About
Remembering Emily is a short visual novel in which Thomas, the protagonist, relives his memories of Emily—memories that led him to her tragic end… although they might not be as clear as they first appear.
Throughout the different chapters of Remembering Emily, Thomas will try to piece together what really happened. Each memory represents a possible path… and each path reveals a different truth.
The player’s choices are crucial in this story, as they lead to unique situations and two completely different—but complementary—endings.

If you want to uncover what truly happened with Emily, you’ll need to reach both endings. Only then will you understand 100% of the story.
While Remembering Emily features more characters than those shown here, this is a brief overview of the key figures in this tale of mystery and emotion:

Emily. She enters Thomas’s life unexpectedly and quickly becomes someone essential to him… even after her tragic end, which ties her forever to his memories.

Noah. Throughout the story, Thomas recounts to Noah—almost like a therapy session—everything that happened with Emily. Noah plays a key role in helping him reconstruct his memories.

Kate. Thomas’s coworker and secretly in love with him. She’s one of his closest friends and always by his side… even when Emily appears.

William. Kate's brother. He met Thomas by chance while developing an indie video game.

Seth. ???

Thomas. Through his eyes, we relive the past with Emily and discover why she left such a deep mark on his life.
Join Thomas on a journey through his memories and uncover the truth behind this emotional, mysterious story.
IMPORTANT: The story touches on themes related to violence, drugs, and weapons, although these topics are not explored in depth.

