About
Pudding the Jug is a story telling game about a cute little dog.

Haybale Castles describe their style as cinematic comedy. Simple point and click, explore the little town at your own pace with no skill or requirements necessary.
Be as nosey as you like entering strangers houses at whim. Your bowels are loose, no lawn or carpet is safe.

Who would blame this cute dog, surely this cutey isn't the cause of the tragic events in the little town. Click through hand drawn scenes in a unique style of story telling, where the authors flush away the confines of typical video games and invite everyone to desecrate the lovely lanes of Albion.

I admit the game made me laugh a few times, I took a crap inside an art museum, and the game gave me an achievement for making a "masterpiece" -- yea it's a bit of a low standard humor, but sadly it's where I am at, and very much the only thing you can expect from this game. Otherwise the game is like 45 minutes at best, I have more because I am trying to trigger some achievements, and I am not even sure they are working. It's kinda janky too, in theory it's just a point&click exploration game, but the pathing is really crappy and it's easy to escape the walkable area, sometimes softlocking the scene. You are a dog that just randomly takes a crap or makes yellow puddles, and that is kinda the main mechanic of the game, I guess? I will give the developer the benefit of the doubt, and assume they were not trying all that hard to make a real adventure game, it's more of a satire release I suppose (or maybe it's trying to be one), but still, you can at least fix those foreground issues so the characters do not overlap. The general idea is just to visit every location and find whatever triggers the next joke, the interactive spots are not highlighted so you just click around and hope for the best. The backgrounds look kinda neat, I like the pencil sketch look of the game, although strangely that vacuum looks oddly familiar, I assume it's just a coincidence. If it was more like a proper satire of adventure games, you know, maybe it could work, the game has a very "no $$$$ given" vibe to it, which I could get behind, with a little more effort. Was it really worth $10, no... I guess I was hoping it would at least be a few hours. Maybe if the game was 4x times longer so I could at least get more of that toilet humor, get a bit more exploration and all. If it was made a little better, and had more areas to navigate, I would not even mind it so much. But ehh, don't waste your money, maybe if it's $3, and you have no standards, you might get 5 laughs out of it.
Pros:
(+) It's a little funny, for all the wrong reasons, only because it's so poorly made and it feels like very little effort or thought was given to the writing. It has maybe 3 to 5 good jokes or so, depending on your standards. (+) I did enjoy the background/art direction, wish there was more to explore.
Feedback:
Technical issues/other problems: ~ the pathing is really bad, the character gets stuck all the time, if you walk into the museum after getting the achievement, it locks you, for example, the roof area is also messed up ~ you really should fix all the foreground issues with the characters like the granny overlapping you ~ check the toilet achievement and the rat achievement, I am not sure they trigger properly ~ consider adding interactive hotspots, change the pointer when you hover over something interactive ~ why is clicking ESC closes the game instantly, "yes or no" would be nice ~ I think there is a bug that makes the dog walk in reverse sometimes, could you make it into a feature and allow me to manually select the reverse walk, and possibly play some pop music when I do? ~ it would be nice if the game recognized which areas were completed, so it does not spam the same hints Overpriced for little content: ~ like 30-45 minutes for $10, not amazing, really should be 2-3 times bigger on content/locations, minimum Overall Thoughts: 4.5/10 Again, I got a few laughs out of it, it's exceptionally poorly made, on top of just not really trying to be all that great, maybe had up to 5 good jokes. I liked the art style, so there is that. If it was like $2, whatever.... $10 though? Feeling a little sour honestly, don't want to refund cuz I feel it's a bit unbecoming a gentleman because I experienced the game. This would be okay if I at least got more content, so if you make another troll game, at least deliver on that. A sweet little adventure game with a unique hand-drawn art style that really stands out, felt like a children's book really was incredible. The artwork is genuinely fantastic, and the humour landed especially well with my 9-year-old, who thought it was absolutely hilarious from start to finish. Was nice to play a game together that isn't minecraft. Loved the british humour as well, have learnt about henry hoovers now as well. The game is easy to pick up and complete and doesn't overstay its welcome,. If you're looking for something quirky, family-friendly, and full of personality, I would definetely recommend giving it a download :)
not my kind of game but its cute for what it is.
Masterpiece. If you want to play as a naughty dog that ♥♥♥♥♥ on everything, this game is for you :)
I went into Pudding the Jug expecting a quirky little joke game, but I came away genuinely impressed by how much charm and personality it already has. The game is a 2D point and click adventure centred around Pudding, an adorably chaotic dog with an unfortunate tendency to leave destruction, puddles, and other “surprises” around the house. Guided (or more accurately manipulated) by another dog, Melly, you’re sent on a series of mischievous errands that usually end with something being eaten, broken, peed on, or otherwise ruined. The premise sounds ridiculous, and it absolutely is, but the game fully commits to the bit in the best way possible. What really stood out to me was the presentation. The hand-drawn art style gives the entire game a cosy storybook feel, and every environment has a lot of character despite the relatively small scale. The voice acting was another pleasant surprise. It adds a huge amount of personality to Melly and other characters in the environment, and helps sell the humour without feeling forced. Gameplay wise, it follows a classic point and click structure; moving between rooms, interacting with objects, solving light environmental puzzles, and carrying out increasingly questionable tasks around the house. It’s simple, but it works well because the writing and animations keep things entertaining. There are several genuinely funny moments, mostly thanks to how innocently Pudding seems to approach complete household destruction and how other characters in the environment react to it. Overall, Pudding the Jug feels like a weird little passion project in the best possible way. It’s charming, funny, creatively absurd, and clearly made with a lot of care. If you enjoy quirky indie adventure games with strong visual identity and a sense of humour that embraces total nonsense.
