🎬Gameplay Video🎬
https://youtu.be/-xdbwp7v9Rk Retro Revengers not surprisingly has a retro feel and is modeled on games of yesteryear. There are five different characters to play, all with their own type of jump and charge attack, and certain levels with different terrains, enemies, and traps, suite some characters better than others. In your first play through you play each of the five characters in turn, with simplified levels and five bosses to defeat. After completing that, you are able to run through the same levels again but can swap between the five characters at will, even changing multiple times on the same level, if you so wish. Each character has their own life health, so if your chosen character is about to die, you can change characters to stave off death, or if you reveal a health boost from any treasure chests, you can cycle through your characters and give it to the one who needs it the most. This makes it sound like a team effort, but realistically I just stuck to the character who was most suited to that level, and switched when there was a specialized jump to make or particular hazard that another character could deal with. I still didn’t switch that often though because, as you will find in your first play through, each level is suited to one character, rather than each level needing all characters to complete it. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3040824013 The second run is much more difficult with more traps, enemies, and bosses that are harder to defeat. Your characters gain the ability to perform a super charge on their special ability, whether that means you can jump even higher, or whether it adds distance to your ranged weapons, making the need for close combat less important, but it does take a while to charge, so can only be used in quiet spots and not when situations are frantic. There are different enemies in each stage and regular enemies who show up in others also. These range from flying hazards like birds who travel in a straight line and dragons which attack your position, to crabs which fire deadly bubbles at you and statues who spit out fire balls. There are plenty of moving platforms when you need to time jumps, and other platforms which are activated by switches. If you activate them at the wrong time, they can squash you going up or down. The stages all have a certain theme to them and have that typical retro look, and the sound is jaunty and engaging. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3040823900 There are five difficulty settings, so it should cater for most skill levels. I attempted it on the hardest difficulty and hardly got anywhere, so it can be very challenging if you so wish. The game is geared up to please speed runners, with speed run leader boards on every difficulty level.
🍳Conclusion🍳

Retro Revengers is a nice retro platformer, which should keep your interest for a while. Levels do repeat themselves though, getting harder with difficulty adjustments, so it can become a little repetitive seeing the same levels, but the difficulty changes do make the game play different with more traps and enemies. The five different characters bring some variety to game play also, but you will certainly have your favourite, in my case it was the one with the most fire power. The characters are quite large, and only have slight maneuverability in the air, so they can get hit quite easily especially in cramped conditions, but otherwise controls are quite solid. There is a story there but it’s just a typical platforming type of story without any depth. Make sure to turn off the cut scenes in the options once you’ve completed the story as otherwise, they repeat throughout the levels and are very annoying. Overall, I enjoyed my time with this game and would recommend it. 16bit時代頃をリスペクトしたナイスなドット絵アクションゲーム!
- The game is rather short--five short levels but you play through them a second time as harder versions plus a final boss rush. There are achievements for speed running and no-hit runs. - Normal difficulty is fairly hard. - There are a ton of (I assume) inside jokes but the humor was alright. I couldn't hate it. - The controls take some getting used to. - The ample bosoms are appreciated. Overall, Retro Revengers is a nice little novelty of a game. $10 is a little much for what it is but it's worth a try if you can get it on sale. It's not bad.
Retro Revengers is a retro platformer that's very much in the vein of the action platformers from the SNES era. You've got a character that has to traverse half a dozen screens, with some light platforming, lots of enemies and some obstacles in the way. To help with the traversal, your character has a weapon that can attack from a distance as well as a special ability. The twist is that Retro Revengers has five playable characters, each with their own unique weapon, special attack AND platforming abilities. For example, one character may have a triple jump while another may float or even hover a little, Yoshi-style. Each character must go through a stage while collecting some optional treasure chests and beat a boss that's no slouch before you can play the next one. These bosses tend to be quite good, difficult enough to force the player to play carefully while still being beatable on the first try if you're good enough. The weapon design is obviously inspired by Castlevania, but the game shines through its level design that never misses, as well as its soundtrack made by Megaman and Shovel Knight's composer. It's fun! Really fun, even. The controls are tight enough, combat is kept to an easy minimum, enemy patterns are never too tough to deal with, the music never feels boring... and getting the ability to switch characters at any time later on in the game makes replaying stages a breeze. Retro Revengers is obviously built for replayability thanks to this as well as its focus on speedrunning stages. A normal playthrough will be between 1 to 2 hours long depending on skill, with a couple hours more if you intend on getting 100%. Despite some negatives aspects like screen scrolling taking too long and treasure chests being a bit too hidden for their own good, the game is a blast from the past with some modern QoL to boot. Miles beyond most "retro inspired" platformers that focus on frustration and limited lives while still being a bit of a challenge, Retro Revengers is a hard recommend from me!
Full review at: https://thegamehoard.com/2023/08/30/retro-revengers-pc/ Retro Revengers’s goofy game humor and good music are nice touches, but the needle it threads best is its approach to level design that feels familiar but not too closely derived from any old school influences. The five heroes don’t feel like they’re too often directly copying any platforming powers or attacks, and even where some inspirations are easier to spot, the level designs still feel like they test those skills in their own way. The Revengers almost all have some situation they’re enjoyable to play as and enemies make progress suitably challenging, but while the game decides to rehash its first five levels, the brisk pace and some small shake-ups mean the content recycling doesn’t drag the game down, especially with the complex final boss wraps up the adventure with quite a highlight.
Hardcore old-school action game that doesn’t bore you with modern mechanics. The story is basic and is only included for fun. Five "heroes" who spend their days playing video games are sucked into a new dimension. The queen bestows them with a power and sets them on their journey. But not together, for each hero is put into a separate level, complete with a distinct theme. Despite the fact that you have five characters, each with a unique weapon and super power, they all play the same. All you have to do is press the attack button and keep moving forward. However, not all heroes are fun to use. The knight, for instance, throws grenades in an arch that makes it hard to hit anything. One of the main reasons for repeatedly smashing the attack is to destroy opposing bullets. There are no secondary weapons, ammo limitations, or other restrictions. You can also utilize your super attack at any time by holding down the attack button for a few seconds. Holding the jump button is another unique feature for each character, but it’s only used for traversal. Stages aren’t long, so the game can be finished in an hour or two. Each hero has a stage that concludes in a boss battle. The stages are colorful and follow the old-school template of platforming coupled with enemy extermination. However, a twist comes after you beat all five stages - you need to go through them again, but this time you can swap between heroes. Even with same enemies appearing for different heroes, they’re quite unique overall. Heroes might use special mechanics, but they're really simple and don't require any learning. There’s only one thing preventing you from going slow: time. You got five minutes to complete the current screen or die. The score and coins are irrelevant. Coins can be used to buy continues when you waste all your lives, but you can also select a stage from the main menu. Chests that appear when you walk straight over them are the closest thing to a game's collectibles. Because the game gives no indication that they're there, you're motivated to take a walk over any flat area to find them. Each stage has ten chests. But don't worry, stages may be replayed from the main menu. Achievements are given for completing tasks such as beating a stage, locating all treasures in a stage, or clearing a stage without being hit even once. You will get some for speed running and completing the game on higher difficulties. Even for a skilled gamer, most of them are quite difficult.

¿Quieres poner a prueba tus habilidades?
