Story is meh. Combat is mid tier to pretty annoying. Level design is ♥♥♥♥. Infinite amount of enemies swarming at all times. Worth it at 80% + sale.
Great fun with friends. Impactful combat. Cool unique weapons.
Compared to Remnant 1, Remnant 2 improves in almost every aspect. Getting this on a sale with all DLCs is a steal. However, it isn't perfect. Positives: - Main plot may be generic but plots and characters of Yaesha, Nerud and Losomn are mostly interesting, and together with the dlc, there's 3 possible stories for each world which gives you a reason to explore them again in Adventure Mode or new Campaign. - Archetype (Classes) system is much better than armor set bonuses, allowing for great build variety and freedom of fashion - Weapon variety is pretty great and encourages experimentation. - Lots of amulets and rings for build crafting and variety. - Main bosses drop different loot based on the way you kill them. - Bosses rely less on adds for difficulty. - Secrets that award bonus weapons and armors. Negatives - Main story is really generic and boring. - Scrap (aka Souls / Currency) is too scarce, making it more grindy than Remannt 1. There's an amulet that gives 50% bonus to scrap bonus but still kept running out of scrap. - Many secrets are too convoluted and obscure, requiring constant searching online or opening wiki for solutions. How is one supposed to know that a class is hidden whats basically out of bounds or require dying in a specific spot of the map? - Bosses still rely on adds to stunlock you. - Stunlock is insane. You can easily get stunlocked by basic mob chaining attacks or spamming projectiles. - Hitboxes of some attacks, especially melee ones, are questionable. - Lots of amulets/rings buff melee, but melee still can't deal with many enemies and bosses unless you use a weapon that can be thrown or send projectiles. - No Reisum (Skaven world)
Good game
It's actually kind of impressive how bad the first 2 hours of this game is, full of waiting with no substance. Super lame.
Unfortunately, I have to give Remnant II a negative review. I didn’t like the system where your entire build is based on rings and necklaces. You’ll play through practically the entire main campaign with starter armor and weapons, and the world feels like it was generated by AI… I really expected a lot more from this game. I haven’t played much in the endgame, but I have no desire to do so after finishing the campaign, and that’s a problem for me.
The Combat was Top notch everything else is average.
It's an alright multiplayer game to do while you're having a hang out, but I cannot imagine sitting down and choosing to play this game on your own (if you need friends to make a game fun, then the game itself is not very good). It's just quite generic, nothing really going for it, part of what made it fun in multiplayer is that we kept ripping into how bad the game is. Pros: -The boss battles are pretty fun -There are secret items you can get, and hidden walls -Some unique weapons and fun weapon upgrades (like adding poison or a laser) -Each area has a few possible map configurations, if you do a new save it will be a bit different -You can get a secondary class Cons: -Boring plot with boring characters -Have to do a few tutorial missions before multiplayer is unlocked -Map, character and monster designs are generic -I had to read the wiki to unlock things like a second class, as it isn't something that unlocks as you play, you have to take specific steps. -Classes locked behind dlc -I found lots of hidden items at the end of the game, the game is made assuming you'll keep replaying it on a harder difficulty, as items transfer over to new game+. I wish they had spread the items out a bit more. -Worse than the first game