A short yet captivating novel that will leave you with a twist at the end of each chapter, pushing you to find out the truth of what happens in the end.
The Story & Gameplay
There are two routes to this story, so completing both will give you the complete overview of the story. The story itself is linear however, each time you make a choice it is one of two responses. I selected all the first choices in my first run through and all the second ones in my second. The story is very well written, and each chapter leaves you hanging with a twist (thankfully this novel is not in early access)! 🌶️ Spice Level - I will say medium. There is nothing sexual but there are scenes of death, mentions of violence and a gun pointed at the mc in one part. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3544877757
Settings & Extras
Settings & extras include; display mode, language, text speed and audio controls. There are plenty of save slots available. You can turn off the hud for taking screencaps and their is a history log.
The Visuals & Audio
The artstyle is anime inspired with a cartoonish vibe. The backgrounds and sprites are hand illustrated and colored in a vibrant palette. There is no voice acting, which is fine, and the ambient sounds such as rain or the murmur of the crowd is well done. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3544877875
Overall Experience
A really good story, with each chapter ending on a twist. It is a short read but I enjoyed it. It was just long enough with an intriguing narrative and some great art, screen capture lovers will enjoy this one (and yes you can hide the hud for taking captures). It was only a couple hours for me but I am a fast reader (time may vary depending on your reading speed). 🍓 ⭐ Read Foxxelle’s official review for Otome Lovers!
Another Possibility Indicated by Fragments
A short mystery VN in which the protagonist reaches for the truth about Emily by following fragmented recollections. Each scene changes subtly depending on the choices made, presenting an “alternate interpretation” of events. The core lies in reading between the lines, discerning the gaps between what is described in therapy sessions and what is remembered. The estimated reading time is around 3–4 hours. The two endings are complementary, and only by reaching both can the full picture be assembled. The hand-drawn anime-style artwork feels familiar and inviting. Themes such as violence and drugs are touched upon only lightly. There is no voice acting, with the presentation relying solely on text. If you enjoy short mysteries that increase their “resolution” through choices, this may be worth delving into.
Check out our Steam curator , YouTube channel and X(Twitter)!
I really wanted to like this game. Each chapter ends with a bombshell revelation that deepens the mystery, but the final payoff is just plain weak. And the more I played, the more I started to hate Emily — she’s manipulative, toxic and a walking red flag.
Remembering Emily takes an unusual approach to visual novel storytelling, relating its tale by way of the memories of the protagonist Thomas, through sessions with his therapist, Noah (or so it seems).
Overview
Over the course of seven chapters, each containing one either/or choice which gifts a Steam achievement per option selected, and a conclusion which alters dependent upon the choices made prior (thereby functioning in a similar manner to the original Cinderella Phenomenon), we learn how Thomas met the enigmatic titular character, became both entranced by and wary of her; and ultimately how their relationship played out, and the impact it had upon his workmate and admirer Kate, and her brother William. Presented with options for both Spanish and English, the game looks appealing with a gentle colour palette, attractively large sprites over nicely drawn, uncluttered backdrops. There are also a few CGs along the way, albeit without a gallery to view separately.
Experience
What Remembering Emily does well, is to draw in the reader to the budding relationship between the primary characters courtesy of a finely crafted script which constantly creates elements of intrigue in the mind, only to then throw in a twist at the closure of a chapter and cast a cloud over any judgements that may have been made up to that point. By the end of the game, certainly in one of the two possible outcomes, the story performs a neat little dance around the expectations leaving the reader caught off-balance by its final revelations. Another nice little touch involves the references to real life things that many of us will recognise, with several distinguishable social media sites being used by the cast, and even a conversation involving an instantly identifiable, successful visual novel also available on Steam. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3551603348
Positives
• Well drawn, pleasing graphics. • Strong, interesting script. • Pleasant piano-based supporting soundtrack. • Options give some narrative variation and two endings. • A good, fast, history log (accessed through the menu tag “Story”). • Plenty of save slots.
Negatives
• No backstep function. (Mitigated somewhat by the good history log). • No skip function. This is a big one as second playthrough becomes very tiring on the hands having to manually tap through all of the previously seen captions. • Incomplete English translation edit: (1) a collection of relatively minor typos. (2) persistent transposition of he/him/his and she/her/hers. (3) two Spanish captions slipped through without any translation at all. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3551603163
Verdict
Unquestionably, the first read through of this story is a rewarding affair with its likeable characters, interesting relationship dynamics and regular repositioning of expectations; all told in a manner that feels fresh when compared with the standard narrative style of the overwhelming majority of visual novels. However, second playthrough does err more towards work than leisure due in large part to the absence of a skip read-text facility, creating an avoidable user-unfriendliness aspect. Achievements are awarded for each different user choice made and for reaching each of the two available conclusions, making 100% completion attainable without frustration. A complete, steady game experience should last in the region of 4 hours, though this does allow for “skipping” manually during the second pass. I have played through the game only in English, and despite some shortcomings outlined above, overall the translation quality is sufficient to ensure that everything can be understood at the first time of asking, although it would have needed only a quick onceover by a native speaker to provide the polish that is lacking in this respect. Close, but no cigar; as the saying goes. Bearing in mind that this is a first-time indie studio release and the creators have gone to the trouble of providing an English version right off the bat in addition to the Spanish original, and have also produced an original and entertaining story with pleasing graphical and audio support; there are enough good reasons to recommend the game overall, however.. there does remain a question on the price set. At a full price of £9.29, Remembering Emily invites value comparisons against its peers of a similar size, and undertaking such checks leaves it looking somewhat on the expensive side with just 4 hours gameplay and a limited store of user functions within. Whilst it is undoubtedly worth your time, it may be most prudent to keep an eye on pricing, and nip in when it is either repriced a little more moderately, or the subject of a sale discount around 30%. So I played through this in English and it's a really fantastic story! The twists and turns really kept me engaged and trying to unravel the mysteries. I think my initial reaction was "Eh, predictable" but the more I thought about it, the more I found that I really didn't see a lot of it coming. I noticed the English translation has quite a few errors in it. I tried to ignore them the best I could, but for a visual novel, immersion is so important and so many typos can take away from core moments in the game. I do recommend the game but I really hope someone looks at the English translation. However, I still really enjoyed the story and the art was nostalgic and sweet. I really liked it.
I really enjoyed this short visual novel. I liked some of the twists of the story and the different endings. My only complaint is there are some typos in the English translation and just a personal preference, I do not like noah's design.
>A Grandes Rasgos:
