Like, does he keep the dog in the glove compartment? Maybe that was cool in the 90s but I can't abide by that now. Game still slaps,
The game is much better than most of the other Junior Arcade games and has actually some gameplay depth, though not that much to fully recommend it to adults, but if you are already a HE and especially a Putt-Putt fan, or you own this game for any other reason, then there are certainly worse games to waste your time with.
Putt-Putt® and Pep's Dog on a Stick is an ancient family friendly 1988/DOS era Q*bert (copyright Gottleib, 1982) ripoff arcade game running on Steam thanks to the ScummVM engine. Gameplay involves bouncing around an isometrically presented pile of trash cans collecting bones. Yep, it's just Q*bert. This game is over 25 years old, it's ancient. 4:3, fixed resolution (looks like VGA). Weirdly, the devs have patched it from time to time, but this is really like putting lipstick on the skeleton of a pig that died long ago. I know that's not all that nice to say, but these guys are charging $5 USD for this, when you can play free games for kids, with much higher quality, in browsers or mobile, so how could anyone consider paying for this? This is just some attempt to cash in on some old abandoned kids game. It's really not cool.
You can use the console in this game.
I remember playing this game when I was 4 and I remember having a great time with it. This game is great for a nostalgia trip but don't expect to be challenged. If you have a child, then this would be a great game for them to play, along with the other Putt-Putt games.
An Instant Childhood Arcade Classic from the Days of my Childhood, in which you have to collect as many Bones & Items as you can by guiding Pep as you go through 100 Levels of Pogo Stick Fun! This game is very similar to that of Q*bert, a 1982 arcade game.
Summary
Old school arcade game similar to Q-bert meant for kids. Pros + Fun + Nostalgic Neutral ~ Old
Overview
Putt-Putt and Pep's Dog on a Stick is a surprisingly fun yet simple arcade style game of old similar to Q-bert but uses Putt-Putt's pet puppy Pep. It's a very fun little game and has a ridiculous amount of levels to play through and even has a custom level editor. Kids will definitely love playing this and it's nice to see that it has been brought back as I remember playing this a lot when I was younger. Gameplay As it is mainly a game developed for kids its quite a simple game where you just need to bounce from one platform to the next collecting bones and other items to rack up points and move to the next level. Although the game isn't particularly tough there are also obstacles that make it slightly more challenging such as enemies that can knock Pep off the platforms, items that change Pep's bounce range and speed, etc. Still, do remember that it is a children's game so it won't be ridiculously hard.
