Area 05
Your road begins in Area 05, an evacuated zone located in the southeastern part of Finland. In Area 05, you will find shelters, traders, tasks, and starting loot for initial survival.
Your peaceful life in Area 05 is often interrupted by hostile Bandits, an anarchist group taking advantage of the lack of authority in the area.
Once you have gathered enough loot and equipment, your road continues toward the east, where you will find the Border Zone, a guarded border line between Finland and Russia.
Border Zone
Each Border Zone map has a crossing point with different challenges. Some crossing points may include mines or physical obstacles, while others require using waterways with boats.
On top of these challenges, the Border Zone is guarded by a group called Guards. These foreign border guards are armed, corrupt, and often rely on air support to prevent people from crossing the border.
Vostok
If you manage to cross the Border Zone, you will enter Vostok. Located in Russia, Vostok is a high-risk, high-reward zone and holds the most valuable loot in the game.
Every Vostok map is a permadeath map. If you die in Area 05 or Border Zone, you only lose the equipment and loot you're carrying, but if you die in Vostok, you lose everything.
Vostok is controlled by the Military, an armed troop with heavy weaponry and the ability to use armored vehicles. The Military faction is the most dangerous faction in the game, and they have one objective: to push you back where you came from.
Time of Day
The game uses a 24-hour day & night simulation where lighting conditions change dynamically with sun and moon cycles. You can manipulate game time by sleeping, but most of the time, you will need to prepare for darkness when roaming through the game world.
Weather
The game has randomized weather states that vary from sunny to dark skies with thunder and everything in between. If you are lucky, you may even see northern lights on a clear night sky.
Seasons
If you survive long enough, the game world will shift from summer to winter, and you will start facing issues related to snow and cold. You can also choose constant summer or winter modes for your playthrough.
Events
On top of the changing lighting conditions and weather, dynamic events occur every now and then in the game world. These events vary from small ambient sounds to aerial events, like airdrops and crash sites, to faction-based special events.
Scavenge
Every playthrough is a different experience where loot and luck are core components of game progression. Scavenge, trade, and craft hundreds of unique items based on real-world parameters and progressive loot tiers.
Loot Systems
The game uses physically-based loot and loot containers, where loot never spawns in the same places. You can find hundreds of loot items in each map, and anything that logically looks like storage for loot is an interactable loot container. You can find consumables, clothing, medical items, tools, electronics, weapons, attachments, and much more.
UI & Inventories
Handling loot and items is done through tetris-style inventories with dynamic icons, item combining, item stacking, and quick actions to make the looting experience seamless part of the game.
In-game Traders
You can trade items with in-game trader characters using an intuitive bartering system. Each trader is specialized in certain themes, like tools, medical supplies, weapons, and furniture.
Bartering
The trading system doesn’t use money and is purely based on bartering. All items are valued based on their post-apocalyptic usage value, where items like medical supplies, food, and even toilet paper might hold high value.
Tasks & Services
Traders can be used for tasks and services like medical care or weapon maintenance. The task system is based on trader levels, and through tasks, you can obtain rare items, unlock new shelters, and get clues to lore-based questions.
Safe Place to Save
Shelters are safe zones and places to store loot. Shelters are the only way to save your game, and you often need to utilize multiple shelters when traveling toward the east.
Multiple Homes
All shelters are different from each other in terms of size and customization possibilities. One shelter may be a small cabin, while another might be a large concrete bunker. Certain shelters are unlocked by default, but some are only available through keys that you need to earn through trader tasks.
Shelter Customization
All shelters have a default template in terms of furniture, but everything is customizable through a decoration mode. This mode can be activated inside the shelter and gives you the ability to modify all furniture-related elements. You can catalog, move, and rotate all existing furniture however you want, and you can acquire new furniture through crafting or trading.
Item Placement
Once you have your preferred shelter layout ready, you are ready to start placing items for storage. You can use furniture containers for storage, but you also have the ability to place individual items wherever you want. All items are physics-based, and once you place them, their positions save automatically when you exit the shelter.
Your Road, Your Character
Road to Vostok is a hardcore survival game, but it doesn’t force you into specific playstyles. You are not forced to enter the permadeath zone, you don’t have to care about the lore, and your character isn’t tied to any specific role or theme.
In some playthroughs, you can be a combat-oriented character with military gear, and in the next, you can be a lonely fisherman playing the harmonica on a remote island.
You create the story, the game provides you the tools.

