About
Positron is a fast paced arcade style game inspired by the classic arcade games of the 80's, namely Tron, Battlezone, Tempest, and Star Wars. Battle against opponents in the Arena, navigate your way out of the Maze, and collect power-ups while avoiding your own trail in Snake.
Combining elements of these arcade classics, adding bright modern 3D neon visuals, enhanced effects, and super smooth gameplay. Positron enforces the core game mechanics seen in those original games, in a fresh new way.
Battle against A.I. opponents or split-screen against friends in the Arena. Fight to eliminate your opponents in deathmatch style battles, set across dozens of arenas.
Navigate complex mazes, find your way to the exit then try to set the fastest time on the leaderboards. Featuring hundreds of mazes split across three distinct difficulties.
Collect power-ups which grow your trail and avoid destroying yourself in Snake. Challenge yourself to survive as long as you can, or compete against a friend in splt-screen multiplayer.
Positron is designed and developed by Martin Caine, as a side-project alongside his full time job working as a programmer in the games industry.
The game is programmed in C++ using a bespoke custom engine, which will also be used to bring the game to further platforms.

This is a TRON inspired racer with Snake and Maze modes. There are a fair amount of levels, Snake is the simple game you remember from you "old phone" days where you eat the orbs and your tail gets bigger, its game over if you crash into a wall or yourself. Maze is where you have to navigate at high speeds through a maze with no idea where to go, as there is no map, even on early levels, I feel the earlier levels should have a map and I found some of the levels a little frustrating. The game has some Colourful "Tron Like" graphics that "do the job" Sparse sound and an OK voice over with a choice of male or female voices. Music too loud, even on the lowest setting (still after the recent update that added settings). I appreciate its in early access and an arena mode (I assume this is Multiplayer ?) is coming but at £12.99 this is a bit overpriced in my opinion. I've changed my recommend to Yes from No but as I didn't dislike the game, I just don't feel £12.99 is justified. My Plays & Chats - https://youtu.be/vkxGWjIdgGw?si=SceVl0UT1n5Zgfmr
Very good game. Good music. So many good levels! Does not tell you to press enter at the start of the game, but I like it. Looking forward to Arena mode being added.
It is nice to see indie games made with custom engines, props to the dev! I find the experience quite relaxing, while also tempting me to reach the top of the leaderboards. The game plays well, runs smoothly, and I have no doubt that the couple of bugs I experienced will be corrected quickly. Nicely done!
If you like games that look like Tron, this is for you. Great game play in the two modes that are currently in Early Access. I brought and paid for this myself - you can see my video review here. https://youtu.be/pWcwynkBYag?si=q5folzVjjElRsSqr Do I recommend - absolutely.
Has a retro feel to the game and with simple game play it allows anyone to go in and play just like an arcade machine for people looking for that
Quality game, you can tell this is a passion project. The game is bug-free as far as I can tell. The higher difficulties can get quite difficult, in terms of speed. Not my type of game personally, mainly because I tend to get motion sickness (from cars IRL and also ingame), but if that's not something you struggle with and you're a fan of Tron and fast paced racing/puzzles, definitely worth a go, the game works as advertised, it has plenty of levels and the quality is there. Game's WIP and the dev is working on adding new modes/content.
Looks sweet, plays fast and smooth with straightforward controls... difficulty is a little on the hard side for an old fart like me, but love the simplicity and slickness of the concept. Keep up the good work!
A smooth snake style game with a Tron aesthetic which is very addictive. When you crash you are immediately put back in a continuous loop which makes you just keep playing. It's a game where you can just lay back & get totally into the zone. Would have loved it on my PSP so can see it being perfect for the Steam Deck.
I have been waiting for this game in forever on my Wishlist, and now I have finally bought it! I love the the mazes and how you have to remember what way you have to go to get to the ending. The leaderboard is a great touch on it so I can try and beat everyones scores around the world! I cannot wait to try Snake and Arena mode out. My favourite bike is the Dragon. Well done to the dev who made this game. And give credit to his wife that made the mazes! I love it! Well done again for porting your first game ever for Retroburn!
Fun game, honestly can't remember which year I first saw this at Play Expo, and was shocked/surprised to see I hadn't already bought it when I got home from Blackpool Sunday evening., (sorry !!) Looks great, maze mode is fun , firstly trying to figure out the route to the exit, then once you've have, trying to better your time (and NOT forget the route !) Online multiplayer will be a great addition whenever that comes along, but it looks gorgeous. Runs butter smooth on my Linux PC (CachyOS), I dual boot Windows so will try that as well just to compare performance. Great fun game for "I'll just have a couple of quick games..." which inevitably turns into not-so-quick game session as you try to improve :-)
