there's no dedicated downdash button on keyboard and trying to natural downdash within 2 tiles of a wall doesn't work so the game kind of unfairly favors controller players in that department but aside from that this was a really fun cute game. would recommend.

if you want to relive the spectrum days with fast paced platforming challenge then this is for you it caters to everyone if you want to play, challenge or speedrun the game (atm 3-8 is being my bane) the visuals really represent home computer scene in the uk in the 80's and is a good homage to the era plus the music is spot on as well with the theme the only negative and its a minor one is i wish there was a button config to remap buttons (i was using a mega drive 6 button usb pad) but thats not a end all though and takes time to get used to what the game maps the buttons too over all for the price its a bargain and even represents how much games used to be for the zx spectrum back in the day the speed grinders will get more millage out this for speedrunning but for casuals you will enjoy this as well

Quickly, Quackley is an indie retro precision platformer. It's graphics are reminiscent of ancient games on home computer systems of the 1980s such as the Atari 2600, Commodore 64, and (the developer's personal inspiration) the ZX Spectrum system. You'll run, jump, and dash your way through multiple levels with a 13 second time limit! I bought this due to following the developer's and publisher's YouTube channels, and wanting to support an independent project. [b]PROS[/b] + Though its graphics are very retro, the movement is very fluid. All deaths felt like they were my fault. + The difficulty curve is excellent. Core concepts are expertly introduced and built upon throughout the game. + The soundtrack is great, and fitting with the ZX Spectrum theme. [b]CONS[/b] - As expected with a game with levels with a 13 second time limit, the game is SHORT. I beat the main game in a single sitting in a little over 90 minutes. [b]NITPICKS & YMMV[/b] ~ Speedrun and Time Trial Modes are accessible after game completion, allowing you to practice and add some replay value. - Quite a few levels have the character running off screen to the right, and appearing to the left (or top and bottom!). I personally don't like this mechanic, though I understand that it's the dev's prerogative. I'd recommend this if you are looking for a short, sweet platformer that is all meat and no filler. Especially if you have a 1980s retro gaming itch to be scratched.

Quick Description: -Quickly, Quackley is a minimalistic precision platformer w/ a really unique visual style and tons of good humor. This game is great and is one that I can easily recommend to all speedrunning fans. What's Good: -Really cool aesthetic w/ lots of bright colors, clean lines, and feels like a throwback platformer in all the right ways. -Really responsive, fluid, controls that make movement and jumping feel so good. The learning curve is slightly steeper than the average game, but the skill ceiling is also quite high. -Lots of charm in this game! There are tons of cute, cartoon cut scenes. There is also quite a bit of humor in this game, which I think is great. -$5 is a steal for a game of this quality. It isn't the longest game, but it's very unique in both it's visual style and also how movement works. This ensures that even if you have played every platfomer out there, you are likely to feel like you have played a unique and innovative speedrunning experience. Could Use Some Changes: -I really only have two complaints and they are small ones. The first is that there are only 48 levels and most levels only take between 15 seconds to 60 seconds. I would love to see a DLC or a sequel in the future. -My only other gripe is that the movement feels a bit odd AT FIRST. Keep in mind, that after about an hr, movement feels awesome imo. However, I struggled initially, so others may find the early moments slightly frustrating. Consensus: -Solid Game (Tier 3 and makes up 35% of my reviews). This game is awesome and is an easy game to recommend to precision platfomer fanatics. This dev is releasing NekoNecro next month and I can't wait! He's been working on it for over 4 years and it looks incredible. It's a hand drawn platformer that fans of this game will likely really love. In the mean time, if you are itching for a fun, creative, and challenging speedrunner, Quickly, Quackley is just the game for you!
