Sophia’s journey leads to the Minotaur' Island, where she faces deadly trials, navigates treacherous trails, solves puzzles, all while fighting and staying one step ahead of the army chasing her. But the true challenge awaits, as the terrifying creature hidden behind the myth will soon resonate with her…

Followed by many enemies, each drawn to the Island to reclaim a mysterious treasure, you must navigate a treacherous maze. Rely on your agility, tricks and sharp reflexes to outsmart enemies, perfect your parries, and unleash powerful strikes to survive deadly encounters.

Shift between the Middle Age of Sophia and ancient Minoan times, where echoes of the past shape the battles of the present. Unfold a new story in the universe of A Plague Tale, through the entwined destinies of two heroes linked by fate and the Macula’s mysterious legacy.

Guided by the knowledge safeguarded in your notebook, follow in your crew’s footsteps to explore a richly detailed world, unravel its secrets, and face deadly trials. Use a stolen Minoan sphere to solve ingenious puzzles by manipulating light - a force woven by Daedalus into the island’s very heart.

It is said that only a few came back from the island. Lurking in the shadows lives a restless presence. It follows you around, seemingly knowing your every move, as it hunts through the island’s depths.
Every step is a risk. Every pause, a potential end. You can’t stop, only hide, outsmart, and push forward. Can you survive each trial and every step or will you join those who never came back?

I am not looking forward to making this review, but here goes: As a Plague Tale fan, this was a huge letdown. The story, gameplay, pacing, characters, everything was a step backwards in the wrong direction. This game quite simply should've been the first in the series. Allow me to explain myself. I vastly enjoyed Plague Tale Innocence and Plague Tale Requiem. While some people dismiss it as The Last of Us with rats set in the 13th century, I think it is more than that: It is a deeply moving story about a woman and her brother surviving in a dark fantasy world filled with mystery: Why is there a rat plague? What was the cause? How do we stop it? If you have played those two games, you'll find out due to a deeply moving story with memorable characters, brilliant pacing, and arresting gameplay. Both these games are some of the best stealth I have ever witnessed in a video game series. Resonance is basically a prequel to the entire series. Sophia, side character of Requiem, is having visions of Greek warriors, minotaurs, and tentacle monsters. What does it all mean? She goes to the Greek island of Crete to find out. What happens is a very Plague Tale tragedy filled to the brim with puzzles, combat (Yes, you heard me right, combat), BIG ACTING, and adventure. Now, let me get the positives out of the way: Once again, the atmosphere and graphics can't be topped. Visually, it's a masterpiece, with stunning graphics that make you forget what real life is. The acting is once again top notch, with Twitch streamer extraordinaire Anna Demetriou literally nailing it as Sophia. While I do think it's a bit melodramatic at times (This is Plague Tale we're talking about), generally speaking, the acting lands. The facial animations are a bit stiff during certain moments though which kinda broke the immersion, but that's the least of my complaints. And once again French composer Oliver Deriviere kills it with the soundtrack, bringing in Greek choirs alongside a wide variety of European instruments to create a haunting atmosphere. However, let's talk about the story and gameplay, which I have big problems with. The combat....it's boring. Basically X does everything. Press X to fight. Hold X for critical strike. Press Y to kick. That's it. For a game that's centered around combat it's very very basic. And the fact that there is no lock on system means enemies will and can come out of nowhere and kick your ass. It leads to some painfully boring fights along with some unfair advantages on the boss battles, which can be at times brutally unfair. I had to turn the difficulty down during a certain boss fight near the end cause I kept dying over and over and over again due to it's clunky timing and strange hitbox. Also, the puzzles. Jesus Tap Dancing Christ, they went overboard with these light puzzles, didn't they? I get why they did it because of the story revolving around light, but my God, it was too much. A lot of these puzzles were very basic and kind of ruined the pacing of the game. There were a few headscratchers as well that I had to look up a walkthrough for. I won't name names, but there was one puzzle that made no logistical sense to me whatsoever, and even after looking it up, I was annoyed that it still made no sense. Those who played the game should know what I'm talking about. The story....I'm sorry, but it does not come anywhere close to the lofty emotional ambitions that Innocence and Reqiuem achieved. Half of the time I didn't really know what was going on because as soon as anything got explained, things were exploding and people were dying. It does get explained near the end, albeit kind of poorly and it would only make sense if you played the 2 previous games. Also, the characters just aren't as interesting to me as previous titles. Leni and Faro just aren't as interesting to me as Amecia and Hugo. You just don't feel for them that much. And when tragedy strikes, it's not as much as a punch to the gut as it is a wet fart. I just don't care about these people. I damn near cried tears of ugly sadness at the end of Requiem. It wasn't even close to a punch to the emotions with Resonance. Not even close. So yeah, this was a huge letdown. I can see how if someone who never played any of the previous titles might have a good time, and honestly, play this one as your first Plague Tale game. Just know it gets better from there. So much better.
Hey remember Diablo 1 - my son was next to me hitting the button to refill health (he may have been 10, I now have a grandson). Anyway Resonance is a great game! I will mostly comment on the use of a controller for us old timers who prefer a keyboard. I am half way thru and have been using a controller, be not afraid. This is a great game to experience a controller. And have a great time going thru the game, I'm addicted!
The game takes around 10–15 hours if you explore all the locations and go for all the achievements, or about 8–9 hours if you just focus on the main story. Overall, the game is fantastic. The visuals are incredible: the environments, motion capture, animations, art direction, colors, and cinematography all look amazing. On top of that, the story is really well written and kept me interested throughout the whole game. If you enjoyed the previous entries, or you’re simply looking for a great and engaging single-player experience, this is definitely worth playing. A special thank you for the Ukrainian localization. I could have played it through Game Pass, since I already have a subscription, but I decided to buy the game instead, and I don’t regret it at all. It was a great experience and personally, it’s one of the best games I’ve played this year!
Update: tried to make a refund because can't pass the chapter because of bug and got rejected, thx guys! Well, the game story is interesting, and...that's all, then are only stupid ideas and bugs bugs bugs and another bugs. 1: Fighting is interesting also but, u need to be ready that if the the enemy started and attack then even if u ran 20 metters away he anyway will hit u, or tleport to u and hit. 2. The most annoyng bug is the moving system, if u're running and try to jump ur character will stop move after jump, u need to unpress 'W' and press again, so in the fighting or if someone is chasing you that is almost always lethal. 3. we are in 2026 year and developers can't program binding mouse buttons, impressive no ? 4. when enter in menu buttons didn't press, u need to press a few times for their working, sometimes even 5-6 times required. so, all that i was ready to endure because was impressed and atreacted by main story, and then welcome to chapter 9 when u need to run from a nigthmare, and here the bug with movin is critical, i can't pass that chapter because of bug, almost two ours of tries and no way thx bug. Then i discovered that there is dificulty changing mode, tried him to 'main story' the most easy mod but anyway the nightmare didn't chamge his speed so thx bug i can't pass further.
