God
Red Eclipse is basically better Quake with better guns and level editing. Surprisingly decent bots and offline play for when servers are quiet. 10/10
Underrated as hell. This game is just so fun.

Игра легендарная, несравненно, играл ещё на Линуксе. Но обновление 2.0 как по мне убило изюминку игры, что теперь графика выглядит очень дёшево и патронов не бесконечность.
Great game. Hope to see it on GOG to play offline aswell.
I found this game through Jauwn's video on it, and I found his video pretty later than most everyone else - ah, the joys of YouTube rabbit holes, right? The game itself is fine, and the developer is to be commended for their work in organizing a community that has been around in one form or another for over a decade. Also, I noticed this on the store page: "There is absolutely no money whatsoever behind this project, and the entirety of the assets and source code are freely available to copy, modify, and redistribute. The entirety of the game is built on the contributions of volunteers, from the engine (which does not trace its heritage to any commercial studio) to the assets, levels, modes, user interfaces, and maps. We do not recieve lucrative income from selling skins or lootboxes or any microtransactions, and the servers and infrastructure is graciously run and maintained by volunteers." This sounds awfully, as the kids say these days, based. I'd say give it a shot simply because of this alone, if only to encourage other devs to do likewise. Seriously appreciated these days, real talk. However, the problem, and why I can't recommend Red Eclipse, is that it's a dead game. I mean, I don't mind playing with bots myself; I prefer it, even. But I'm not you, the prospective gamer looking for a new shooter to sink your teeth into, to indulge competitively with friends and strangers alike, and each time I booted this game up, I noticed how this game just doesn't have anyone playing on it. I fannied about for a spell or two, and I liked the gameplay (and the music too - shoutout to whoever was behind it) but that's all I feel I can give to this game right now. You will likely tire of the bots, and move on, and it's a shame. Because there's definitely something here, especially when you read the reviews of those who have put tons of hours into the game and have clearly been around it in one way or another for a long time, and so I think Tony Soprano said it best: "I'm getting the feeling that I came in at the end. The best is over."
