Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.57/day in the week to Jul 30 → 3/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Bought this solely bc Joel Corelitz co-wrote the soundtrack, had no idea this was a metroidvania. I loved the atmosphere of Possessor(s) even if it made me feel a constant sense of dread and despair for this world and the characters. The art style for the sprites is GORGEOUS, some of my favorite art of any indie. You could tell this game was made by Heart Machine from miles away, their games have a certain vibrancy that I just eat up. In saying all of that, some of this game did frustrate me. I got softlocked in a few areas where I feel like the devs didn’t think players could get to, and the only way I could get out was killing myself or quitting to the title screen. Super annoying but thankfully it didn’t happen enough for it to REALLY bug me, I think I also experienced some of the story beats out of order because the devs didn’t anticipate the player going a different route, which was frustrating and jarring as someone who loves a good narrative in my video games. Things were revealed to me early on by Rhem and Luca that I was completely lost on, until I went back and got the context by exploring another area of the map. Even though I may have experienced pieces of it in the wrong order, I really enjoyed the story. I felt for Rhem and Luca and sympathized deeply with the things they both struggled with. I love how they started out genuinely despising each other, but the more the story progresses the more you see how much they heartbreakingly have in common. And they grow a deep empathy for each other that doesn’t feel forced, but earned. I totally get why some folks may not have had a good time with it but I really enjoyed Possessor(s)!
I had a really great time with this game. While the gameplay is fun, it really shine with its characters, world desing and the story. I fell in love with the characters as I was playing and I found the story to be heartwrenching. Nothing could have prepared me for how much I would love these characters. While I'll definitely miss this first playthrough experience, I'll still be sure to revisit this game in the future!
beautiful music, impressive visuals, and a really tight platformer all around. very nice
Possessor(s) – 7/10 I have been a fan of 2D platformers for as long as I can remember – there was always one around when I was a kid. After many years, I finally have the opportunity to take gaming more seriously. And although when it comes to metroidvanias, I had only previously played Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate, this was my first time experiencing a pure, hardcore game of this genre. I had no idea how hardcore 2D gamers or fans of this genre are, but at times, it felt like playing Dark Souls. I died so many times it was ridiculous. I only found out that you could buy health upgrades in shops after about 6 hours of playtime – probably around 3/4 into the game. It's terrifying that instead of putting everything into one menu, I completely missed the RB button, which cycles through the merchant categories. You could complain about the UI, but oh well, I take the blame for that. As for the plot, art style, animations, and even the gameplay and character movement – I absolutely love it! Personally, I liked the baseball bat weapon the most. The ability to parry combined with the occultism item made the gameplay much easier, allowing me to take down tough enemies in a maximum of three hits after upgrades. Overall, I rate it a 7/10 because I struggled a lot with this game. The biggest issue turned out to be that when I wanted to max out all the collectibles, the game glitched and didn't register all the items I had collected. I hated this because what's the point of putting an item counter in the game if it doesn't match your actual progress? How can you even be sure that you've cleared the entire map? What's even weirder is that some achievements didn't pop because of this, while others only unlocked later due to a strange bug – specifically when I rested at a campfire or reloaded the game. To the developers: I know how terribly you are treated in the gaming industry, which is why I myself stick to manual labor. Even though my dream for the future is to draw comics or work in the art/gaming industry, I truly feel for you. These game bugs are not fixed as quickly as they appear. In reality, you work from one failure to the next. But if any of you are reading this and have the power to fix these bugs, please remember to do so. Story-wise, the game is great, and visually, it's absolutely gorgeous. The only flaws are technical.
i like it
Before writing this review, I checked out what other players had to say. And yes, I tend to agree with the majority. The game does have significant flaws that might put many people off. Personally, I unlocked every achievement and still highly recommend buying Possessor(s) (especially during a sale, when the price is a real bargain). Design, Story, and Sound: The visuals and audio perfectly capture the bleak atmosphere and sense of ruin that permeate this world. (If the game truly excels at anything, it’s the music.) The story is solid, the characters are memorable and interesting, and the chemistry between them works beautifully—though I can't say much more than that. I enjoyed exploring the environments, even if the in-game mini-map isn't particularly useful; it has a primitive design that shows only the general outlines of the area. Gameplay: Now for the interesting part—the aspect players disliked the most. Combat system: Here, I have to agree with the general consensus—it feels rather clunky. Combo systems exist for only a couple of weapon types, and even those can only be paired with a limited set of active items (plus, you can't cancel an attack once it's started). This contrasts the bosses, who fly, dash, and spam attacks in final stages of a fight. And yet, I wouldn't call the combat difficult; thanks to parrying and other mechanics, enemies can be defeated quite easily. As for movement, there’s nothing to complain about; it’s simply good. While I say enjoying the explore map, I’ll be honest: you don't need to scour every inch of the map to get all the main weapons, talismans, and active items. If you *do* choose to explore thoroughly, you won't find anything more than standard upgrade materials, a bit story, and items for NPCs. The most interesting thing you can get from NPCs is the story; unfortunately, all they can actually give you are the same upgrade items. Well, I think I’ve written enough. I hope the feedback will be useful to you.
