Portal 2

Portal 2 offers so much that builds off Portal 1. If I could save a game series, I would save this (and Half life, yet to be played!...). Portal has been my first major purchase on steam and probably the best.

Such an upgrade for an already good game, taking the elements that worked and adding much more to the gameplay. Also, thnx a lot for the level editor, IT'S SO PEAK.

The cake is a lie

An absolute masterpiece of a puzzle game, honestly makes sense this is one of (if not [b]the[/b]) highest reviewed games on Steam as I don't really find anything wrong with the game, other than some puzzles being tricky to figure out(but that's a puzzle game for ya). I also rebeat the game on this account in VR via mods which was a cool experience. [h2]Gameplay[/h2] The gameplay here expands upon what was introduced in the first Portal game, you have a portal gun and you have to navigate around this scientific facility in an attempt to escape as a human test subject. The puzzles in this game are very well crafted, and the mechanics they introduce such as the colored gel and [i]Aerial Faith Plates[/i](springboards) were insanely fun to use with puzzle solving. Also as an added bonus the sound design used when you use the gel or faith plates was really cool and showed how much depth was put into this game overall. [h2]Story & Characters[/h2] The story itself isn't the most deep, like I said you're playing as a test subject for a science facility attempting to escape. Where the game shines a lot is in the (other) main characters: GLaDOS and Wheatley. They have become extremely iconic and make the story a pretty funny experience to play through as well as just generally interesting. And I gotta highlight Stephen Merchant as Wheatley, I greatly enjoyed his vocal performance and it was really nice and funny seeing how whimsical of a character Wheatley was. Getting J.K. Simmons in here as well was also a really nice plus, the voice cast in this game was phenomenal and really helped make the story overall interesting and fun to go through. [h2]Performance & Polish[/h2] Because this is a bit of an older game it performance wise doesn't take all that much in the modern age of gaming. A potato PC[spoiler](no reference intended)[/spoiler] probably could get away with running this, just don't go too crazy in the graphical settings. For a game that came out in 2011 it is very well polished and honestly still holds some ground to this day in its visuals. The game does a great job at expanding the environment to show how massive of a scale Aperture Science really is. [h2]Value[/h2] The fact that this is the same price as the first Portal game is insane, as this game has an insane amount of value to it. There is the multiplayer mode which is also really iconic to this game, though I never really was interested in playing that. Even from the campaign alone that is enough to warrant the price. Not the longest one I believe, I once again was able to re-beat this quicker as I previously beat this on another account. If you are even remotely interested in puzzle games or even a puzzle game, I would highly recommend this game. If anything I feel this is an essential for any gamer. Go get the first game as well if you can, helps make the experience much more cohesive. [h2]Verdict: Highly Recommend[/h2]
