Interesting tower defense game. The restricted placement of the towers adds an extra challenge. You can also replay previous levels to get an extra XP. There a is a big variety of enemies, including some that become invisible (those are hard but fun to kill) Here is my gameplay sample: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiuRMMPS-Xk
This is a pretty good tower defense game. It's very challenging and well balanced. There's a decent variety of towers and upgrades. At a dollar, it's a real steal!
It's okay, compared to the average Steam tower defense game it is well above average, that said, it is not stellar, and could use some really basic, simple polishing up. The core game is that you have three tower types to place, but only where there is cleared ground of the correct color. There are a few elevated spots that let you put any tower type there, but so far only the blue towers seem to give me the expanded range to make them worthwhile. The blue towers hurls powerful projectiles; but you can only have two at a time and it takes awhile to recharge. Red is constant fire, and the green... not sure what it's deal is. You can only place them where the game allows, so there is very little in the way of strategic placement. They each level up based on experience points, they level up twice basically, then the third level splits into two types, so there is some decision making there. You have no control over targeting. In this regard it is very like Cursed treasure, an excellent TD game, without the art, style, humor and depth. There are strategic upgrades, and tactical actions. The upgrades are weird because they don't seem to be connected to earning the one to three cubes you can get based on how well you do on a level, but on leveling up thru experience points. Still, not a bad tree. There are three tactical options, the cheapest is hack, which only works on the levels with buildings you can hack on them so early on it doesn't do anything. The second is a barrage of lasers from above, and the third (I think) powers up your towers for a short period. Where the game lacks the most is in explaining things. I have played a lot of TD games and can figure some stuff out, but it would be difficult for someone new to the genre. It could also use some fluff, though that is a minor niggle. There is no pathing. There is a variety of foes, but again, no descriptions or explanations, so it is kind of wasted. They do look cool though. Sad to say, but the best thing might be the price point, at a buck, and at that price, and easy one thumb up. Addendum: Gets very grindy. ADDENDUM: Have to say, once I got past level five, it became pretty darn fun ADDENDUM: Creeping up on eleven hours and I think I am about done. Got all the levels but one. I wish there was more, I think I would continue, at least a level designer. Definately a good game, but with a lot of unrealized potential, could have been so much more.
I really like this game. I watched sampstragames play it and I picked it up as soon as I could. There are a few things that would be nice to have in-game, like tooltips when mousing over the towers before placing to show what they will do and to show what it will upgrade to before actually upgrading, and also a circle showing the area covered before the tower is placed down. But these are minor things. I am just about 2 hours into the game and so far I am having a lot of fun. I really like the talent tree, it lets you choose many variations of ways you want to play and you can have 3 separate games profiles if you want to play 3 different ways. Ever since Defense Grid I was looking for a tower defense game I like and enjoy and this one so far is it.
Really enjoyed this Tower Defense ride. I don't completely play through many titles, but I did here (took me 18 hours). Does not overwhelm you with options - but more than enough to make you think. A bit of grinding, but the levels are over fairly quickly and it gives you a chance to refine tactics. It also has that "one more quick try" element to it. Graphics are fairly minimalist but really suit the "computer" setting. A bit more formalised info on enemies, upgrades etc would help most players.
"Rezist: Tower Defense" is, to me, an immensely enjoyable game. It definitely has its downsides, but overall, I enjoyed it very much. This is a tower defense game where you have only three types of towers and, initially, limited space on which to build them (as you gain energy in the level, you can "format" more space and build additional towers). As you would expect, the towers can be upgraded as they gain experience, but what those upgrades do isn't clearly explained, especially when you can choose one of two upgrade paths. There is a global leveling-up system which strengthens the towers or alters certain behavior, and this leveling up happens fairly quickly as you play. There are only 13 levels/maps, but it took me 25 hours to get 3 stars on all 13 levels. In addition to the in-level upgrades and global upgrades, there are three special actions you can perform in a level once you have enough energy to do so -- 1) hack, 2) laser rain, and 3) overclock. Hack allows you to "format" an area so you can build a tower there. Laser rain is a directed attack (in addition to the towers) for which you select the target area. Overclock increases the speed at which your towers can attack, for a limited time (a few seconds). Personally, I found this game to be as much about strategy as it is about building and upgrading your towers. For example, do you build all towers as soon as possible or do you build towers closer to your base first and let them gain experience before building towers closer to the front line? Do you spend all of your energy building towers or do you keep energy in reserve in case you need to use laser rain or overclock? Do you close the holes from which extra enemies attack or do you leave those holes open so you can gain additional experience by killing additional enemies? These are questions you'll have to ask yourself as you play, and the gameplay may be significantly different depending on your choices. PRO: + Minimalist visual style allows you to more easily focus on what's important without distraction + Leveling up happens fairly quickly, without a lot of grinding (except toward the end) + There are only three defense/tower types, which may seem limiting, but suits this game well + The initial locations at which you can place towers works well + The action never felt boring, even though I kept playing the same levels several times in order to get three stars CON: - No options (not even music or sound volume) - No tutorial - No explanations of tower/defense upgrades - Sometimes, a tower can be upgraded in one of two ways, and there is no information explaining the differences - No explanation of various items - All text (except in the menus) is very small; on my TV, I couldn't read it at all - Only 13 levels/maps - No response from developer in discussion forums Even though I consider that list of cons to be important and a serious mark against the game, I still found the game to be very enjoyable, so I do recommend it as long as you are aware of what you are getting and you can accept the list of cons.
Addictive already. Only downside for me is the music. Have to use windows control to turn it down. But the gameplay is best so far I encountered in Tower Defense genre. One of the games I played that gave real value for the money. Love it.
Pretty good tower defence game. Not a lot of complicated graphics so if you have a lower spec system to play it on then you should have no problems. Could use an instruction screen to explain a few things but if you play it for awhile, you'll figure it out.
