Regency Solitaire II

Another solid game from Grey Alien, but I enjoyed this one least by a fair margin out of Ancient Enemy, Shadowhand, and the first Regency Solitaire. Part of that was that after playing Shadowhand and Ancient Enemy, I missed the duel aspect of those games, which raised the excitement and provided a lot more options for RPG'ish elements around gear and consumables. The larger issue I had with RS2, though, was how annoyingly frustrating I often found playing it as a result of card layouts that seemed (very possible I'm just imagining this, but I don't think so) way more restricted way more frequently than their other games. By that I mean you start a hand, and there are something like only 2 or 3 or 4 possible cards that are face up and accessible at a time either because all the cards are overlapping each other in deep interlocking piles or you have locked cards showing that stay locked until you play a certain number of face cards or uncover a deeply buried key (in the form of flowers or a watering can) or both. And many layouts have cards stacked up in a such a way that they start that way and stay that way, never really opening up. Getting lucky and running together long combos is the funnest part of these games. That rarely happens in RS2 because of the restricted layouts. Instead you too frequently end up with no options, so you click a new card, still no options, repeat, repeat, repeat getting more annoyed, then give up and restart the hand, same thing, restart a couple more times until you finally get a good starting layout you can actually do something with, and then it's finally fun again.

Pros: - Generally speaking, it's a fun card game with a lot of levels, which will keep you entertained for several hours. - Pretty graphics & music. - Decent UI. Cons: - For those who like to challenge themselves, it's good to know that a lot of levels are basically impossible to win without making use of the power-ups, due to the low amount of face up cards being accessible. - I don't expect much from a fun regency romp, but the story here is so bland that honestly they needn't have bothered.

Another one of my favorite card games, and the stories of each characters , relaxing game

Very easy to get addicted to solitaire game. Felt this one was a tad easier than the first, which isn't bad. Thoroughly enjoyed my time with the main game and extra levels!

Loved playing this game and would recommend. I was very invested in the story of the main game. Loved the new power-ups, vines, etc, which made the game even more fun than RS1. Though I do have two art related things that bothered me. The shop background was an almost exact copy of a scene in the Emma 2020 movie (the shop Fords, where Harriet talks to the Martin sisters). And one of the other backgrounds (a study room of sorts) was almost the same as one in RS1, but was supposed to be in a different house, which I found odd. These two things downgraded the whole experience for me and made me wonder what else might be copied. Overall a lovely game though, which I really enjoyed playing.

This is very similar to the first game but I liked that and was happy to play more of the same. The plot is nonsense but good hearted.

I really love this game. It takes everything I loved about the original and improves and expands upon it. There's a longer story, additional chapters after the main story you can play, and decorating the garden as well as choosing your wardrobe is lovely. The story feels more engaging and has more suspense and intrigue, as well as romance all in a Victorian style reminiscent of Jane Austen. I also appreciate that the difficulty on this game feels toned down a smidge from the previous entry in the series. 10/10

I adore Grey Alien Games but I can't recommend this game. It's full of AI slop, undisclosed AI slop, which is against Steam's terms of service as of 2022 A big part of this company's charm is the unique art in the games and being able to support a small business. AI is killing the planet and it's not worth it for an ugly, empty room with mismatched horse shoes hanging from the ceiling.

I enjoyed the original Regency Solitaire and played through the game multiple times. The sequel has been a blast as well. It improves upon everything the original had to offer. I love Grey Alien Games! If you enjoy their other titles as much as I have then I highly recommend you check this one out!
