I found this game to be a very enjoyable sim game. It has good customisation options for the players store and has a nice pace to the game which feels challenging but not overwhelming. I noticed the Dev has been busy with regular updates and fixes since the games release which is nice to see. Overall its a nice, solid game which will keep you entertained and Im looking forward to seeing how the game develops with more updates and addtions in the future.

It's a good game but it does lack when it comes to a lot of new simulator features with other simulator games hopefully with time the game will get better it's going to take time for it to get to a point where it can hold up with other simulator games out there.

bad cheap game, bought the wrong rental store game. this one sucks

10/13 Update: I don't know what happened but the game is now insanely unoptimized. even with graphics set to low, my PC fan kicks into overdrive as soon as the game loads. the game looks like a PS1 title so idk why it requires so much effort from the PC. i can run Baldur's Gate III with less stress. do not recommend in it's current state, but: its fun, very simple and relaxing. UNFORTUNATELY... your movies randomly disappear. i own over 100 tapes in my store, but maybe 30 will show up. the rest are not rentals, they're not waiting to be cleaned, they're not in the return box or the (goofy and unexplained) storage box (where the movies will also show up for some reason). so, fun game, but it deserves a sideways thumb, not up or down. around day 9 (for me) the customers freeze and no new ones will come in, so you have to restart a new game and have the same thing happen again. developer seems to be pretty active with replies and updates, hopefully we get bug fixes before content.

Rating: ★★★★☆ (4.5/5) Nostalgic, Addicting, and Bursting with Potential! Rental Store Simulator is a delightful throwback that scratches a nostalgic itch in the best way! Managing a movie rental store, restocking shelves, and watching your little business grow feels satisfying and relaxing, especially if you remember the golden days of VHS and DVD rentals! The mechanics are impressively smooth for an indie game, and I really appreciate how active the developers are in improving the experience. That said, the progression does start to taper off after a while, which leaves me wishing for a few more features to keep the momentum going. Here are some ideas I’d love to see in the future: Character Customization: Nothing fancy...just allowing you to name your character and employees, perhaps a few basic hair styles and colour options, 3 or 4 uniform styles, and a pair of cute “coke bottle” glasses. Even simple touches like this would go a long way in helping players feel more connected to their in-game character and employees. Cleaning Up the Outside World: I don't know about anyone else, but I think it would be SUPER satisfying to be able to clean up the outside world. Remove trash, dirt, and graffiti, across the street, and maybe add things like flower pots or benches to brighten up the area around your shop. Just a little bit of environmental care could make the world feel more alive and rewarding. (including the random leaves and papers all over the ground!) Home Progression System: This would be such a cozy and motivating long-term goal! Starting in a basic, run-down apartment you can't customize, you'd have to earn enough/level up enough to upgrade to a better apartment, where you can choose from, say, 3 wall colours, 3 bed styles, 3 floor patterns, etc, as you earn enough to do so. Then, after putting in some REAL time (100 hours of game play or so), let players unlock a house you can customize both inside and out. Perfect for long-haul players! Movie Release System: This one would be a literal game-changer. Instead of instantly unlocking all the movies in a genre by level, what if you started the game by picking 3 genres, and from those, you’d get 3 randomized movies to stock? Then, every 10–12 in-game days, a new randomized movie (and it's poster/merch) becomes available to rent out/sell. This slow trickle of content would create a sense of anticipation and pacing that feels natural and keeps players engaged for the long term. More Store Décor: I’d love the ability to personalize the store more with fun touches like posters, plants, and “static” sales machines. Think refillable gumball or gacha machines that slowly earn you money over time, and boxes of posters for sale you'd have to swap out/refill. Not only would this make the shop more unique, but it’d also add some satisfying side management game play. Overall, Rental Store Simulator is already a fantastic game, especially if you enjoy retro vibes and management sims. It just needs a bit more depth to truly shine long-term. I’m super excited to see how the devs. continue to grow this cozy little world... Thank you for bringing something so unique and nostalgic to life!

If you grew up in the 80's & 90's where going to Blockbuster (or any video rental store) to snag the latest new release and some candy & popcorn was your ideal Friday night... then this game is for you! At the time of this review I'm nearly 3 hours into my gameplay and I'm absolutely loving it so far. Plus, it's only been a few days since it's release, so I know a lot more will be added as time goes on!!! With any game that's newly released, there are some bugs that I'm running into. HOWEVER.... that's why the game is in Early Access and we have the ability to report said bugs. I'm part of the game's Discord server, and Valance Games is so quick to respond to our concerns/glitch reports/etc., and they've very transparent about everything. I've never seen a developer like that before, it's great! It really feels like we (as the players) are help shaping how amazing this game can be (even though it's already loads of fun to begin with!) So excited to see the additions & road map that Rental Store Simulator has in store for us, it's going to be a great time!

the prologue was good, but the full version is full of bugs. the employees are just stable working at returns. nice concept, but in its current state it is just a prologue version. this can be bugged. but you cant release it in that state,take money and await to people to get game breaking bugs fixed. its going so far that checkouts are not working anymore when you hire employees for the checkout. please just release a game when most of the bugs are out.

i enjoy this game a lot, its priced well for the content you receive, one thing i wouldnt mind being added is paying off the loans in parts instead of having to pay them all at once (unless im silly and cant figure out how to pay it back in parts) its a simple simulator, but it brings me great joy to play

Bei dem Spiel kommen Kindheitserinnerungen hoch. Da hat man sich noch die Blockboster ausgeliehen die vor kurzem im KIno liefen. Spiele musste man ja auch ausleihen und probieren denn sowas wie Steam gab es da nicht ;) Es sind schon noch paar Fehlerchen drin aber im großen und ganzen ist es gut
