The game focuses on immediate action, tight controls, and constant movement rather than slow or turn-based mechanics.
Combat in Red Dust rewards accuracy, positioning, and quick decision-making. Encounters are designed to keep players engaged with frequent enemy waves and escalating threats.
Between firefights, players explore dangerous locations, uncovering new areas and challenges while pushing deeper into the hostile world.
Red Dust blends science fiction with western-inspired themes, creating a rough, unforgiving tone. The environments emphasize isolation and danger, reinforcing the feeling of being alone on a hostile frontier.

Very similar shooting mechanics to receiver and very different atmosphere and setting than receiver as well. I very much like how loading bullets is done and the feature of different types of ammo. The game needs some improvement to the text on your character when loading bullets into magazines, its a little hard to read the text due to the bloom. I also hope the dev plans to add some ambiance or music to the levels, the game feels kind of bland without something to listen to in the background. Edit: After playing a little more, I noticed the lack of footsteps when walking, would help a lot if the player can hear feedback when walking and running Edit 2: An update came out with an improved tutorial and a upgrade system. The upgrade system is very helpful when it comes to gun control and makes shooting at weakpoints easier. I think my problem with the text bloom was fixed.
No. Tediously overly complicated.
If you can overlook the creepy cat girls, this is a great sci-fi spin on Receiver. Though a little more streamlined. Shoot weakpoints, gather the red dust, loot spherical boxes for ammo, sights, system upgrades, guns. Things I really like: The flashlight. The first time I've seen a game let you focus your flashlight beam. Unfocus for wide coverage but short range etc. The wristful of ammo types and speedloader in the palm of your hand. Body upgrades that let you traverse at super speeds. If you can master the jumping with no air control. Compared to the Receiver experience: The faster pace. Less focus on ammo conservation. The much larger procgen level that actually manages to combine itself in fun ways. Things I don't like: Being forced to hug creepy cat beings. It's a handful of updates from being truly great. It's lacking QoL tweaks/It's jank. It feels like it could be balanced better. Even on easy getting hit (or tripping the tiny mines) means "losing progress", that amounts to ~5 minutes of perfectly executed encounters.
Long story short- if you are looking for more Receiver and either can't afford Receiver 2 or Receiver 2 did not suffice, this game is for you (and also if you can stomach some jank) The longer part- this game will frustrate you a little. In few places the game design is kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Main body of said ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ are the mines. Both ones placed on wall and ones that actively scuttle around, because you will not see them even tho they emit red light, said light will jabate you to approach because Red Dust (the currency) emits similar glow. You can sense them but you need to invest or find sensor upgrade- first option is pricey second option is RNG. The combination of HP and Money into one resource is quite intresting and novel, but- the mines flip it on it's head and make it infinitely infuriating, forcing a ballance of you either have a lot of health but a brisk walk is like going through a forest in Serbia or you can see everything but even a soft breeze can kill you. The other weird decision is the difficulity- mainly the fall damage. It's kinda other jank decision. Also: I don't know what's with the dev but you are going to be saving catgirls, this can be a plus a minus or a big "why dev, why?"
Feels like the kinda game I should like, but is just way too undercooked. Compared to Receiver (especially 2) the gun controls are clunky. The use button barely seems to register on things. The environments aren't that immersive, and seemingly no narrative. Also the catgirls...? The tutorial says I should get close & pat them... uhh feels creepy tbh. I'm not sure this game knows what it wants to be. I don't know what it's trying to be, I just feel confused and icked out.
Nothing like it! Very hardcore. While like Receiver in its a refreshing blend of realistic gun mechanics and dark sci-fi, it stands alone in how it plays and how it feels to be in its universe.
The game is very good i found it very fun to play even thou its pretty hard...
