Disclaimer: I got this for free for play testing the game during development. I put like 40hours on the playtest so I have a lot of time on this game. Rifle storm is a fun throwback to the old turn based strategy flashgames that many of us played as kids, except with modern rogue like elements thrown in. I've had a lot of fun with the game so far, the stages can be fairly challenging, especially at higher levels. You have to plan out your moves quite a bit to be able to overcome enemies who are much stronger than your guys. The random events are pretty good, some are somewhat cheesable but they often give you can actual choice of options for different trade-offs which you have to fit into your strategy. Overall I think the game is worth a play, especially if you have some flash game nostalgia.
This game hits just the spot for me - the game mechanics are simple enough to pick it up quickly, and it scratches that turn-based squad tactics itch in its own way and I'm sure I'll be playing this for a long time. A game usually doesn't last very long, which makes it perfect for taking a break from whatever and just playing a round or two to relax. It's not XCOM, nor does it aim to be. In fact, all that it does aim to be, it pulls off more or less successfully. The progression through the game world is very obviously inspired by and borrowed from FTL, but as a whole it plays very differently since both battles and other encounters where the actual strategy gaming takes place are their very own things. Just like FTL, however, the random factor might sometimes affect the outcome a bit too much. Maybe it's got a few other rough edges, but nothing that detracts from the fun in any meaningful way. If you like turn-based strategy games and some simple fun casual gaming, just pick this one up.
Loving it so far ! I grew up playing modern tactics, and this is fun in a new way. I'm already facing a good challenge, and there looks to be plenty to unlock and keep challenging myself with. Turn based combat, tons of items and effects to wager, and interesting randomly generated events and maps are fun as well! Well polished indie game.
DANK MEMES BOIZ
too much random. Every next start u will wait for a miracle that give u a win. Unclear mechanic battle
i liked it. it reminded me of final fantasy tactics, ftl, into the breach with a touch of binding of isaac. it doesnt go for realism but its a good thing since it allow it to give you fun toy like a radioactive knife or a mp5 that put peoples to sleep. Getting a good combo of weapons, reactions and gears can turn your squad into a group of immortal auto healing auto resurrecting soldiers that blow everyone up while they sleep on fire. give it a try!
Brought this game because of nostalgic memory of playing Modern Tactics series of flash games on shady sites. Still has some stuffs to polish but the core game is solid, if a bit too short
The game has an interesting setting and has the potential to be a good, even a great, game. Unfortunately there are some tweaks needed first. The interface says "explore the whole level", there should be a reminder or indicator that you've explored just a few nodes. The "water" requirement is too high, it limits players from exploring each level too much. Another thing that isn't good is that you can click-attack on any spot in your range. I understand that this is good for Area Of Effect attacks but most attacks have no AOE. There's also no indicator of what your chances are of succeeding in attacking. Like I'm point-blank with the enemy with a rifle. pretty sure it's gonna be a hit. There are lots of little improvements that can be made, because it's soooooo close to being like Into The Breach and Slay The Spire, there's potential for a lot of depth in the game.
