, and it was easy to just kind of sink into the game. I would've paid more, and I will definitely be recommending this to friends. 10/10.
