This game is a fun experience that stands on its own with simple game-play and is suitable for everyone and just wants to be its own game. The game is beautiful as the ambience, background NPCs and environment have passion put into them. The game isn't perfect by any means but that okay no game is. This game was not just made by a keyboard, mouse and computer it was made with heart as well. Even the small details in the game really stood out. I really recommend you buy this game as its worth it and this is just the first game and its made by one man and the game standing on its own is great. I enjoyed this game and I hope you will to.
Introduction =========== Platypus adventures is by far and away one of the most impressive games I've seen a truly independent developer put out in a very long time. The original creator, David, has spared no expense in his time or detailed working of the world to ensure that it is enjoyable in a wide variety of ways. From beating up enemies, to speed running, to a true completionist, it's all here. Having beta tested this game for months now, I can truly say, I am overjoyed that the game has reached public release, and applaud David for his efforts on a job well done. Game Play =========== Game play resembles that of a crash bandicoot or other 3D adventure game. If you're into the idea of large areas to explore, items to hunt down, fun little battle scenes along with boss fights, Platypus adventure will be a great fit for you. You can go down river rapids, hunt for shells to get better armor, find a whale in space, and a ton more. Combat is straight forward and simple. You can connect via a controller if you'd like, or you can use (what I prefer), which is a mouse and keyboard input style. Combat, though simple in mechanics, is actually quite difficult and definitely shows that it can become more and more entertaining with higher and higher difficulty options. Plus, finally beating a boss on a higher difficulty will leave you satisfied, or at least, it left me laughing over how proud / frustrated I was over the fight. Things like jumping across ravines with a vine are also entertaining. I couldn't help but feel like my character was a mini Indiana Jones in platypus form. You even get a boomerang that you can use to knock berries off of trees, or beat up enemies from a distance. Plus, I found a few secret things you can do while messing around in the game that truly had me enjoying the game. Controls are a bit tricky to get used to at first, however, given some time, that challenge actually becomes part of the fun of the game itself. That may sound bizarre, but I genuinely enjoyed learning how to use my controls more effectively by messing around with them from time to time. It actually felt like the game was a challenge I truly had to earn / beat on my own. Performance =========== Performance of the game is top notch. I originally started beta testing this game on a 980ti which ran the game smoothly on medium / high settings. Having jumped over to a 3070ti, the game hardly makes my computer sweat, which is fantastic. You can truly tell the developer spent hours, if not days tweaking every single little texture to ensure that performance wasn't lost. Story =========== The game's story is enticing. Though dialogue is text based, I still felt connected to the little guy "platy" as I met all of his friends, the community he was a part of, as well as the ebs and flows of the strained relationships the game takes you through. The plot is by no means the most complex I've ever played, but it's enjoyable as an adult and clearly would also be enjoyable to a younger audience. Striking that balance is something I admire and something I believe you will enjoy as well. Bonus Content =========== The game also features an area to learn all about the creatures that are represented in Platypus Adventure's gameplay. Each one helps you to understand what animals roam the great island that is Australia. Additionally, secret areas, bonus items, and so much more can be found by messing around the game and finding every hidden little thing possible. Rating =========== A+ Conclusion =========== In conclusion, this game was a true joy to beta test. I have now logged around 74.7 hours (according to steam as I write this review) and found myself enjoying each replay in new ways. There was always something different for me to try and find and made replay-ability of the game much higher than I expected. I would definitely recommend the game to anyone looking for something fun to enjoy, especially considering its low price point. Well done!

Amazing! Love how the story is engaging yet also really sweet and friendly after i may have had a bad game or two i love just hopin on, sittin back and just playin through the story. 10/10 would recomend.
I'm not good at reviews, I suck at them... hard... so I'll keep it short and simple I'm a fan of the old PSX era of games like croc, spyro and crash. And this little gem fills that nostalgia hit nicely. Learning that this is all a 1 man passion project just solidifies it more. I'm not far in, just got past the rapids, but I'm taking my time exploring the little details about, and trying to find a damned bush tomato plant... no comment! I'd say give this a serious look if you're a fan of the above PSX games.
This is a fun and creative game that is filled with adventure. The environment is beautiful and the characters have a lot of personality. Boss fights can be very challenging which is great. Definitely worth the play time.
This game is awesome! very challenging, but i'm all about it. great work gang!
I'm not really good at writing reviews so i'll keep this short and simple. Animal designs are cute, Environments are very nice, Effects are pretty, Controls are good, Puzzles were fun. My only complaint is that i can't go back to other areas, even after beating the game i was disappointed that you can't revisit previous areas Overall, its a pretty damn good and cute Australian themed adventure platformer
So i have just started this game and man it's crazy like you're a kick azz platypus and you beat up some people who were possessed by the evil gator (definitely satan) and now I can't wait for the dark souls like boss fight were I am a tiny creature to the evil gator (or crocodile i dunno still satan for sure) i parryed like 5 of the reptiles that attacked me and it felt awesome this game is 10/10 better than elden ring Better get game of the year. (will add on to this after i finish the playthrough)
I was gifted this game and it was one of the best games I've ever played by a solo developer. I can’t’ help but tell everyone about this game. It’s amazing. I love the graphics and the cute platypus. I also love the fighting scenes. There are also cosmetics you can earn and there are a lot of hidden secrets in this game. Worth playing if you like solo. Overall I give this game a 10/10.
Great visuals and music by a solo dev. Really cool storyline. Super cute, funny and complex characters. Reminds me of nostalgic platformer games. A cool adventure game across different environments with awesome "big bad" characters/story.
