About

"Beyond the great plains and mountains, deep inside the forbidden lands, lies a dormant kingdom, untouched in centuries. Those who enter the vast ranges of its terrible curse, will forever drift along its unknowable, shifting paths. Running from horrible creatures, hiding in crumbling ruins, watching for lights on the mountain during starry nights."
After months of travel across windswept plains, mossy forests, and barren mountains the ancient city appears far on the horizon, its broken towers rising from the haze. On a steep pass you see the cursed land below, its features moving and winding like giant snakes beneath the fog. The fisherman told tales of those who vanished in the Barrier and of the horrible visions it gave. At dawn you set out across a placid lake, in search for the hidden entrance to the Barrier.

"That narrow, broken path through the trees there. Snakes all the way deep into the kingdom." The old man looks at you. "Rubble and curses are all that's left there. Some other went there long ago. Looked just like you. Best you find something else." He grows silent, his eyes fixed beyond the trees.

Excellent game with a lot of promise. It somewhat brings to mind Door in the Woods — to me, a masterpiece of open-world survival traditional roguelikes. But here, rather than trying to survive a pseudo-Lovecraftian apocalypse in a clean-cut American town surrounded by miles of forest, you’re exploring a thick exotic jungle à la Indiana Jones, trying to find your way amid ancient ruins, abandoned dwellings, and lost treasures while sorting out all kinds of nasty creatures intent on turning you into fertilizer for the lush surrounding vegetation. Reading the map may feel a bit confusing, especially at the beginning, but this only adds to the superb immersiveness and atmosphere of the game, considering that you are lost in a vast jungle. If the idea of an ASCII-based traditional roguelike that feels different, takes risks, and is approached with a modern sensibility appeals to you, don’t hesitate to try this one. The ASCII parallax effect is killer!
Very interesting game, i know its in early access but i kinda hope this game to keep active and receive more updates and more content. I hate the snakes

This is a gorgeous game. I managed to barely scratch the surface during my first time playing but it looks like something I'll be playing over and over again. It also looks stunning!
Was excited to see this one. I love the minimalist yet immersive design.
Great potential, hope the updates keep coming. Takes a couple of minutes to get used to the presentation, but once you get going its hard to stop.
I play roguelikes alot, even the unfair ones. This is not that, you can get unlucky, but I haven't had a run end where I thought it was unfair. As long as you stick and move you can defeat most enemies, so picking your battleground is the most important aspect of the gameplay. I love the lack of explanation, you're an adventurer in a mysterious land, the aesthetics play into this as it's not immediately understandable, you have to learn how to read the world you are in, forcing you to invest all of your attention into the game. It has honestly made me change my mind about ASCI graphics, it's like a good book and a good videogame had a baby and it is solid with immersion. The dev also develops this game in full view on Youtube, given it's in early access, this is a title I was quickly invested in watching grow.
First day and already 6 hours, one of the best games since a while. Great work Max!
A brilliantly immersive game with fantastic graphical style and sound. Very addictive with just that "one more go" feeling. Game is very playable on controller. The game seems to often get updates too,, and the dev is very active on YT,Reddit also which is awesome.
Increíble juego, sobre todo por lo minimalista y profundo que llega a ser. Totalmente recomendado. Se siente un juego diferente a muchos otros!
Foundational gameplay is good so far, the world is intriguing and there are tangible rewards for exploring it the deeper you go. Excited to see where this goes!
