I am a rhythm game addict. Give me an absurd BPM, cross-screen notes, or weird lane mechanics, and I’m happy. I usually clear the highest difficulties in almost every rhythm game I touch. So believe me when I say: the difficulty balancing in this game is an absolute trainwreck. It’s not that the game is just "hard"—it’s that it's annoying. Take the level "Counting Exercise" in Chapter 7. You cruise through two minutes of absolute filler, the game gives you a fake victory screen, and then it immediately drop-kicks you into a brutal, unpredictable difficulty spike you couldn't possibly anticipate. When you die? Enjoy playing those two minutes of mindless intro gameplay all over again just to get another shot at the part that actually matters. The game is packed with these cheap shots, and it completely saps the fun out of improving. I actually had to swallow my pride and turn on assist mode just to finish the main story because the spikes were so inherently unfun. So, why the thumbs up? Because the ending completely broke me. Learning during the credits that this game started development by a 13-year-old blew my mind. The final message gave me a massive wave of inspiration and genuinely teared me up. The level editor is great, the music is good, and the narrative has a beautiful soul. As a pure gameplay experience, it’s still a painful 4/10 for me due to the design choices. But as a piece of art and an inspirational milestone? It completely made up for the frustration. If you play it, don't be ashamed to use assist mode. The destination is entirely worth the rocky journey.
I think that the gameplay is super cool. It gets a bit difficult near the end of the story, but that's just a skill issue on my part. The entire vibe, like the music, atmosphere, the photos for the background, are just so nice. Sunset + Summer's day mixed with a melancholic vibe is epic. The story was changed a lot from the demo, which is unfortunate because the demo's story was my favourite part of the demo. I wish they kept the themes from the demo, like finding meaning in a meaningless life, rather than switching to motherhood and stuff. The story also felt a bit rushed, but maybe that's because there weren't enough songs to stretch it out, which I get. I'd much rather final story continued off from the demo story however. It just made me care about the characters and their situation a lot more. Anyways, great game! Play the demo first imo, then come for the gameplay in the full release version.
Fun little game with a pretty cool level editor as well!
It's brand new so it definitely has its hiccups, but the solo dev is working really hard implementing a bunch of community suggestions and bug fixes every day. The community is growing and there's already a large pool of custom maps to discover in the discord as well.
0/10 game wont load a custom level with a 4gb folder containing >5k frames for a background :(
i really really really hate color based mechanics. up until the very end, I had to continuously remind myself which color meant left, and which color meant right. on the upside, this did mean that the game had a decent degree of challenge for someone like me, who poorly perceives and interprets color. on the downside, i got absolutely nothing from the story that was offered. i didnt like it. i felt nothing.
