So..., "SuperWriter", uh?! Well...if you say so...
Not at all what was originally advertised.

"Reconnecting" connects the family trope Adult Visual Novel (AVN) via a well-written plot line that's sensual, exciting, and filled with S3XY character models who are rendered--HOT, HOT, HOT!! This is definitely intended for those of us who are attracted to life's Taboo temptations!! This developer writes in such a way that if this family genre is your kink, then he has a way with making the Main Character (MC) relatable with us "every-day-Joes." These AVNs are intended for the blokes who are excited by taking a walk on life's wild side, and uninhibited by society's rigid social norms! The art with the Love Interests (LI) is very good, maybe not equal to today's market standard, but S3XY enough that the well-written plot along with the story's sensual immersion makes it an arousing experience! There may not be a TON of story here, but for the price range, and for the excitement of a sensual story extremely well told, this AVN becomes an EXCITING DANCE WITH LIFE'S FORBIDDEN FRUITS!!! For the price, this is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
.... O.O ... o .o .... 0.o the stuff men dream about is wild, yo o. o i love videogames... the fantasy is a path worth loving, just don't do anything crazy, yes, people got feelings and dreams, but this game should be way longer... so you don't dream that much, ya weird! being 24 makes everything alright, i guess, great concept & story if you dont get me by now... it could use a better UI though and a much longer story #DoubleUp (i've seen Koikaze, this isn't my first round) and also, i'm always annoyed when i cant do A-Forward with S-Voicing #A Voice to the Voiceless ..whoever dreamed this up is still weird though & thanks for the Walkthrough Option, it's awesome. 8/10 Ecchi gallons of Fun Rating, has to be... no matter the length this is a cultural thing...(i mean i guess, i dont know anything about outside people & im always alone.... awkward, awkward) if you enjoy this game... you will regret it like i do, bravo!
Wow what a good game, the story, the characters, even the graphics. For 4 bucks is totally worth it, I´m excited to play the other games from SuperWriters.
Reviewed on: 2024/06/25 Score: 7/10 Playtime: About 4 hours.
TL;DR:
Outstanding visuals, great music, plenty of lewds and animations. “Reconnecting's” (mostly) kinetic story deals with (canonically) a father and daughter reconnecting and falling in love while they're both in a committed relationship already. While infidelity is a theme in this game, this isn't the cause for much drama or sneaking around. The game's kinetic nature also lets players distance themselves from the MC's actions. Personally, in a choice-based game, I wouldn't have gone for Kelly without breaking up with Jade (Kiyoshi's fiancée) first. For much of the game, we can think away Jade and Chris (Kelly's husband), and just enjoy a romantic story. Without really diving into spoiler territory, I can't say much more, but the sections below expand on this. If the game's themes of (optional, but still heavily implied) incest and infidelity don't offend you, and you enjoy a kinetic and romantic story, then I highly recommend this game.

Gameplay:
“Reconnecting” is a kinetic AVN. While it does offer player-choices, they're conversational flavor and don't impact the ending. In this game, we play through Kiyoshi Ichikawa's story, in which he reconnects with Kelly. Players can change Kiyoshi's name, and how he's related to her.
Adult:
There are 11 lewd scenes of various intensity in this game's gallery. Most vanilla flavors are represented, like masturbation, oral, and vaginal. Three lewd scenes feature pregnancy, which might not be for everyone. Two scenes involve an MFF threesome, and are part of the same event. And, depending on your choice for Kelly, most of these can feature incest. One major theme in this game is infidelity, but its effect on the people impacted by it isn't deeply explored.
Visual:
Like SuperWriter's other games, this AVN is visually pleasing. From a customized UI, to detailed environments, great posing, attention to lighting, camera placement, even reflections… A lot of love and care has gone into this game's renders. Similarly, its characters have been selected and molded with great care for their role in the story. We'll meet people with different age, education, ethnicity, and backgrounds. The two love interests are visually distinct, and their looks compliment their personality. The developer really lets its characters shine by adjusting their posture and facial expressions to match their emotional state and atmosphere of a situation. Like the renders, the game's animations have received plenty of attention to their details. They'll show body parts moving at different intervals, making for longer and less repetitive loops. Facial expressions will change, or eyes will move. These sexual interactions also show intimacy through posture and posing, instead of the typical porn-like sex we usually get in AVN. They have multiple camera-angles and viewports as well. Some animations, in certain viewports, can be a little rough, but most of them are well done. There's some unnatural-looking movement (bodies sliding), minor clipping, and uncomfortable angles of entry.
Sound:
“Reconnecting” features 22 different music tracks. These are chosen to fit the scene, and are balanced well. They're remarkable in how unremarkable they are. As in, they never broke my immersion or distracted me from the visual experience.
Novel:
After starting the game, setting our name and configuring our relationship to Kelly, we meet Jade. Jade, Kiyoshi's fiancée, is meeting with a wedding planner about a wedding location. Kiyoshi arrives late because of traffic, adding stress to Jade's already stressful day. She lashes out, but the situation is defused when Jacob, Jade's son from a previous relationship, enters the room. Smart writing shows how much Kiyoshi cares for Jacob, and how much Jade appreciates him for it. It also leads them to talk about Kelly, Kiyoshi's estranged (canonically) daughter. When Kiyoshi decides to reach out to Kelly, the game's main story starts. Spoilers below! “Reconnecting” tells the story of how Kelly and Kiyoshi fall for each other. Kiyoshi is initially attracted to Kelly physically, and Kelly is attracted to Kiyoshi as a strong, stable, and good man. Having lost her adoptive father, and her husband acting unreliable at times, she's drawn to Kiyoshi as the only man she can really trust and lean on. After going out and having a few drinks, Kelly comes on to him, and they both let passion take over. Soon after, Kelly discovers she's pregnant, with it being next to impossible that Chris (her husband) could be the father. The following chapters explore the relationship of Kelly and Kiyoshi. They frame their love for each other as a father/daughter bond that transcends other relationships, making the sexual aspect an optional extension of it. The story shows us how they navigate their infidelity and grow accustomed to seeing each-other with their respective partner. It's very subtle, woven in between events, how Kelly is happy for Kiyoshi and Jade, and how Kiyoshi doesn't even think to come between Chris and Kelly. What happens to Chris, is what I like least about this story. The writer tries to make Chris unlikeable in ways, like showing him being dumb or acting immature. This is done to make the audience root for Kiyoshi and Kelly. But, if you think things through, it really paints Kelly in a bad light. Not only is she cheating on Chris, she's letting him raise the children she has with another man. She'll never love him like she loves Kiyoshi, and instead of granting him freedom by telling the truth and divorcing him, she's enjoying all the luxury his hard work provides for. Meanwhile, Kiyoshi, Kelly and Jade, all get their happy ending.
Conclusion:
Where I'd avoid cheating in choice-based games, the narrative and framing in “Reconnecting” made it feel natural. Despite infidelity being a main theme, there's very little drama or sneaking around going on. And, if you don't think too hard about Chris' future by the end of the game, it provides a happy ending. In short, if you don't mind a kinetic AVN, and like a good romantic story, I highly recommend this title.

