Quar: Battle for Gate 18 is a turn-based strategic VR game set in the grimsical world of Alwyd. The Quar are cute alien ant-eaters. Don't mistake cute for gentle. They use their WW1 level technology to wage war across the face of their world.

Real time strategy game in VR from 2016, seems not outdated and runs perfectly in 2023. I liked the welcoming area, a military base where all the cute soldiers prepare for the battle and rest. It was funny to teleport towards each groups's side real size and watch their activities. But, I found its turn based style boring. I wish the gameplay should have been like 'Final Assault VR'.
This is a great game. If you like turn-based strategy and virtual reality, this one is for you. Great value and lots of fun. A few small bugs here and there but overall a polished and professional experience! I can't wait to see more games like this. I never spent much time checking out the world in the small, character-sized zoom level because it wasn't really useful, cool though it may be. Sometimes the airplanes messed with me by flying through my head, did not like that at all, hah. Also the unit logic was a bit off sometimes, like how you use a shotgun or a sniper rifle to kill tanks instead of some kind of rocket launcher, but once you get used to it, it's no problem. Haven't played through the whole game yet but I'm around 10 levels in and still having lots of fun. Easily worth what it costs.
Classical turn-based strategy game on a hex board. Select from a set of forces, place them, fight (different goals), collect vicotry points and upgrade. Positive: + graphics + overall gameplay + plot/universe + works well in VR Negative: - controls to move your position are not the best
Amazing game. Its super simple yet a lot of fun. The letters hit me in the feels.
July 24th Update. Yeah the game is dead :( This is a great game but the last update was in 2016.... I guess that there will be no more development of this game? If so that sucks as its a brilliant game. There needs to be more RTS/Turn based games in VR.
Schwere Entscheidung. Mittlerweile im Jahr 2019 gibt es besser Titel. Vor allem der Preis von 20$ hat mich dazu veranlasst den Daumen runter zu geben. Für mich ist es 10$ wert. Hogs Of War 2016
It suffers a bit from Old VR game things... like having ZERO settings for changing controls or comfort, just audio and graphics. So you wont be getting any fancy move with the joystick, or what not... Just old fashioned Point and teleport. Although, with all the comfort features in this game, I actually found that this was the first VR game to make me motion sick (this was from staring up at the planes in the air, and trying to track them with my head, then another time when i was turning a bit too much), after logging nearly 1000 hours in various VR games, so there must be an award for that? You also cannot turn in game, which is a huge issue for me personally, since my playspace is long, not wide. So facing one direction, and using the ingame turn options is usually my go-to (I suppose that is why this game makes me motion sick aswell). So, i find myself getting lost in real space more often than any other game. The gameplay is straight foreward and fun, there's really no complaints on it, the characters and animations are well done, and I couldnt ask for much more. Its a good game, if not simple very dated for a VR game, not really worth $20+? More so $10, but that's my personal opinion. Check out the Zombiesmith website, for more Quar related things.
Currently my favorite VR game, but I am a big turn-based strategy game fan. I think some of the calculations seems a little silly to me, but maybe they tested the balance of the game and found it needed to be that way. For example, the HMG should mow down anyone out in the open, but often times it doesn't. Maybe i'm just really unlucky. I would say the same should be true for the machine gun ability of the Baewyr (sp?) It can get frustrating to have enemy troops that are right next to a machine gun out in the open and you either don't hit them or kill only one of their rhyflers. Other than that, this game is a blast! Please add more maps and even add a map generator/creation tool so people can make their own and share them online! Then the fun will never end!
one of the most refreshing games iv played to date on VR this truly sets a new era for strategy gaming experiance 10/10
