"Realms Road" is one of the many low effort projects made with an easy-to-use construction kit. It relies on canned assets and cringe high school fan fiction. This was a long time in coming, and inevitable... finally, RPG Maker asset flips, with complete, garbage high school anime club dropout fan-fiction writing, are integrating with disgusting AI slop. The "developer" of this garbage RPG Maker asset flip included a very basic story about "choosing heroes and having fights", which just means it's combat heavy, and bad combat... just basic Final Fantasy JRPG ripoff stuff with flipped assets. But on top of that, the high detail character art, instead of being done with an anime character generator like most RPG Maker asset flippers use, is AI slop. This is WORSE. Like other RPG Maker "games", the game engine is extremely low quality. It displays badly in fullscreen, and has no real graphics settings or HD support. It's not up to the same standard we expect from a modern PC game. We can make the argument that construction kit toys like RPG Maker are intended for making small games and demos and things to pass around with friends. They shouldn't be used as a substitute or "Ez-mode" to allow unqualified amateurs to LARP that they're real, actual game developers. This is just more RPG Maker pixelcrap. The crap graphics are met with even worse gameplay, in no small part to RPG Maker itself being crap, and when combining that with talentless, unqualified developers using a childrens toy to pretend to be real game developers with these fan-fictions, gamers suffer. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 130 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB shows this peaked at [b]only 2 concurrent players[/b]... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Since free games don't contribute to your game collector badge and other profile stuff, is this a worthwhile addition to your Steam library? Nope. There's no up front cost here, but I still feel like I got ripped off, and I didn't even spend any money. That's how bad this is. The use of AI slop is a direct insult to gamers and real, ethical content creators and artists everywhere. AI models are trained on copyrighted intellectual property without permission from the owners. Using AI slop in a published product should be seen as supporting these copyright violations.
