It's old, I'm old, still have fun with this game like its 1998... but a bigger screen.
Ehhhh. Look, its Red Baron on DOSBOX and Red Baron 3D, as far as I can tell, very little (if anything) has changed, meaning this very likely won't accept input from any stick or controller you have lying around. Trying to fly a plane with nothing but arrow keys is N O T fun in the slightest, which is a real shame, because I love this era of aviation, and wish there were more games out there that made use of these kinds of planes. I don't have a flight stick (even then I don't think it'd work for these), but I do have a few different wireless controllers, none of which work. Such a lazy Steam release of what looks like very solid original games is quite a sorry sight, and I can't recommend you spend $10 on these because of that. Other problems with these games that should've been addressed before a Steam release: Resolution is limited to 1024x768 This is not only low, but is also 4:3. The first person camera angle is practically useless in both games. 75% of the screen is covered by the cockpit and guages, making it very hard to be aware of your surroundings, not helped by the very narrow FOV allotted by the 4:3 aspect ratio. There's a third person camera as well, but you don't get the vital telemetry from the guages such as fuel and altitude. If you DO use the external cam in Red Baron 1990, however, the bottom third of the screen is just a black box. I don't know why, maybe this is some DOXBOX bug, but it makes any camera you use very annoying to work around. These are fairly well known titles, and I feel like SIERRA should've given more care into their Steam release. I feel like a release like this should give the game some general polish to better appeal to users, and make the experience feel just a tad more modern and streamlined.

Just like old times
Red Baron 3D is fun and nostalgic, so I definitely recommend it for the price. The only problem I have is that you can use all of the controls without a Number Pad. So if you have a small or medium sized laptop you will lose some of the features.
Red baron classic wont start, and red baron 3d is absolutely unplayable.
great game, very realistic for its time.
superb old flight sim, just the right balance of action and simulation. The career mode hooks me in as i chase trying to rank up to where i can then control more aspects of flight assignments and get transfers to other airfields
I played it when it originally came out. and i found it on steam and love it. although it preforms alot better than it did with my old windows 95/ pentium 2 computer back then lol
J'adore. Je n'ai pas trouvé mieux pour du combat aerien avec ce type d'avion rustique.
good