Socials Interested in discussing AVN?
A thumbs up, but with a few caveats. -You really need to respect the content warnings. While you can set the MC's name and what kind of relationship he has with Kelly, the tags speak for themselves - if you're not a fan of this kind of content, you pretty much have nowhere to run. But for the fans, this game is a feast. -The game is on the shorter side, it took me a little over 3 hours to finish, could be longer when exploring alternate scenes and going for a different ending, but that can hardly take more than an hour if you skip straight to the choice points and read the new text. Also, the game does big time jumps between scenes, entire months pass with just a sentence or two to summarize them 'until you meet again' - it's the type of game that jumps to the action, with all the juicy bits, so you don't have to wait and get bored. I appreciated that, but at the same time I believe some more scenes from the characters' life would've been welcome (like, we never get to see the children on screen, yet are told that MC spends time with them and has a good relationship... Kelly aside, obviously). -You get a handful of choices throughout the game, but their consequences are mostly immediate, making the current scene play out differently. In the long term, you are guaranteed to hit the same story beats: the MC and Kelly will have an affair, cheating on their respective partners; Kelly will get pregnant and eventually give birth; they will make a risky recording that gets discovered by MC's partner, who confronts them shortly before the wedding... you will just have to deal with the fallout of all that. It's played for drama, and honestly, if there was a choice that let you radically change the story, it would have to lead to an abrupt bad end as MC and Kelly have to end their relationship. So, I respect the author for writing it this way, and while I would've liked a bit more variety (MC's partner Jade is shown in a much more positive light than Kelly's partner Chris, who seems very gullible despite being very successful at work, and not caring much about Kelly's feelings at all, even when his wife is pregnant) I still enjoyed the story in this form. With those out of the way, what I consider the game's strengths are: -Its detailed animations. The ladies are beautiful, the MC is handsome, and their juicy bits shown in close ups are tantalizing. -The gallery section lets you replay any of the sex scenes you've unlocked, so you can return to them at any time. There's even a helpful message that signals whenever you've unlocked a new scene, so if you're hunting for all of them, you know when you've found one. -The MC isn't a jerk, which is a breath of fresh air. The fact the story portrays how he cares and loves both Kelly and Jade gives weight to his struggle to balance both of these relationships. He's not stupid, and while he does take some risks when his lower brain takes over, the fact he can take responsibility for his actions (like when visiting the fertility doctor with Kelly, taking Kelly to the hospital when she goes into labour, and especially when confonted by Jade) builds him up. And that's before considering his sweet talk, which is a character trait I especially enjoy. -Kelly isn't naive or simply seduced by MC, she has her own mind and takes the initiative plenty of times. The humorous exchanges between Kelly and MC show how well they understand each other, and the fact she feels unsatisfied with Chris and admires MC's relationship with Jade (and her son, Jacob) and supports them gives more weight to her struggle to continue their affair, too. The fact she helps organize MC's and Jade's wedding and at the end even visits MC's hometown are good examples of 'show, don't tell' for how much she cares, rather than getting swept up in pure pleasure (although there's a good deal of that too). -Jade isn't stupid or innocent herself (that's more than I can say about Chris, but oh well). The way she handles the situation from encouraging MC to reach out to Kelly and feeling guilty about her own jealousy, and how she reacts upon finding undeniable proof of their affair, are seriously impressive. I know there is some wish fullfillment in leading the story that way, but I can honestly say that if more people were as open-minded and patient as Jade, we would see a lot more happy endings in our world (you could argue that not all relationships deserve a happy ending, but with people like these, where nobody is a selfish jerk or a vengeful ♥♥♥♥♥, I do think a happy ending is fitting). And so, I recommend the game. Probably on sale (I bought it at 50% off, as part of a bundle with Picture Perfect, Secret Summer and Sun Breed, the other games by this author) but if you have a few hours of time, and you're into these themes, you could do much worse than giving Reconnecting a chance.
