Fun logic puzzle game. Basically if you turned the process of making a musical biopic into a game, I think this is what you'd get. The soundtrack is the highlight for me. The songs are excellent and feel so authentic, really incredible. They're worth the price of admission alone, which is a steal. Have fun and enjoy the music!
I really enjoyed this game. It has an engaging story surrounding the music industry and it was fun to be able to go through clues myself and put things together.
Of the collection of great musical detective games by Tim Sheinman, Riley and Rochelle is probably the most confident in its storytelling and mechanics. As with the other games, fantastic voice acting and a masterful display of musical evolution where each track truly feels placed in the history of the musical scene and the characters you are learning about. Especially great are the optional quizzes to test the knowledge you have absorbed from the story which help make the secondary characters feel alive.
Extremely good deduction game, plays to its strengths extremely well and has some really nice art and great voice work. Haven't finished it yet as some of these puzzles are a tad fiendish but the story is keeping me going.
this game is amazing. i honestly feel like i have paid way too little for this astonishing masterpiece. you follow the two musicians Riley and Rochelle through different diary entries. you have to deduce clues to figure out on which day they got written. it starts of relatively easy but with every chapter you proceed it gets harder. every little word can matter. sometimes you have to use google to determine a specific date. finding it can be tricky if you dont put in the correct search words. i had a lot of fun engulfing the journey through the 8 chapters (albeit chapter 8 is completely optional) the way the story unfolds is phenomenally written and although Riley and Rochelle are two normies (when we look past the fact that they are rather famous) the puzzles make you still enjoy every piece of the story. the songs featured in this games are awesome, they are all exclusively written for this game! I cant imagine the amount of work that has been put into it! And the drawings too. AND the cherry on top: this game has voice acting! And the voices are both fitting and goosebumping. i strongly recommend you to try this game out. it's only 1€! (far too less imo). And while it isnt as hard as The Roottrees are dead or Return of the Obra Dinn (i only really got stuck three times and only bc I was very stupid and couldnt read properly lmao) i still enjoyed every bit of the 11 hours of playtime. the puzzles are really creative so it doesnt matter whether they are easy or not. the game features 4 endings depending on your decisions. sadly it doesnt feature an internal note feature but i strongly advice you to take notes on everything, even the dates because trust me, you will need it! And if you like the soundtrack, make sure to purchase it, to further support the developers! Its also just 1€ so it shouldnt hurt much :)
Truly a hidden gem of a game. It has its issues in the form of a few typos and glitches when it comes to scene swapping, but overall this is an excellent deduction game with a story that has you feel for the characters while causing you to wonder what comes next. On top of that, the music is REALLY good (except What It Takes that song is cheesy as hell) and fits the decades so well. It's crazy that this has so little recognition, if you're prepared for a lot of reading, thinking, and looking at calendars from the 1900's, then you will certainly enjoy this.
I always enjoy the gameplay of Tim Sheinman's music culture detective games!
A very original deduction type game which go through the 90's and mostly through music during this period. It's a fairly easy game which makes it very chill, playing it and reading the pages as we listen to the very nice music that we can play in the background, this type of game should be highlighted more !
