Fantastisches Gameplay.

REALLY ENJOYED IT nice artstyle, simple concept: move/switch characters, push buttons, boxes, think /puzzle a bit, match timing... not really challenging but fun to me NO MUST + NO FUSS
Don't know why this game is no unpopular but I really like it. Yes, it has some cons but it's really enjoyable..
Awful controls (not rebindable), too precise platforming = pain in the.. The idea of the game is nice but the execution is very poor.. not recommended unless its like 1 usd.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKE9B1lZDpI
Time manipulation puzzle games, while nothing new, are few and far between. That's no wonder, really - it requires considerable creator skill (and playtesting) to ensure your sweet puzzles are not broken and hacked tenways by creative players, and your carefully designed brainwhacking exercise doesn't turn into an exploit-fest. Yet, there are a few great games out there - and "Replay - VHS is not dead" is certainly one of them. In a slightly inane backstory, our hero Harvey discovers a VHS rental store, run by a dazzling girl, who turns into a she-demon if someone returns the tapes in less than mint condition. Harvey gallantly (and bravely) rents four tapes, then on the way home he gets struck by lightning, when the tapes gain a strange electric glow. At home, he tries to fix the damage - that means, he's shaking the TV in despair when the movies all turn up wobbly; and eventually, the TV sucks him in, and he can fix the movies by re-acting their scenes. After all this romance and drama, we get a game where we need to complete scenes by getting our characters to predefined spots. After making moves with one character, we can rewind, and start moving another character, utilizing the actions (or simply the position) of the first character. Then we can select another character again, or go back to the first one, to advance the solution further, building it step by step. As characters can activate mechanisms and stand on top of each other, even three of them present a considerable range of actions - and of course, the bigger the range, the tougher the puzzle. Later we often play with four characters, and there are a few levels with five... As with most puzzle games, the most important aspect is the puzzle design, which is really excellent in R-VIND - there's a decent learning curve at the beginning, and then the game keeps coming up with challenging headscratchers, hardly ever letting up. Beside having to make it to the exit, most levels contain a key, which you need to recover to access the bonus levels - and recovering the key usually requires a more complicated solution path. Even just solving all the 76 levels (with keys) can easily take 10-15 hours, and then there's the additional challenge of solution time, which can add easily 15 more if you're going for gold. And this is the only point where the game makes a slight misstep - many gold times require very precise platforming, and while the controls are generally good, they aren't precise / snappy enough to live up to this kind of challenge. But then again, there are many levels where even the best platforming skills won't get you the gold time - because there the game expects you to find a better solution. And that is great. Having mentioned the controls, the other aspects of the game are good and functional - the sounds and the music are OK, and the pixel visuals are quite nice. Nothing really outstanding, but more importantly, nothing to get in the way of enjoying the puzzles. R-VIND is a superb game on its own, and considering it was created by a group of students who didn't have 10+ years of puzzle creation experience, it's quite a fantastic achievement in a very tough puzzle subgenre. Congratulations to the creators, and I'm very much looking forward to their next works!
