Railbreak is a bast, great homage to old light gun games, but is different enough to be its own thing. Great replayability.
A fantastic one-man-developed light-gun shooter that's an amazing homage, or "clone", of the House of The Dead series. It's set in the Outbreak universe, a series of Resident Evil clone games (And even a Dino Crisis clone game!). It has all the big staples of House Of The Dead, full limb and head damage decapitations, choices of red or green blood (And a lot of other colors too!), saving civilians from zombies, and EXTREMELY bad voice acting and dialogue. It's short and sweet, as light gun games are intended to be, although it takes a tiny bit longer than a typical light gun games campaign length, and it has extra modes to add to longevity. It's a lot of fun blasting zombies to pieces. I would honestly argue that this is the best game Dead Drop Studios has ever made. It's jank for sure, but it feels a lot less jank than his previous games, it's got nice lighting, colors, and models, probably due to running on Unreal Engine 5 instead of unity, so while it's not a huge looker, it looks a million times better than his previous games. I did encounter a few bugs that were not a huge problem, and you can't blast the sound on the game because the voice acting recordings are both really low sound quality and extremely loud, but overall from a technical standpoint its solid. The developer also said soon a patch will be made to allow players to cache all shaders on the main menu instead of as you play to increase performance, which I'm highly thankful for. If I had any complaints on the gameplay side, it would only be that the running paths for saving civilians are an annoyance, as they will often run out of a zombie horde and then turn around and run back into the horde, which can easily cause a civilians death when your shooting at the horde to save that moron. As a big light gun fan, this is definitely one of the better ones on steam, and thankfully it's a finished game, not an early access title, as a few light-gun games on steam started in early access and were then abandoned, this is not one of them. I can definitely recommend buying this at it's full price. There just isn't that many light gun games on steam and this is definitely one of the better ones on this platform. Is it AAA or even AA worthy? or super high quality and super polished? Of course not. But it's insanely fun and it's a great game and the fact it was only made by one man makes it even more impressive. Behold... RAILBREAK!
Gameplay Impressions: https://youtu.be/kzqq_2t9CrE I found this to be a very fun rail shooter. It took some gettin' used to when it came to not goin'/lookin' where I'd want to. Havent played many games in this genre. I liked the somewhat cheesy/tongue in cheek dialogue.I playthrough the story up to act 4 I believe. I think a bug occurred durin' this act at the end of linked video. The character wouldnt move anywhere. So I was stuck. Besides that issue the game was solid. 20 bucks may be a bit steep but it does give ya a biut to work with int he foorm of unlockin' characters and playin' other modes.

This game is by far the BEST rail shooter style game on Steam, and I have had a blast playing it. It pairs so nicely with the Sinden USB Lightgun, but can easily be played with a mouse and keyboard. The story mode on this game is challenging, intense, and funny with the most hilarious lines of comedy during game play. In short, this game is a must have for lightgun game players period. Although I received this game through a code to test for bugs for the developers, this is not a paid review. I would gladly have paid for this game myself and this in no way affected how I reviewed the game.
Simple arcade light gun style shooter. Fun to just jump in and shoot stuff. has some interesting mechanics, multiple characters, several modes. The one thing I will note, is it doesn't seem to support PS5 controller well. The fre button wouldn't work for me until I remapped it in the steam controller to have the shoulder buttons be the mouse buttons, but worked fine after that.
Played with a Blamcon light gun: 8/10 Engaging campaign, well realized environments, and lots of alternate game modes. This is a really good game. I would rate it higher but it's a big 'jerky'? at times. If you play it you'll see what I mean. That being said I think this is a great on-rails light gun game with a lot to offer.
It's really not that good. I'm a sucker for rail shooter games, but this is just not it. I played two levels and was done with it. The animations aren't good, the game feels janky and buggy, and even with a bunch of stuff happening on screen, it's boring. I'd have gotten a refund if I hadn't gotten this in a bundle. Save your money for one of the many other rail shooters that are actually fun.
