About
Primeval Genesis is a third-person, hobbyist-built, narrative-driven survival shooter set on a remote island where prehistoric life has been brought back through experimental science. You play as Cole, a quiet and reserved prior service member hired on a contracted assignment by a shadowy corporation to provide security and ranger services.
What begins to appear as a quiet vacation of a job quickly spirals into chaos as strange events unfold on the secluded island and unseen threats begin to emerge.
Survive against deadly dinosaurs, hostile creatures, conspiratorial human factions, and the island’s stark contrast of dense jungle and industrial decay. Piece together the clues scattered across brutalist research labs, chemical storage sites, and crumbling power stations—assisted by your training officer and sarcastic, battle-hardened brit, Vinny.
This handcrafted single-player experience, created by a small team in Unreal Engine 4, seeks to blend environmental storytelling, cinematic gameplay, tension, and grounded science fiction to deliver a gripping and atmospheric story with an unsettling but wonderous backdrop.
🧠 Functional Enemies
Enemies are built to think, hunt, and attack. Raptors ambush in large tactical teams, Rexes overpower with brute force and chase relentlessly and human adversaries aim for the chinks in the armor. Watch as Raptors take down a roaming Stegosaurus from a safe distance, bait a rex into a chase and watch the action unfold chaotically as Cole.
🧩 Environmental Puzzles
Survive hastily built, crumbling industrial infrastructure and lush ecosystems by navigating outdated machinery, rerouting power, and bypassing hazardous zones filled with many a danger.
🚙 Vehicles
Featuring a 4x4 Cole can drive, or ride along in some sequences.
🎒 Inventory and Items
Use tools in real-time to turn the tide: auto-injectors for healing or some sugary soda to give you a speed boost.
📓 Environmental Storytelling
Uncover the fate of the facility’s staff through scattered journal entries, destroyed rooms, and haunting audio logs left behind in their final hours.
🎬 Cinematic-Focused Gameplay
Story-driven sequences and radio-based NPC communication deliver a tight short cinematic experience that supports immersion without dragging control away from the player.

Reviews
with all fairness the game isn't perfect but my god does it have heart put into it. if you're a fan of the old JP arcade game, you'll like this game (also the speedrun is pretty cool)
This game is very jank but fun though the worst part if you can get past the horrible camera in first person is going to be the final t rex boss fight where I died multiple times getting 1 tapped by that dino like its a mw2 1 v 1. That T-rex will literally run faster than you and you might think to get up on the high rocks (which he will climb) or maybe running around in circles but none of those will work as it will still grab you in one bite. In order to win I had to glitch the t-rex into palm tree & rock and unload hundreds of rounds into it to win. After that it gets worse with the camera shaking all over the place and explosions as the platform beneath you collapses similar to that one level in Halo 3 without the shaky camera of course. Beyond this there were a few annoying glitches like being unable to pick up guns and Cole holding a rifle weird. Cole needs a better voice actor or AI voice actor too. I would wait until further updates come out before you buy this game since its not too bad just needs a lot of work but keep in mind it is pretty jank https://youtu.be/FVvjIMqYTfY
This game is has good graphics and a good storyline with a few jump-scares here and there. I would definitely recommend this to others to play.
Great little game, the ending is sudden and not to my liking but the game wasn't bad, felt nostalgic! Feels like Jurassic Park if you were random merc #5
SO FAR THE GAME IS VERY FUN, GOOD MECHANICS, GRAPHICS ARE REALLY CRISP, BETTER THEN IT LOOKS IN THE PICTURES, THE RAPTORS LOOK AWESOME AND THERE SUPER FAST WHICH MAKES IT TERRIFYING SO A NICE HORROR FEEL. PLUS THEY POUNCE WHICH IS AWESOME, ONLY BUG I ENCOUNTRED WAS NOT BEING ABLE TO DROP MY WEAPONS , SO THAT I CAN SWITCH TO ONES I FOUND. SO ILL WAIT FOR THE PATCH FOR THAT AND JUMP BACK IN, ALL IN ALL, REALLY GREAT JOB. ONE OF THE SMOOTHEST EARLY RELEASES IVE PLAYED IN ALONG, LONG, REALLY LONG TIME LOL GOOD JOB TO ALL INVOLVED.
This is a very promising game, if you like Jurassic Park you can't miss it! I think I had never seen before a non-official JP-inspired game that reproduces so accurately the long lost feels of the first movie. Some dinosaurs look very similar to their JP counterparts, but it's not just that. The setting and the atmosphere of this game are incredible, a perfect dive back into the 90's, it's like going back once again to Isla Nublar. Perfect immersion into a type of mood that movies don't seem to be able to create any more unfortunately. The gameplay is very fun too, mostly thanks to the shooting that feels very good, very "crunchy", it gives satisfaction. Yes, there are still several important bugs that must be issued, and the bare-bones enemy AI needs to be heavily reworked, but the (solo) developer is very active and responsive, and listens to criticism with an open mind, and this is a VERY good sign. If you are one of those self-proclaimed paleonthologists that are currently proliferating on steam forums and you absolutely need to see scientific accuracy everywhere (as the trend goes nowadays for some reason), then this is not the game for you, but if you just want to live a fun adventure in a brutal dinosaur world as we used to do back in the good old JP times (before Jurassic World started throwing feces at us), then absolutely go for it, I think this game definitely deserves our trust and our attention. Cheers guys!
Fun arcade shooter with a compelling storyline. The game gives off a retro aura that's hard to come by now adays. There's a genuine charm from indie games that when designed well; are able to take you back to the days of sitting in front of your playstation for a while. Hefty recommendation from me if you're looking for a couple laughs, shooting dinos, and helping me find out how Cole's liver deals with all the painkillers.
STAY AWAY. Don’t waste your money. This is a shameless asset flip that feels padded with low-effort AI slop. It’s blatantly unfinished, aggressively buggy, and crashes often enough to make it a chore instead of a game. Half the time it doesn’t even load properly, and when it does, it randomly refuses to recognize inputs. Textures are missing, visuals are broken, and the whole thing screams “cash grab.” This shouldn’t be on a storefront. It’s not “rough around the edges” or “needs polish” it’s fundamentally not working. Avoid.
Great game with awesome sound design and the dinos will scare the crap out of you. Just when you think you are going to outsmart them because it usually works in other games, you are DEAD wrong. Tons of fun and highly reccomned!
