Very good game, except that after obtaining 150 kills, the gamre would shut off and cant log on again

I played the heck out of this back in the nineties. It was my first game for my first PC. Brings back a lot of good memories. You can download Hells Angels Super Patch and OTE Scenery for upgraded aircraft/ground effects to make the graphics a bit more livable. A spiritual successor to this Is WOFF (Wings over Flanders Field) Which I own and is amazing also however I will play Red Baron 3d at least until I can get a decent gaming rig back up. They are pretty much the same game though WOFF has much better visuals. I also run this on Windows 11 and everything worked fine on install no joystick issues. I only had to change graphics to glide mode for full screen and golden.Great classic WW! Flight Sim!

Occasionally the game will glitch in campaign and turn off at take off but beyond that it is all the fun I remember from my childhood! Graphics are what you expect from an older game so keep that in mind. Rate 4.5 stars out of 5.

I am already having as much fun with this game as I did with the original Red Baron II 3D. Follow the tips for setting it up that are given in the forum. I am using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick and have set it according to recommendations in the forum, and I launch the game from the Logitech software only. I have the Graphics in the game set at Glide.

I played it when it originally came out. and i found it on steam and love it. although it preforms alot better than it did with my old windows 95/ pentium 2 computer back then lol

Both games are great, but Red Baron 3D completely stole my soul. The flight model feels more realistic, and once I plugged in a joystick, flying became pure joy. I’ve already spent over 3 hours with the game, and I’m enjoying it more and more with every minute. That pixelated look… oh man, it gives me nostalgia I never actually lived through, since GTA IV was already out when I was born. But still, the atmosphere is unmatched. Watching those pixels is like staring into art – I could do it for hours. Graphics were never a big deal for me, but honestly? For such an old game, it still looks beautiful. Gameplay-wise, it reminds me of War Thunder’s realistic mode – it didn’t take me long to get used to it. The planes are recognizable – Fokkers, Albatroses – maybe not perfectly modeled, but still easy to tell apart. And most importantly – there are tons of them. Around 40 aircraft, each with unique stats. No DLCs, no money grabs – everything is there from the start, just like it should be. Unlike modern games like IL-2 Sturmovik where the base game gives you just a handful of planes, this one delivers the full package up front. And that’s what I love about old games – the honesty and the heart behind them. The difficulty in Red Baron 3D is well balanced. I died a lot in the beginning, but once I got more aggressive, I started doing better. Even though IL-2 is more realistic and modern, I feel like Red Baron 3D is where I’ll stay. I’m playing on a modern rig – Windows 11– and everything runs perfectly. No need for any workarounds. The sound is really decent – wind, engine, gunfire – immersive enough for what it is. The terrain may be flat, with no forests or detail, but its rawness actually fits the WWI atmosphere. Muddy fields, trenches, no man’s land – it just works. The damage visualization surprised me too – sometimes it even looks better than in newer games like World of Warplanes. One mission bugged out where an ally kept flying in circles, but hey, stuff like that happened to me in IL-2 too, so I’m not mad. Menus? Clear and simple. And the AA guns are actually a threat, which is something modern games forget sometimes. And let me just say – the menu music is amazing. It sounds exactly like what I’d expect to hear at an airshow in 1917. It fits the time period so well. To sum it all up: Red Baron 3D is a game for connoisseurs, for those who feel the era deep in their bones – like STALKER fans do with the Zone. I know it won’t be for everyone, but for those who connect with it – it’s a total immersion. The price tag of around $9 might seem a bit much for such an old title, but in my opinion – it’s worth it. Gameplay? Porównywalny do War Thundera w trybie realistycznym – bardzo łatwo było mi się przyzwyczaić. Samoloty są rozpoznawalne – Fokkery, Albatrosy – może nie idealnie odwzorowane, ale bez problemu da się je rozpoznać. I co najważniejsze – jest ich masa. Około 40 maszyn, każda z unikalnymi parametrami. Żadnych DLC, żadnego wyciągania pieniędzy – wszystko dostępne od razu, tak jak powinno być. W przeciwieństwie do dzisiejszych gier jak IL-2 Sturmovik, gdzie w podstawce jest garstka maszyn, tutaj dostajemy pełną zawartość z miejsca. I to właśnie za to kocham stare gry – za uczciwość i za serce, które w nie włożono. Poziom trudności w Red Baron 3D jest świetnie zbalansowany. Przez pierwsze godziny często ginąłem, ale z czasem zacząłem grać agresywniej i skuteczniej. Mimo że IL-2 to nowszy i bardziej realistyczny symulator, to czuję, że zostanę przy Red Baron 3D na dłużej. Gram na stosunkowo nowym komputerze – Windows 11– i wszystko działa idealnie. Gra odpaliła się bez żadnych kombinacji i ani razu nie odmówiła posłuszeństwa. Dźwięki są bardzo dobre – słychać szum wiatru, silnik, odgłosy walki. Wystarczające i klimatyczne. A teren? Może i płaski, bez lasów i detali, ale surowy styl idealnie pasuje do klimatu wojny. No i te błotniste pola, okopy, ziemia niczyja – robią wrażenie. Wizualizacja uszkodzeń też zaskoczyła – momentami bije na głowę nowsze gry jak World of Warplanes. Jedyne, co się zbugowało, to jedna misja – sojusznik kręcił się w kółko, ale podobne rzeczy spotkały mnie też w IL-2, więc nie robię z tego afery. Menu? Przejrzyste i wystarczające. Artyleria przeciwlotnicza faktycznie stanowi zagrożenie, co dziś nie jest już takie oczywiste. I na koniec – muzyka w menu jest cudowna. Taka, jakiej spodziewałbym się na festynie lotniczym z 1917 roku. Czuć epokę. Podsumowując: Red Baron 3D to gra dla koneserów, dla tych, którzy czują klimat epoki, tak jak Stalker dla fanów Zony. Wiem, że wielu może się odbić, ale ci, którzy zostaną – zatopią się po uszy. Cena 36 zł może wydawać się trochę za wysoka, ale moim zdaniem – warto. Dostałem nie tylko porządnego klasyka, ale też grę, która przebiła moje oczekiwania. Spodziewałem się starocia, a dostałem diament z przeszłości. Ta gra zostaje ze mną na długo. I to nie tylko w bibliotece Steama, ale i w sercu.

I am from the generation that had beige DOS based PCs and started gaming while it was centralized to a CD or floppy disc but have continued gaming since there was an internet and then. I played RedBaron 3D when it was on floppies . Once i found it ported to this cloud service gaming platform for playing via Steam, I started loving it again. Simplistic in more ways than one, all pleasing if nostalgic , a great game with a flight engine that still holds up if u dont forget how old it is. Impressive array of aircraft models and data
