At first I didnt expect much from this game. But I found it quite charming and relaxing. You only need two keys for control (space and later down arrow), so it is quite simple. Mechanism of building you own body back is interesting, if you dont mind some small grinding for upgrades. IF you are not achievement hunter, dont forget upgrade for eyes and ears to get full game experience.
Very repetitive but has a charming, unique feel to it with the upgrades you buy being your actual body parts. You can buy ears to listen to the game music and sounds, which is cool lmao
This is a one button game and appears to be a steam port of a mobile game. Even though it costs money to play on steam, there are some levels locked behind signing up to the developers mail list and what not, which seems pretty scummy. The game itself if pretty grindy at times for no real reason, has almost no story (there seems to be some story missing) and the levels are re-used frequently. All in all, it's pretty low effort. You can sink some time into this because it's not a bad game, but I don't really think it's worth spending time on
I found to Zombieking because I joined Return to Adventure Mountain's Discord. In general I dislike plattformers. They remind me too much of my time with the Gameboy Advance, and in general I prefer RPGs and Stories with Catharsis. That is - obviously - not what RotZK (Return of the ZombieKing) offers. Instead you get a solid Autorunner, which feels handcrafted despite of the procedural levels. The developer told me that due to the general fast pacing - and yes: RotzK is rather fast! - procedural level-generation would make more sense than (entire) handcrafting due to the size. So far: I disagree, because this voids the Speedrunning-Possibility. But I did not finish the game yet (and I am no speedrunner). Nevertheless: Games are an experience. Considering Movies, Music and even Youtube it is odd that players usually do not get into contact with the Game developers. While many Music Fans tend to know something about their favourite Artist, that is not the case for Games. In the case of RotZK I'd like to add that joining the Mailing List is worth it, simply to get background information (and the Bonus level. Some people said it would be crappy to "hide" the Level like that - I think that's nonsense!) I recommend RotZK to everybody who enjoys having a little challenge. Oh, und wenn du aus dem deutschen Raum kommst: lies dir die Spielbeschreibung durch. Ich habe mich über die Übersetzungs"feinheiten" sehr amüsiert!
Ehhhhh, too slow paced and samey, even 30 minutes in. I could see this being fun on a mobile device, but still it would need to be quicker.
buen juego unas 9 o 10 horas de diversión!!
Good ole jumping fun in this metroidvania-type runner.
Very addicting and challenging game. I purchased this to review it on our podcast, and keep finding myself going back to it, to play it more. The developer is active in the community, has created multiple addicting and easy to learn games, that are just challenging enough where you want to beat them, collect them, etc. Highly recommend it, it runs well, installed great, played well on my computer, and overall it was a fun game to explore. Picked up this game and another by the same developer while they were on sale, and I've definitely enjoyed it. I saw a glimpse of it in the livestream broadcast and was charmed by its visuals and its premise. The early game is about you familiarizing yourself with the mechanics and learning the common obstacles. The late game is where you ask yourself, "Okay, so I want [this power-up]... Which level can I play through a handful of times in a row and gather a bunch of coins the quickest?" In fact, I admire the sense of progression the game provides: visuals of your character, new abilities, and then bonuses to your cash flow for mastering use of your new abilities and becoming better at the ol' run-and-jump. The whole of the game is definitely accessible for a casual crowd, and there are a few surprises here and there that encourage you to power through the last dozen or so stages to witness the amusing ending. I'm not an achievement hunter, so although I missed out on those two achievements -not- connected to increased game progression, I still feel like I sucked enough out of the game that I'm satisfied. Personally I'm a hobby game developer (I use Clickteam Fusion, myself) and I'm always curious to see how other folks use tools like GMS to make the leap to paid indie game dev. I'm wishing this developer nothing but success on his future projects. You're like where I can see myself in five years if I play my cards right. :)
