In Plastic Trick, three mannequins mysteriously come to life and try to win your heart, wanting you to free them from their plastic bodies. The game has a nice balance of romance and comedy. I love the main character Serena's obsession with shopping and fashion. There's a shopping mini-game that decides which route to progress. It takes a little trial and error to figure out which characters like which items, but I eventually got it (and posted a guide)! The latter part of the game focuses more on character development, which I really enjoyed. Serena and her love interest will face challenges and need to make some tough decisions, so they'll need to figure out together what it means to love each other. I enjoyed it a lot! I recommend the game to anyone looking for a fun game with a lot of silliness, with a huge heart underneath its plastic exterior <3
Super cute and funny game, although the way the shopping mini game works is a little confusing at first (luckily an awesome person created a guide for that now!) The artwork is GORGEOUS and has consistent quality across the board
There needs to be more people that play this game, I am so in love with it. At first I thought it would be more centered on the comedy aspect rather than the romance aspect but I was happily surprised about how it both managed to make my heart flutter and to get some good laughs out of me. The routes are no carbon copy of each other. Each character is unique and given so much life within the couple of days you know them. Maybe I am bias, but I feel this game is on par with big brand titled romance games and that it far surpasses the expectations I once had before the first route. It is worth the money, it is worth the time, and it is definitely worth the praise and positive reviews
I really wanted to love this game, but I kind of just like it. It needs some work but I'm sure the update cycle is finished. The devs are kickstarting a sequel to Stellifier, one of their other games. Plastic Trick is a very interesting and unique otome game. It's about the main character, Serena Brightmore, who works an office job in a tech firm suddenly being ambushed by 3 talking mannequins. These mannequins are all fighting for her affection, all with a similar goal but the characters are so very different. - Ettore, the stoic older love interest who is unfamiliar with human technology - Velvet, a sweetheart and the love interest who has a keen interest in art - Midnight, a mannequin modelled after famous actor Midnight Valen, of whom MC is a huge fan. You can't rename MC. So the story was pretty crazy, I loved it so much and I had a lot of fun seeing the chapters progress as Serena becomes closer to the mannequins. What I also enjoyed a lot is that the trio all continue to show up in each other's routes. Serena has interactions with them and talks to them about her feelings and they offer her advice or just talk to her casually. The pacing is quite good and there's no poorly-chosen tropes. I liked the stories for all three characters - they had moments of sadness, shock and were so funny. I could not have expected the directions this game went. I also really liked how the mannequins reacted to people coming into their space and not being aware of their activities. The game overall was similar in tone and comedy as Cupid Parasite. It's also equally as steamy. There are implied sex scenes and fade to black moments, also references to the sex on the following day in dialogue. There are also cheeky dialogue choices, especially in Ettore's route. There are also no language mistakes, typos or dropped punctuation. I loved the art, the CGs are so pretty and colourful and also consistent (largely) across characters. The only different CGs are the good ending text message ones. I liked the sprite artworks - Ettore is HUGE without being goofy (looking at you Heart Cage), Velvet is beautiful and Midnight is so cute! I liked MC's design and her CG artworks. Each character gets 4 CGs. I loved the interface of the game with the corkboard intermission screen and the text message system with avatars. So cute and fun! Each character route unlocks 3 quotes, you get a bunch of stickers to add to the corkboard and customise your design with and the CGs become photographs you can stick on the board, too. You can check the character "profiles" and from there unlock the other ending if you got only the neutral one, that way you don't need to play through the entire game again (I definitely knew that...). The intermission screen is where you progress to the next day, out of 10 total, and can buy objects to fill the love meter of each character. Buying items on sale will also increase Serena's love meter. Buying fake items will increase nothing. Each day Serena gets an extra $1000. The music loop was good but after an hour of gameplay you get tired of it. It was just very short and then repeated to make a song. There are no character voices, but the developer does do some voiced games. I thought that was fine, I imagined voices for the characters myself. The current only guide doesn't mention how to get all the achievements, but theyre quite straightforward. As for what I struggled to enjoy and what detracts from the game for me: [strike]- The save function doesn't work. If you save, it basically acts like a snapshot to continue the game and when loaded, will load you to the same point that you quit the game at...not the point you saved at. It pretty much acts like the pause menu when you play a game that has no save function.[/strike] The devs have fixed this. - There is no skip function that skips read text. There is instead, a skip to next choice function that operates when you click it only. As in, you can't tab/shift/control, etc. to get it to trigger...you have to click Skip and the only functionality it has is to skip to next choice. - Whenever I would load a file or launch into the game again, it would set my text speed to Slow, even if I had changed it to fast. This was especially frustrating to me with the lack of skip functionality. [strike]- The game would also keep my resolution on 1200 * 800 on the drop down menu even if I knew I was in another larger resolution. It was so annoying to have to keep changing it. Endlessly annoying.[/strike] The devs have fixed this. - Despite following a guide, I still got the neutral endings when I had chosen the right dialogue to get the good ending. - Some days, there were no items for one of the love interest I wanted to finish and I scoured the list twice. My game route ranking is:
Midnight > Ettore > Velvet
Worth playing for the memes, and it was a lot of fun and very unique. The price is not bad either but just note the above issues I had with the game. Consider getting this one, its criminally underplayed.
