Quern - Undying Thoughts

"An exploration-based 3D point-and-click game mixed with escape room puzzles. The difficulty ranges from hard to very hard. If you love Myst, this game is made for you. However, if you have trouble with map orientation like I do, you might struggle a bit just trying to find a location you saw 10 minutes ago to go back and solve a puzzle. I spent 15 hours finishing the game (and half of that time was spent getting lost on the island, haha). This is not a puzzle game for beginners. However, if you are a hardcore puzzle gamer, go for it!"

Really great game with good puzzles and atmosphere. Of the best of these types of games, really enjoyed it and satisfying to solve them without help.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Fun puzzles, very Myst like, didn't take too long to complete it. Nice game.

I've passed this game several years ago, and I always find myself thinking about this game even several years later so I'm going to leave a review...several years later. I've been wanting another puzzle game that challenges my intelligence in a respectful and fun way in a similar manner that the Myst games do, and Quern was definitely one of those experiences but executed better than Myst if I'm honest. Myst has a lot of intricate mechanics for its puzzles, Quern has that also but on steroids. I can't say too much about what makes the puzzles challenging, but I can say that Quern is one of the most difficult puzzle games I've ever played that no other puzzle game has matched or beaten so far....and it does not disrespect your intelligence. I will say that there is one "puzzle" that is technically not a puzzle but more of an annoyance and is difficult for other reasons and that is the only bad in this game. On another note: This game is from 2016 and uses Unity. If you have a decent computer for this game and still find it lagging, 2016 Unity was not really meant for "pretty graphics" so I recommend not going too much on the screen scale slider, and play with the "-window-mode exclusive" command line argument.
