About

Reclaim! Azhe-giiwewining invites you on a journey into the heart of Ojibwe culture, language, and tradition. Immerse yourself in a world where language is the key to coming home.
But this is no ordinary world. It’s a living forest filled with intricate puzzles, colorful citizens, and stories inspired by Anishinaabe tales and traditions.

Meet Miskwaa, an Ojibwe girl from the city! After falling asleep in the woods, she finds herself lost in a forest full of helpful animals and spirits. To reunite with her grandmother, she'll need to brush up on her Ojibwemowin and examine what it means to be traditional in a modern world.
Engaging Point-and-Click Gameplay: Explore beautifully rendered scenes, find hidden clues, and solve satisfying puzzles. You'll need wit and curiosity to help Miskwaa navigate this world and reunite with her family.
It’s more than an adventure! Reclaim! is part of a growing movement to revitalize the Ojibwe language. Fully voice-acted in Ojibwe by elders and immersion school graduates and teachers, experience the beauty of Ojibwe language, customs, and oral tradition as you journey deeper into the woods and help Miskwaa reclaim her identity.
Reclaim! was built through community-based design workshops with the Lac Courte Oreilles band of Ojibwe by a core team of indigenous creatives, including art leads (Renee Nejo - Helskate, Josh Herron - Bob's Burgers) from Coahuiltecan and Kumeyaay Nations, with Lakota and Ojibwe Elders serving as game advisors.
Reclaim! is focused on reframing education and interrupting the colonial narrative by being the first game completely playable in the indigenous language, Ojibwemowin. Our mission: demonstrate the depth of knowledge within indigenous languages and to prove these languages are vibrant and strong!

While everyone has been waiting for their respective triple A games to release, this is the game I've been waiting years for and I'm extremely impressed with this game. Not only is it a game in Ojibwe language/anishinaabemowin, but an interactive immersive point and click that touches on so many subjects I hold close to my values as an Ojibwe woman. For those that are not Ojibwe/Indigenous, it's informative and shifts into a nature paradigm so many may not be used to. It uplifts all of its teachings into a fun and worthwhile experience of trying to find your way back home while learning that home and relatives are everywhere. I will be aggressively telling everyone to buy this amazing game. Onizhishin gakina awiya gaye nawaj ambegish ozhitooyeg
Reclaim! Azhe-giiwewining is a short & fun point and click indigenous adventure game where you play as a little girl called miskwaa who got lost in the forest while picking some berry in the forest. Luckily the spirits among the forest help to guide find her way back. The gameplay consists of puzzle that blend with Ojibwe culture and all the dialogue have Ojibwe language that make this game feel unique. However, some movement control need a bit of fix Gameplay: Good Graphics: Good Music: Good Story: Good PC Requirements: Normal Game Time: 2-3 Hours
The game is beautifully done and really gives you an insight into the culture and language of Ojibwe. The game is reminiscent of old style point and click games like Broken Sword and Monkey Island. The game is playable in Anishinaabemowin with English subtitles. It has some funny references to current cultural slang incorporated into it. Overall I loved the game and the artstyle. It also gave me a better insight into Ojibwe. We need more games overall like this! Disclaimer: I was a pre release player and got this as a review copy.
Amazing game!! Love the incorporation of Ojibwemowin and the creative, culturally relevant tale! Great that kids can have a fun immersive way to learn Ojibwemowin. I'm so thankful for this project!
This was a very unique and fun game. I've never played a point and click, but this game was recommended to me by a voice actor in the game. I was pleasantly surprised with the graphic design and the 3D snake and I can see how this will be a good tool in teaching the next generations about the Ojibwe language and culture.
I absolutely adore this game. Not only is it clearly such a loving creation that came from the hands of many people, but it both preserves the Ojibwe language and way of relating to the world in such a caring way. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys visual novels, as it's a beautiful, charming and moving work of art! The voice acting, art, music, game design, everything from tip to tail is wonderful. Thank you to the creators for so lovingly sharing this part of yourselves with us!
Very sweet game ! I would recommend for a nice and chill evening. Pros : - Nice way of making some steps into Ojibwe culture - Nice art, beautiful colors and nice music - Easy and smooth - All in Ojibwe language with translation - Short (done in 3h30 and I was live streaming and chatting so probably around 2h-2h30 top) Comments (remember this is an indie game, so it's normal) : - Some words sometimes are fully in Ojibwe and I would have loved a form of translation or explanation if it could not be translated so I could learn those words for what they are - Objects on the down right sometimes block clicking to move to the far right - Few glitches (like very few and nothing that ruins the game) I loved it !
I read about this game in an MPR News article and thought it sounded really interesting, and it did not disappoint! I thought it was super charming and I could really feel the heart that went into making it. This felt like a perfect chance to get a little extra glimpse into Ojibwe culture, on top of giving me nostalgia for some of the old point and click games I used to play as a kid in the 90s. Overall, a great way to spend a few hours of my evening.
Beautiful, engaging and fun puzzles! Love learning about the Ojibwe culture, any puzzle/point and click fans will enjoy this. :)
Reclaim! is an adorable game that is a great example of what language revitalization can look like. Ojibwemowin is seldom seen or heard in digital spaces, much less in video games, this makes Reclaim! an important entry into gaming world as it is an accurate and culturally grounded Anishinaabe video game that is one of the first of its kind. Overall the game is a fun play that holds many surprises. The comforting and playful dialogue keeps you engaged as you go deeper into the forest. Part of what kept me engaged even during the problem solving sections was the beautiful artwork that made me keep clicking to find out what else the game had in store. What cemented my love for this game was the whole story line and my connection with Miskwaa, who was charming a successful at not being a frustrating protagonist, which is especially gratifying in a point and click adventure.
