Somewhere between Visage and The Dark Occult lies Remorses. It's a gorgeous, inventive and scary horror game, but with some frustrating choices that hold it back. With a few tweaks, this would go from good to great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkdMykyXXSk
This was awesome. Reminded me a lot of Visage and Madison I tthink the negative reviews are just because the puzzles are hard and dont hold your hand at all. Just prepare yourself for a game that is more than just a walking sim, some things take awhile to figure out and it's great!

Have fun! Took about 6 hours to complete, the game doesnt hold your hand at all but isnt too difficult to figure out. Graphics are good. Would recommend!
I'm not going to lie. This game is absolutely solid. The fact that reviews are mixed absolutely baffles me. As someone who plays horror daily, and has been for the last few years, this one is absolutely stellar and a game that doesn't feel like every other walking horror sim out there. This one is challenging, makes you think, doesn't spoon feed you, and deserves SOOOOOO much more praise than is currently getting. Ignore the mixed reviews guys. This is one to play.
If you only read one line, PLEASE DON'T PASS THIS GAME UP. One of the most well thought out horror games in recent history by far! This was truly a work of passion. Had lots of parallels to Visage & MADiSON (in a fresh original way). The puzzle difficulty can be intense at some points, but if you're looking for a challenge or to spend a lot of time immersed in this world, you can get quite a lot out of it! Nothing felt cheap, and I was extremely surprised at the quality of the game overall. I also came to find that this game was made mainly by a solo developer over the last 5 years and WOW it's amazing for being the passion project of an individual. The game made the most of every opportunity within its reach and did a fantastic job at going above and beyond where it could. The world building and immersion was fantastic, and I really appreciated that this project focused on what it could do really well rather than trying to do everything just ok. Though there may be the VERY occasional moments where there isn't a setting you're looking for or a brief moment not understanding how an enemy/puzzle works, don't let that take you away from this experience. It is worth the time if you give it the time! This game was made with some serious love for someone who has a passion for horror. I was left hoping there would be DLC, and I just whish I could go back and experience this game for the first time again. If you're planning on streaming or making content, it may be handy to have a guide ready or someone to give you hints with puzzles! Again, very rewarding if you want to spend a lot of time in the game solving it yourself I really think this game deserves more love and attention than it currently has because you can feel the care that went into this project. Once you step into the world you'll wish you could go back to experience it once again. I can't wait to see what other projects are in store for the future!
I highly suggest trying this game for yourself rather than going by the reviews — a lot of the negatives make absolutely no sense. This game has an incredible atmosphere. The sounds, the voice work, and whatever is moving through that house is large and genuinely horrifying. For a solo developer's first game this is stunning work. A lot of heart and soul went into this and I respect that deeply. The price is right for the quality of work and gameplay delivered here. If you can't get it right now that's okay — grab it when you can. You won't be let down. The developer is highly active, already pushing updates post launch and addressing issues players have raised. That's a dev who cares. I'm only an hour in but I'm seeing this through to the end. The puzzles are meant to be challenging. If they were easy to figure out they wouldn't be worth solving. There's not much hand holding here — you have to pay attention to notes and environmental details to figure out where to go and what to do. Use your wits. With all that said — I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Remorses. The dev even lowered the price after launch based on feedback. That's someone who listens and acts. Support this game. 10/10 game IMO
Remorses immediately stood out to me as something different from the usual indie horror experience. Before anything else, I'd like to thank Twistedline Games for providing me with a copy of the game, and apologize for taking so long to finally sit down and play it. For a debut Steam release, this is an incredibly ambitious project. You play as Jake, a man obsessed with investigating supernatural stories, myths, and local legends. His latest lead brings him to the town of Rivervalley to investigate rumors surrounding a witch. What begins as a fairly straightforward exploration game quickly spirals into something much darker, trapping you in a nightmare where every room, puzzle, and revelation feels designed to keep you questioning what is real and what isn't. What impressed me most was the game's commitment to suspense over cheap scares. This isn't a horror game that relies on constant jump scares to keep your attention. Instead, it builds tension through atmosphere, uncertainty, and a series of increasingly unsettling situations that force you to think your way forward. The puzzles deserve special mention because they're not just filler between story moments. Some are simple enough to keep the pacing moving, while others genuinely require observation, memory, and problem-solving to overcome. Combined with a roughly six-hour runtime, the game manages to stay engaging throughout without overstaying its welcome. The sound design is also exceptional. Every footstep, rattling chain, flickering light, dripping pipe, and environmental sound contributes to an atmosphere that honestly feels closer to a larger-budget horror title than what you might expect from a first-time developer. Visually, Remorses is equally impressive. The environments are detailed, the nightmare sequences are memorable, and the overall presentation consistently supports the game's themes of fear, guilt, and consequence. While a few rough edges remain, it's encouraging to see the developers actively releasing patches and addressing community feedback so quickly. My biggest emotional reaction came from the endings. Not because they were poorly written—they weren't—but because both outcomes left me feeling genuinely disappointed for Jake and the people around him. No matter which path I took, there was a lingering sense of loss that fit the title perfectly. For a first release, Remorses is remarkably confident in its vision. At around $16, I think it's a fair price for a six-hour horror experience that prioritizes atmosphere, puzzle-solving, and psychological tension over cheap thrills. It's graphically impressive, incredibly well designed from an audio standpoint, and one of the more memorable indie horror games I've played recently. —The Ember Archives https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45601239/
I really loved the game honestly speaking. The voice acting in here were really top notch and makes me feel for the characters. The whole eerie atmoshpere in the house felt really unsettling and I had to move slowly thinking I might run into monsters (I eventually did) and made me scared to keep moving forward in the game lol. I really liked the graphics, everything was beautifully designed and the design of the monsters were really cool and interesting. Story was pretty cool too with some lore you can read around the place that pertains to the game and I loved it. I will say I suck at puzzles and it always takes me forever to figure them out but it doesn't take away how some of them are uniquely made and I really did appreciate them, overall I took a gamble playing this game despite mixed reviews and I enjoyed every minute of it and really had tons of fun https://youtu.be/44f66F4epk0
This game is actually ♥♥♥♥, wasted money.
I remember playing the demo and I was waiting for this, It's pretty fun, had some hard puzzles, a couple good scares, over-all I liked it. Looks great, plays like silk. was it worth the price ? debatable. For an Unreal 4 game it was well done P.S. "I'm NOT a paid actor" https://youtu.be/Pc3yR3doQaI