一款the passenger MC-vibe
This is one my my favorite dating sims. Serena is such a fun mc. I absolutely adore her. She is so full of life and smart. Velvet was my favorite romance with Ettore a close second. I will say, I did not like Midnight at all. He felt sleazy from beginning to end to me. I wish he was a bit more redeemable. Overall, a really great game and one I would happily replay.
I've only played Ettore's route (which i thought would be my least favorite) but it was honestly such a fun ride, I don't understand why this game is not more popular. The shopping feature to gain affection allows for you to be able to make whatever choice you did like during the main 7 route stories before being locked into the LI route, although I decided to use a guide (ty to the person who released a full guide on steam). Even though I used a guide for the final chapter (where choice actually matters), I felt they were somewhat obvious enough that I might have not needed the guide, which is good for someone as dense as me and for a game that requires 100% correct choices for the good end. I'm really excited for Midnight and Velvet's routes next, and I might even try to 100% achievements too if I can figure them out. Other than some typos here and there, the only thing I have to say negatively about the game is there isn't a poly route, since all three LIs appear so often on each others routes and have such good chemistry too in my opinion. Update: I've finished all routes' good endings and the common route endings. And it was a blast the whole way through. The common route endings in general were as funny or melancholic as need be and worth at least playing through once each. (Serena Ending & No Specific Route Ending) Ettore: I played his route first thinking it would be my least favorite. I was wrong. While Ettore starts of very condescending and stoic, he quickly warms up into a bantering relationship with Serena. His lore makes for some really hilarious episodes. His route also has a strong theme of family, surprisingly, and it's very heartwarming to watch this supposed otherworldly god learn about love in their various forms. I'm really weak to found family. Midnight: After Ettore, I was worried I would hate Midnight's route. And honestly, I did struggle a little with the immersion of Midnight's route because Serena's character is very much a huge Midnight stan (die-hard fan), to the point where it may be considered obsessive. She's not the stalker type, but just about everyone in in her life have been witness to very embarrassing things she has done because she's such a huge Midnight fan. I felt a lot of second-hand embarrassment whenever these moments were brought up, especially knowing that her idol in question now knows about all of this too. Serena is lucky that Midnight is very receptive to these kinds of fantasies. Thankfully, his route only gets better once you actually make it to the real route after the 7 chapters and you start learning about who is really behind Midnight. I love how there are no actual villains in this route, just a lot of flawed humans who are all trying to navigate their relationships as best as they know how. The twist is handled surprisingly well, and its arc feels like such a true vulnerable moment that both Serena and Midnight need before they really become official. While the route was rocky at first for me, by the end of the route, both Serena and Midnight have grown into a healthy and mature relationship that isn't just idol and fan. Midnight has definitely endeared himself to me. Velvet: Velvet was probably the most mysterious lore-wise out of all the LIs, and her lore is still a bit confusing even after you play her route. Out of all the routes, hers is the most tragic as you slowly coax out Velvet's past underneath her sweet as pie disposition. However, there's still plenty of laughs and sweet moments throughout her route, because unlike the boys, there's no underlying tension at first stopping the two of you from basically getting into a relationship already. I loved how a core theme in Velvet's route was empowerment, as Serena does all she can to help Velvet learn and explore the freedoms and passions she couldn't before. I knew Velvet's route would be my favorite even before playing it, but in a way, all of the routes were my favorite. Each route was full of gags and blushing sweet moments, and by the end of it all, Plastic Trick had already become one of my all-time favorite dating sims. Please give Plastic Trick a try, and yes, it was important to the lore that they had to be mannequins.
No speed forward. Game story kinda boring. Can't change name
(Only playing for Velvet's route) Overall fun, silly, and romantic game! Story, characters, and artwork were all great! The shopping mini game was fun, but required some trial and error. Bless the person who made a guide for that! I really loved Velvet and her route, soooo cute! Not to spoil too much...but I also love how they portrayed girls being both "girly" (shopping and fashion) AND smart in STEM. It delivers comedy in spades, as expected, but also delved into some serious topics. The only issue I had was the save progress feature being kinda weird, but it's fine. Glad I was able to get it on sale, but would've happily paid full price! People should definitely check it out! P.S. Does anyone know how to unlock the second CG for Velvet's ending??
