Nice old-school platformer that comes with a big warning! It'll take you 30-90 minutes to finish the entire game, it is way too short. There are 20 levels and you need about 1-3 minutes to finish each level. If the game was at least two hours long, I'd support it wholeheartedly. Other than this issue, it plays like a Mario game, with striking pixel work, and solid, if painfully short, level design. Sigi is a fun, little classic platformer, but the game's length will fart away many potential Melusina fans.
Fun little platformer. A hilarious stupid story, Fun mario-like gameplay about an hour long, and amazing art and animations. Its not the kind of game you will tell your grandchildren about, but its definetly worth the 3 bucks!
Short Review | Sigi - A Fart for Melusina
Sigi - A Fart for Melusina is a neat little 2D-Platformer, built with Unity Engine, heavily inspired by old NES-classics. It's an indie project, mostly done by one developer that focusses on fun and rewarding gameplay without having to figure out a difficult control scheme. Your goal is to kill the last boss, finish the game and get a score depending on how fast you've been and how many coins you had in your pockets while doing so.
Story
Sigi, a small knight who seems to have some flatulent issues, tries to rescue the beautiful mermaid Melusina. While doing so, he fights against a small roster of different enemies and kills some bosses to free his precious love. So to say.
Gameplay
Plain and simple. Sit down, get yourself a controller with at least a directional pad or analogue stick and two different buttons. Alternatively, use your keyboard and remember to WASD for movement, J to jump and K for fire. Collect coins, kill enemies to collect even more coins, find the word S-I-G-I flying in every one of the 20 available levels to get more lives, collect food and drinks that won't make Sigi smell better but it helps. There is a small variety of weapons and although I think that some attacks are more useful and easier to use than others, they add a small amount of challenge to the table. Also, you should keep an eye out for hidden caves and treasures~
Graphics
Oldschool 8bit-pixel art with a nice color scheme, making it easy for pixel lovers and new gamers alike to feel a retro vibe that satisfies those of us who aren't in need for massive 3d-art.
Sound
Great chiptunes made by Saskrotch. If you haven't heard of him yet, check his other tunes here Saskrotch Bandcamp, where the soundtrack for Sigi can be bought for 2 bucks, too.
Verdict
While Sigi might not be the most innovative platformer I've played in a while now, I still liked the retro feeling and easy-to-pick-up controls. Get yourself a seat and finish the game in 0,5 -1,5 hours, depending on how comfortable you're with the genre in general. While I didn't find myself challenged with the gameplay in general, it took me some lives to finish the final boss. Replayability isn't that much if you've already found every secret on your first playthrough but anyone who likes to strike some highscores might find himself finishing it multiple times. Overall, a solid gaming experience with nice pixel graphics and lovely soundtrack that easily justifies the small amount of money it's asking for. It's-a me, Sigi!
A brief retro-style platformer that takes inspiration from Mario and Mega Man. You find a variety of weapons in levels to fight monsters such as zombies, ghosts, and witches. Unfortunately it's a very short game, but it was a lot of fun and worth the price of admission.
This wasn't that bad of a platformer. - mild fun while it lasted. It's short length and the recycled level backgrounds ultimately proved to be offputting. At any rate, won't be revisiting this one or recommending it. I hear there's a sequel in the works - hopefully they take the wasted potential from this one and apply it to that, as there is indeed some potential here for a worthwhile title.
The best way to describe this game is a kids version of ghosts n goblins. You play as a knight, trying to rescue a mermaid from monsters. The gameplay is very similar in that your main weapon is a throwing lance and along the way you can pick up other weapons like daggers, axes etc. Monsters you fight are also inspired from that series and include stuff like zombies, skeletons, bats and the like. It feels like ghosts n goblins but is very easy. You can take 3 hits instead of 2, there are liberal checkpoints scattered across the games 20 levels, tons of 1-ups and health power ups as well. Even if you die on a boss, they do not regain their health so you just pick up right where you left off, not that you will die that often, if ever. The game has a nice 16 bit look to it, tight controls and it is fun to play. You can breeze through the whole game in about 30-40 minutes, and tbh it is nice once in a while to take a break from challenging games, zone out, and just enjoy a fun, well made game. I enjoyed it, if you like the ghouls n ghosts series style of gameplay it is worth checking out, and if you have kids and want them to play a game like ghosts n goblins without giving them high blood pressure it is well worth a look, For such a cheap asking price there is no reason not to play this game if it looks interesting to you at all.
he farted, YOU MUST LAUGH!!! THE GAME DEMANDS IT!!!!! 03/10 short meh platformer with janky bosses got the game for $0.50
Awesome little platformer that can be completed within an hour. The game has some cool enemies and bosses, none of which are overly complicated. You collect coins that add lives as well as finding extra lives throughout some of the levels. And if you're struggling with lives, you can replay any level as many times as you like to boost up you life count. This makes for a game fun for a younger audience and still enjoyable for older folks. For a few dollars, you can't go wrong if you're looking for a fun and quick platformer. Looking forward to the sequel!