Reviews
although Road to Vostok is still in early access, it is one of the best single player tactical shooter games i have played. everything from managing your gear and loadout to the tactical awarness of your surroundings against AI vs player, i would defently like to see more side quests from the traders to keep you on your toes aside from the exsiting quests. i would also like to see more of a weapon veriety and explosives (like RPG) to take out the BTR for added excitement haha and other LMG & assult rifles ect. I am excited to see what Antti has in store and i cant wait for what this game has in store fore us!! as its still in early access there are acouple bugs such as light/ texture flickering at the traders and in the open, i would recommend Road to Vostok to everyone who love tactical survival shooters where every decition means keeping your saved game or having it wiped

ZZZZzzzzz, ill come back in a year or two and them maybe its cooked long enough. 5 boxes, 4 corpses and 0 loot. I played the demo a while back and i was thinking this could scatch the part of my brain tarkov did, nope
Ии душит, лучше в аномали гамма поиграть
Found an Ak before food, felt like a child in Iraq
Most likely the most boring game I've had the displeasure of playing........
Killed by AI shooting through walls and laser beam accuracy means instant headshots. Lost everything 5 minutes of walking out the starting house from AI that can see you through dozens of bushes. Just play Tarkov PVE if you want a game like this. There is a good game here beneath the cheating AI. Refunded for now...
-You cant save and quit outside of a shelter without the game killing your character and sending them back to it. -Looting is boring and tedious. There are no real POIs to loot. Everything is everywhere, but seemingly nowhere at the same time. Unless youre looking for canned food, alarm clocks, or opened enough 100's of containers to finally find a key for a loot room. -There are only 4 active enemy AI on any map at any time and will only respawn until you kill 10 of them. The game is lifeless without the scripted jet flyovers that occasionally happen over the empty map. -There is no way to actively invest time into trader tasks because they all rely on RNG from opening literally anything. The only quests ive managed to complete are the ones that asked for items you see in every other container. -It took me roughly 19.5 hours to find my first key in a random pile of trash bags. -Aside from getting my FIRST helmet, AK-12, 1 grenade, and an IFAK after damn near 20 HOURS, 90% of the loot in that room was the same generic trash outside the room. -Keys are one time use and the door relocks upon entering a new instance of the map it is on. -You cant save and quit outside of a shelter without the game killing your character and sending them back. The game feels like it progresses very slowly, then plateaus until you find insanely rare 1 use keys. The time investment this game requires, even for a single sitting, isnt hardcore or punishing. Its incredibly frustrating.
This game will be a recommendation when the dev(s) actually add something meaningful and engaging to the game.
4-March-2026 Pros: -It has guns and suppressors. Cons: -Ever see a person strafing 100 yards away and zip a dude in the head with a pistol? This game does it quite often. -This is not a "good tactical shooter". It requires absolutely zero tactics. -Beware of mass positive reviews in the review section. Most the positive reviews seem like fake, dev sponsored ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. -AI has an aimbot, no tactical sense and uber stealth shoes unless they are in extremely close proximity. -Backpacks don't let you hold more with a larger pack, they only increase weight capacity. -No compass or area map, only world map. -There is no real save system, you have to go all the way back to your cabin or you loose all your gear and loot if the game crashes, you exit to desktop or you die. To me, this seems less like a design choice and more like lazy developing. -Dialogue with NPC's consists of mumbling, akin to pigs farting. -Cabin is extremely small, severely limiting storage. -Most of the furniture is useless and serves no real purpose. -Items don't stack. -You can't sell your salvage and save up your resources. Only barter for mostly useless junk or store items in the extremely limited space in your cabin. -The demo is not representative of the actual gameplay. Loot in the demo is far more prolific and varied and of a much higher class than you'll find in the actual game. -There are only 5 maps currently. -There are substantially more flaws that I'm not going to bother listing. This "game" honestly seems like a Beta build with almost no actual balancing, poor design choices and an extremely stupid AI. Add in a clunky inventory controls and poor UI elements and playing is a chore. TLDR: This game is barebones. Skip it entirely or wait until it's inevitable price reduction to the 5 dollar range. Unturned is a far more rewarding experience and it's free.
there is no real sense of adventure and no real points of interest. takes ages to get anywhere "more" dangerous. the item only trading is so janky. the npcs shoot from miles away with almost no muzzle flash and directional sound is terrible. Im almost concerned this game is just malware fronted as a game. I cant believe all the good reviews are real. I should have listened to the people saying snore fest.
