I'm a huge fan of classic Arcade Shoot'em up type of Games. With my current PC setup, I'm able to run most games at max settings without any drop in performance. This game performs perfectly with everything running at MAX, and it also accepts the latest in NVIDIA DLSS technology. If you're a fan of classic arcade shoot'em up games like "Operation: Wolf" (see videos of that on YouTube), you're going to be a fan of this. If you're a fan of say Valve's "Left 4 Dead" Series, you'll love this. I hope the Developers behind this game continue to work on future enhancements, or DLC's for this Game. Conclusion: Graphics: 8 out of 10 Sound FX: 9 out of 10 Fun Factor: 10 out of 10
Amazing and original - great light gun support. Cheers FB Light Gun Lunatics
Update 12/28/23: Post Patch thoughts: Tips: Use the Shader Pre-Compile option in the menus! Tweak Increase wait time for pickup option You can change and disable screen effects if they are too distracting Use the Screen Percentage Option to tweak rendering resolution which is needed for DLSS and TRS (built-in UE5 upscale) Pros: Sinden Lightgun Support Very fun, addictive, and high replayability Nice graphics Decent Enemy Variety Lots of Game modes Decent attempt at adding Rogue-lite elements to Rail Shooter Genre (especially Glitch Gauntlet) Decent Performance (Please use DLSS (Screen Percentage) and Shader Pre-compile options!) Lots of Options to tweak Best Game Dead Drop Studios has ever made (They listened to fan feedback and constructive criticism) Funky Music Mixed: Some players may not like the chaotic pace Tons of randomization for a Rail Shooter which may be challenging for those used to strict Rote Memorization Cons: Pacing in later Acts 5&6 (Those Acts should have been split in half. Recommend 10-minute length for levels) Wanting more Dialog for the ending Slight frame rate dips during explosions Future Desires: More Levels and more story More voice acting Some Cinematics (can be still pictures with narration) Old Review: I am proud of how far Drop Dead Studios has come since 2017. They have finally upgraded to Unreal Engine 5 and addressed a lot of the constructive criticism towards their previous titles. This is their first rail shooter in the newly rebooted Outbreak Universe. This is a very unique rail shooter because it has roguelike elements. It is addictive as well. The randomization is a nice change to the rail shooter genre since it is traditionally strictly choreographed. However, this can be a double-edged sword for some players who are used to rote memorization. However, I have embraced the chaos because it tries something new that sets it apart. It has Sinden Lightgun support as well. An issue that I had was the performance at spots especially after Act 3 if you crank up the settings, but that is somewhat self-inflicted since I cranked up the settings to max. I needed my Lumen Hardware Raytracing and I paid for it since it uses cutting-edge Unreal Engine 5.3. I will be playing this for months to come to beat my score and do much harder difficulties.
Ready, aim, shoot zombies. Reload. Shoot more zombies. And for the love of God try to avoid shooting the civilians. They'll do their best to step in front of a moving bullet though. Truly the best game this studio has put together.
This modern take on the Rail Shooter genre has a lot going for it. Great graphics, enemy hit reactions, zany dialogue, multiple game modes, and so much more. Much fun is to be had if you are a fan of rail shooters!!
Man, I really wanted to like this game, and after reading only positive reviews I was quickly sold, but after playing for just a few minutes I realise I really don't like it. The problems for me are: - The visuals are very noisy, and since the enemies tend to clump together it's hard to see what's dead and not. - I also really don't like how the monsters just slide left and right to get around objects with no visual indication (aka turning animation or sideways facing sprite) and it felt unfair when I missed shots because they were slipping and sliding around my screen. lol. - Next up, random enemies will start to get a white outline, which means they are attacking. This isn't relative to their position in the crowd or distance from you it seems, and it made the bites/damage seem more unfair than badly played. - Finally, the audio is tough, since it's fun and noisy like the old arcade systems (which is great), but all of the audio levels seem mismatched and some voices are barely audible while other random noises are loud as heck - just all-round seems like it needed more work/mastering. If these issues don't seem too bad, then give this game a good try, but I unfortunately didn't enjoy it. Hope the feedback helps these or other devs, as I would really love to see more on rail shooters. :)
This is a really fun love letter to classic on rails shooters like House of the Dead. Within the fiction of the game, you're playing as a person in a zombie apocalypse playing an old arcade cabinet, so the game within the game teeters on the edge of breaking down as the story progresses. This allows for a cool glitch-core aesthetic that normally is restricted to 80s retrofuture or vaporwave art. You can get through the main story in a couple hours, but it's really set-up to where you'll want to go back and try it again to play parts better and get a higher score.
Best game from Dead Drop Studios yet! So much fun. Lots of replay-ability! Environments, music, and enemies are great. Cannot recommend this game enough!
Recommended to fans of on-rails shooters. This is classic zombie shooting action with cheesy dialogue and funky music. There is a decent amount of content and gameplay modes to keep you entertained for a few hours.
let's be real, this is not a "good" game i understand the devs really want it to be, and i'm sorry that negative reviews will hurt indie devs but i had a BAD time with this one edit: _specifically_ the sound is mixed poorly, the dialog was (unfortunately) badly recorded, the game chugs, maps just spit out the same 5 zombie models every 3 steps, its very repetitive and many of the hits do not register properly. and did i mention that the poorly-recorded, poorly-mixed repetitive voicelines play OFTEN i am not bagging on the voice acting for being non-professional, which is all fine and can be charming, but rather that many of the lines were technically recorded incorrectly by people standing too physically close to their microphones, resulting in many lines with audio that clips badly. but then you ALSO play them way too loud, decibel-wise in the game mix too
